europe is investigating chinese cars because they just knocked them out of russia and replaced german old analog digital hybrid cars with self driving digital chinese cars EU subsidizes everything from food to industry, they dont want to open that pandoras box LMAO it will destroy europe as a consumer economy/first world economy europes economic system costs more because of all the subsidy's at every level than rather than chinas targeted subsidy economy europe will just pay more for everything they consume. i think europe isnt doing this i think america is making EU destroy itself economically because they see them as competition have always seen them as main competition also the EV cant be made by tesla or you get less subsidy because USA dosnt like musk becuase he wont bend the knee

While China every day is making amazing progress, achieving real results in technology, country infrastructures, building a stronger nation for the people and improving the people lives. India jealous media is busy reporting negative reports of China and their boastful hype on their leadership and nation with not much real achievements. China has achieved incredible nation infrastructures developments, technologies, improving the life of their people and also assisting other third world poor countries. China continues to amaze everybody with their hard work and still be very humble. India it is always self-praise without much achievement but still very arrogance. In fact, it is so obvious to see these countries progressing and achievements for the last 30 or 40 years. In comparison it is like day and night. That is why many of India media channels are so jealous of China and keep mocking and bashing China with all the propaganda and fake news.

EU and other western countries cannot compete as they must apply to rules. As China gives a shit on rules (not yet starting talking about slavary or the entire human rights situation over there, but economically unfair restrications againt western companies) they easily can dump the price far below ours. This is not protectionism to the economy, butat the very end of the entire story it is protectionism against the freedom of speech! And this is hiiiighly welcome in my opinion. It's like our environmental problems. No one cares as no one really feels them (at least in the wealthy world). So currently no one cares about the huge issue speeking about china in respect to freedom of speech, as we don't feel it. We only see the low prices (which are not really much lower, but you know, you don't by for 4.98 if you get it for somewhere else for 4.97). However, this will back fire when we have empowered china with enough economical strength so they will tell us soon, how they want to set up the deals.

No it won't. It won't take long once EU Auto companies and Japanese auto companies start producing BEV in enough numbers to bump China mostly out of these markets because these citizens don't like Chinese companies or the CCP. A company like BYD will do well in Asia though. But here's the other part. You're saying "exporter". Japanese auto makers make vehicles all over the world. Those aren't exported vehicles. Toyota alone has 14 plants in the US. They have many more around the world. Those 14 plants in the US do different things, some build specific models, but they also manufacture the parts in the US. And you can look at all the popular Japanese auto makers that have high volume and they manufacture all over the world. Chinese auto makers have NOTHING like this. Also, most people in different countries still aren't buying BEV, especially the US. So regardless of the head start different Chinese companies have (except they have no advantage over Tesla), it doesn't matter. About 50% of BEV are on Chinese roads, so they are mostly for the Chinese market. Good for them. Go away troll and learn something.

The quota allocated annually by the EU to Australia is from nothing to a few thousand tonnes. A few thousand tonnes divided by 450.0M Europeans is less than a bite size morsel per person, per year. The real issue for Europe (and the US) is that they expect and feel entitled to a higher living standard than the Chinese but without the productivity superiority required to justify it. In basic terms, higher wages for the same or less output. Although the cost of production is increasing in China as it develops, it is still greatly cheaper than in Europe - hence the move of German auto makers to China. The challenge for Von der Liar is that continued subsidies for an inefficient manufacturing sector is not sustainable. The brand name advantage will only last a certain period, particularly as this is a new product category. In any case, there is little difference between production subsidies and tariffs - they both distort market forces. In addition, as mentioned, China has one of the fastest growing markets for EVs. Europe will be shut out of it. The gap between the size of "Western" markets and the rest of the world is diminishing even for products categories like EVs. As such, the West may be shooting themselves in the foot. Essentially this is a difference in governing systems. In a centrally planned model, governments will direct investment strategically and this is often labelled as "subsidies". In a capitalist system, the market drives investment. The West have successfully forced the world to adhere to their system for a century. But it is hard to see it compete against a strategic centrally planned governing system. Capitalism works when you are wealthy and can exploit colonies and the poorer nations - for every winner there are many losers, typically the colonies. The poorer nations can escape this trap through collaboration and strategic investments from governments - as is the story of China.

