Good Morning Alex, I wish to thank you for reviewing this Camera, I was so impressed that I took advantage of the special price on the Amazon website, I ordered this week and got it the next day, I installed it outside our office compound and I am NOT disappointed, it really seems a good camera and will probably go and but another one for another area, the Solar panel is working well and the Wifi is good, so a Bif Thank you Alex, keep them coming 🙂

I will stick with the Unifi Protect, UNVR (hidden away from the rack with a 15 meter fiber cable), UI Cameras, its own VLAN, Local VPN access, Human Presence Sensors to keep it all local/safe and send me notifications. No cloud involved! Just the way I like it. Still a good video

£109 for a pair of Tapo C420 battery cameras, including hub, work fine for me, battery life 5 to 6 months so far, with maybe half a dozen alerts each day. Great app. No point having an SD card in the camera itself as it’ll just be stolen or vandalised. Tapo’s is in the hub, and my hub is hidden.

Personally hard wired cctv install is much better and worth investment. Will last for decades and wont miss any event. While also it all being recorded locally rather than the cloud which these days isn't safe. Don't get me wrong i have ring door bell and a cam to test but theres been many times for unknown reason it didn't record an event.

Wireless cameras are by physical definition not on a "closed" circuit. Any device within range of the wifi signal can see the traffic, so it is not a closed circuit. Even though TLS can secure the transport, the obfuscated data can still be manipulated enroute to the other end of the wifi network device. I am not sure why "CCTV" is so losely used in modern times.
