I have sensitive combination skin and my gateway retinoid recommendations for someone absolutely new to retinoids are two Korean skincare products that I absolutely loved as I began my retinoid journey. 1) Beauty of Joseon Retinal Eye Serum (0.02% Retinaldehyde). 2) By Wish Trend A-mazing Bakuchiol Night Cream (0.03% Retinal + Bakuchiol). I am currently using the By Wishtrend product for my under eyes and neck. LOVE it. For face, I moved from one tube of Naturium 0.05% Retinal to Naturium 0.1% Retinal to now 0.15% Youth to The People Retinal+Niacinamide Serum. They are all FANTASTIC products. @BethaneyLilly2 күн бұрын
Yes! It’s for anti-aging as well and I’d pick it over pretty much any other retinol, adapalene is stronger than retinol because adapalene can directly bind to retinoic acid receptors. This means that adapalene does not have to undergo conversion processes in order to be active and start working on your skin - it already is! It’s the strongest, most effective thing you can get without a prescription. I personally prefer differn (adapalene) over tret, my skin tolerates it better. In a 2018 study of the efficacy of adapalene 0.3% gel versus tretinoin 0.05% gel, both groups showed significant improvement in signs of aging, including photoaging and wrinkles, with little to no differences. The site Good RX has a really good informative article …. Adapalene (Differin) versus Tretinoin (Retin-A) for Wrinkles

Perfect timing Dr Sam! I'm really run down and have been finding that my skin is peeling from Tret when it didn't before. I've been on the lookout for a gentler alternative until I'm fighting fit again xx

I’ve been using Tretinoin 0.05 since October 2023 6 nights a week. One night a week I use Cerave Treatment glycolic and lactic acid. I use Medik8 retinal 3 eye cream $85 and I have purchased the 6 strength $109 to use once I finish the 3. With Tretinoin I have noticed it has brought out dark sun spots from beneath the skin so hopefully they fade, I use Aloha Arbutin and Tranexamic acid in the morning. I’m 48 and noticed my first eye line wrinkle. So I hope the Medik8 helps. I use Tretinoin on the orbital bone under the eye where the line is, haven’t put Tretinoin up close to eye as I get dry eye. Here in Australia we have to buy Medik8 online.

Medik8 uses BHT in their ingredients and studies have shown that BHT causes cancer in rats.

Thank you for this video! What do you think of the Cerave retinol? Also, what retinol eye creams would you recommend?

I've never had any issues with tretinoin. I apply it after moisturizer.

At least the Shani Darden is a little less money than the Skinbetter, lol. Cocokind has a retinoid product with retinal, retinol, and HPR.

Tree of life’s retinol is my all time fave.

I rotate between SkinBetter and Sente. Both are gentle and well tolerated by my 73 yo skin. Unfortunately I can't use tretinoin for the reasons you mentioned.

My sensitive reactive skin can’t tolerate tret, but Medik8 Crystal Retinal 1 has been perfect, I don’t know if I’ll go up in strength as I’m stunned at the results from the lowest strength….my own derm recommended.

I recently started looking for retinols, largely due to your channel 🙂 I have dry, relatively sensitive skin so I tried the Jamieson ProVitamin A Retinol Night Cream, retinyl palmitate in the ingredients. I've only been using it a couple of weeks so it's much too early to tell, but I'm curious if anyone else has tried this product. I really like the texture of the cream and it seems to be a good moisturizer if nothing else.

Hi, Dr.Sam Ellis, could you do a video talking about estriol cream for the face? ❤

I used Taz .1% for 13 years for acne and after a break due to me giving myself chemical burns by misusing it. I'm now using Arazlo .045%. I'm 34. I find preventive effects from both.

What a great news that adapalene is OTC in the US! Here in Brazil we still need a prescription….so, we can use differin just for anti-aging goals? Or only is recommended for acne?

Why no love here for the Maelove retinal? I think it’s a good quality product.

More than one dermatologist on KZbin has said, "Adapalene, also know as Differin". Adapalene is not Differin. Differin is a brand. It's not the only way to get Adapelene. You can also buy La Roche Posay's version as well as Acnefree, Neutrogena as well. Great video with good suggestions for retinoids to consider using.

Dr. Sam which sunscreen are you using under your eyes?
@brillettebarreat59333 ай бұрын
Hi Dr. Sam, great video… thanks! I still don’t have clear however if Adapalene is mainly to treat acne, or if it is actually effective to treat skin aging concerns. Thanks!
@SusanJ-jt5ny2 ай бұрын
@brillettebarreat5933 Yes, adapaline does have skin aging properties. But because it was made for oily/acne prone skin, it can be very drying for someone using it to counteract the effects of aging. Many post-menopausal women find that their skin has come a lot dryer than it was when they were young.