The labor cost difference between China and Europe alone is more than 20% difference. Chinese labor cost is only one third of Europe. This alone would more than explain the 20% difference in cost between Chinese and European EVs. Lithium is the most expensive component in EVS and since China has access to more lithium than Europeans it is natural for the EVs to be cheaper. Since most raw materials are imported and finished in China the cost of raw materials would also be cheaper. Having all components of an EV manufactured in China also lowers the cost of supply acquisition. The cost of a finish EV in China is probably cheaper by more than 20% than European EVs. But the cost difference between Chinese and European EVs is marked up to 20% to make more money for Chinese EV manufacturers. When import tariffs are too high it becomes a sanction because no one is going to buy the product. The Europeans would be at a loss because most people wouldn't be able to afford their expensive European EVs. If the import tariff is lowered and not prohibitive then it's basically a tax that every EV buyer will have to pay the government. This is just an excuse to charge taxpayers more taxes. And again this will also still prohibit lower income people from buying EVs. With less EV sales and more ICE vehicles, Europe will have to lift in the polluted smog that is a result of their tariff policy. In the USA,, Chinese EVs are imposed such a high import tariff that it basically sanctions or bands them. This is a loss for Americans as they have to pay for the high cost of gasoline and I'll have to breathe in the toxic smog when they have to resort to ICE vehicles. The fact of the matter is the low cost of Labor in China and the high manufacturing capacity of China makes it virtually impossible to compete against Chinese products if the quality are all the same. In the past when Chinese products qualities are inferior to Western countries competing with China is not a problem. But China has advanced technologically and in today Chinese products are just as good as Western products so it is impossible to out compete with China. These are the reasons why the West are demonizing China because they know that they just can't compete with China on a fair playing field. So who's the real demon, China or the Wests?

Consider the fact that there is a cost of living crisis in Europe, a consequence of their own policies against Russia, and yet they still expect their citizens to spend a lot more on buying overpriced European brands; at this rate it is still very likely that the auto brands the EU is trying to protect would still need to slash jobs to remain afloat or the EU would have to spend money it does not have to prop up businesses at risk of a default which is already being done across EU nations most notably in Germany and Italy, even Switzerland that claims to be independent of the EU but finds itself severely affected by EU economic policies. Imagine then sparking a trade war in such unfavorable conditions against the EU’s largest trading partner. All I can say is that the EU should brace itself for higher unemployment and higher poverty within its economic sphere of influence.

I appreciate your concern for the welfare of us Europeans, and the consequences of our opposition to Russian attempts to reform our borders. But we’ll be OK. Some ups ad downs, to be sure, but nothing compared to what went before, or what Ukraine is currently experiencing due to Russia’s massive military mistake. Russia and its citizens were hidden from us for several decades and we mistakenly assumed that they shared our values. Now that we know them for what they truly are, our policies will reflect the threat that they pose, not the dream of partnership that we cherished after the iron curtain came down. We got on OK without Russia for a long time, and even learnt to cope with their pervasive threats of nuclear annihilation, and we will go back to that way in the future. Stuff Russian oil and gas. We’re OK without them.

By the way, Chinese EV cars have very good price and quality ratio. Chinese realized that EV car is nothing but batteries with four wheels and a computer. And there are only 22 parts in an EV car. In comparison, there are 2200 parts in a combustion engine gas car. So it is very hard for a EV car to break other than batteries failure. And Chinese dominate the battery industry. Even Tesla is using Chinese batteries. Therefore, it is cost effective for Chinese to build EV cars, and load the cars with a lot of luxury features (yes, in case you have not noticed, all EU luxury items are actually manufactured in China too!). So you see, Chinese EV cars have all the conditions going their way to come up with a low price with high quality, even high luxury, EV car. And they did. They have DOEZENS of EV car makers now competing with even lower price and higher quality cars in Chinese domestic market. And these cars are exporting to EU and the rest of the world like a big wave.

EU and USA cannot compete with CHina on EVs. China is already the largest car exporter in the world and has the most EVs sold. EU is doubling the price of Chinese EVs and in the USA there might e a 25% tax to protect American car manufacturers. This is only the beginning. China in 2023 has just began to push EVs globally and China will dominate like they do in solar panels (75%). If EU and USA push too hard, China will nationalizie their car manufacturers and the EU and USA are toast for good. This means EU, USA, and Japanese car makers will be kicked out. BYD is already out selling Telsa in Chna 2 to 1 and many more Chinese EV companies are coming up too. Its over for Germany, USA, and Japan. They can share like 40% and China will get at least 60% in 5 years.

Countries like Japan are not selling EV in North America - because of profitability etc. In Japan and Asia - EVs are not uncommon. Palki is right - it is their protectionism - they are giving car makers sweet time to catch up. Based on some comments - countries in Europe may have Toyota EVs. Though market in these European countries is equivalent to one province or state as compared to US, Canada or India. Also subsidies are the norm there as governments controls (not known for free markets or another kind of protectionism) all aspects of lives for commoners and still have left over from colonial gains to distribute. North American options are Tesla, Chevy volt and Nissan Leaf. North American leadership only have added taxes and funds so far for climate change and greenhouse gases control e.g J Trudeau 's carbon tax. Funds do make sense because of large geographical area and recent environmental catastrophic events - wild fires and floods. We may be too late to correct the path and let the nature selection work!

I beg to differ on this point. Europe is way behind in EV program and their companies compete. Even though no subsidies are not provided, Chinese labour is cheaper than that in the West. Recently, USA introduced massive subsidies to their companies in all sectors but instead investigating EU put on table their own subsidies program. So Europe should blame itself, they wake up when it's too late.

Of course China is subsidizing their EV automakers, it's even stated in their internal financial reports. Without government subsidies, most EV makers in China would be losing money. Sure, the subsidies may hurt European autoworkers, but all European consumers benefit by the much lower price of Chinese imports. Having them will allow the transition into EV sooner and less expensive, which in the end provides a positive impact on the environment.

Europe will close its markets to Chinese EVs, China will do the same to European EVs and flood the European market with Chinese EVs made by acquired European brands like Volvo and such. Europe is fu...ed 😮😅

Chinese brands improve their market share to 0.6%, as MG sets new annual sales and market share records at #29, ahead of Lynk & Co at #39, while DR Motor also sets a new annual sales record thanks to sales more than doubling at #40, BYD lands at #48, Aiways improves 52.8% but remains a niche player at #51 and so do the others that follow: Haval doubles up at #52, Xpeng is up to #58, Maxus at #60, Nio lands at #61 and Seres lands at #62. JAC is up to #64 and Hongqi lands at #67 with its first 25 deliveries. Of these, BYD, Nio and Hongqi are for now only available in Norway, but all have plans to expand their operations to other markets in Europe quickly. Where is the flood?

At the same time, Volkswagen is the number one selling brand in China. Volkswagen has sold 50 million vehicles in China in the past 30 years, and it also sold 3.2 million vehicles last year. China once became the only market for the public to make money. Therefore, before taking up the weapon of sanctions, think about whether you can afford to play this game.

EU has no spine to stand against they have no problems with Tesla and Apple which manufacturers in Cina and are selling in EU.... BYD has a tech edge they have done research and development batteries like BLADE batteries which are cheaper and efficient so have natural cost effectiveness.
