Also something that Charlie didn't think of, is after getting each skull it will get progressively harder as the skulls can't be deactivated in the OG game. So when grabbing the last skull you'll basically already be doing LASO without making progress on LASO.

Best part of the behind the scenes and making of Halo, is you can see the fun in a game and not the over hyped competition. A game being a game. "The Reason" being played in the background is a nostalgic feel to this.

Halo 2's Legendary difficulty is so difficult because it wasn't balanced before the game's release. The dev cycle time restraint is also why the brutes' berserk melee animation is so fast-it's a placeholder animation. The Vista port's half-finished 60-ticks-per-second engine is another contributor to Halo's difficulty. Bungie wrote many scripts and engine mechanics that count ticks rather than time. This caused many things to run twice as fast e.g. AI reaction speed. From what I know, the MCC port had the Vista port's issues up until the past few years when all of the MCC titles were given restorations. I'm unsure if all of the titles' port-related issues were fixed, but I do that know CE is nearly on-par with the OG Xbox release from the graphics, the gameplay, and the audio.

@@davemccombs brutes have difficulty vaulting over low-walls in ODST but thats really the only 'new' bug introduced as a result of updates. Other than maybe CE elites not dodging when you scope in on them with a sniper, which might just be heresay at this point, everything else should be in parity with the original

To this day, Halo 2 solo legendary is my greatest gaming-related achievement. I was having renovations done on my apartment building and all I did was play Halo 2 on MCC for 2 days straight, Gravemind alone took me 5 hours to accomplish.

I was playing co-op with my homie a while ago, trying to beat Halo 2 legendary, and the first level took us 2 days to complete. The first day, we ran out of time because we couldn't complete it, and had to restart the level next time we played through it. Probably like 12 solid hours of playtime. Fuck that level.

I'm currently attempting what I like to call a LMSO (Legendary *Most* Skulls On) run on Halo 3 as a sort of training ground for a proper LASO attempt, and that's already one of the most difficult gaming experiences I've had in a long time. I'd hate to try it on Halo 2. Edit: I'm not using Halo 3 to prepare for Halo 2. I've been playing the games for over a decade, so trust me, I'm well aware of how bad an idea that would be.

What makes Halo 2 Legendary so amazing is that it’s difficulty forces you to acclimate as you go. I remember having an extremely hard time on the first level but by the end of the game you figure out ways to get through and by the end you really feel like a badass! The only other game that’s made me feel that way is Last of Us on Grounded difficulty.

I remember when this game came out. I was in middle school and my friends and I skipped school to go play it all day together. Playing multiplayer with split screen and system link set ups lmao those were definitely legendary times man. God do I ever miss those days more than anything. Best Halo game in the franchise too in my opinion. So awesome.

I mean, if you're doing LASO, you are 100% skipping through many major parts of many different levels. You don't want to fight s*** but you have to melee to get your shields to regen. It's F'in stupid so every single thing you do has to be perfect and planned out.

I remember when I first beat it on legendary back in the day, it really felt like an accomplishment. My friend inspired me to do it since back then it never even occurred to me to try it since it was so hard. He did it though so I had to try it too and I realized that beating a game on the hardest difficulty was actually really fun. Lol

I helped find some glitches and things in halo 2 when it comes to cario you can skip hanger 1 with a dead alive on legendary. By sticking player 2 at the first load zone with a plasma and jumping through it with player one as close to ceiling as possible he will disappear player 2 then he will blow up and when he respawns be dead alive this is due to default spots loading in during a pinch any way.... He will be invincible but cant move you can then punch his corpse through the first hanger doors skipping that fight with skulls if you got no skulls just delay the spawn till he is by the door he will fall in usually. Also since player 2 is invincible if you push him to the second hanger he makes for a great enemy destraction. Also another tip disable all audio hardware if the game thinks there is a fault it will run the game dialog much faster same with looking at the stations outside if you look at them they explode faster.

You can also use the rag doll to skip hanger 2 but it is a bit tricky and that will require the physics skulls to be on if you wanna punch him through those doors. He will have to hit the load zone on other side of the hall way.

Not really? Sure you will react faster but there aren't any spawns to predict, it doesn't teach you how to properly aim and shoot at another player, how to use each gun properly and when to switch weapons, etc.

2:20 - duplicate a fully finished campaign save, load up each level for each individual skull, save and quit at the checkpoint before you pick it up, and rename the save file so you know which skull you're gonna pick up. rinse repeat, then load each save file one after another until you have all of them. had to do this every single time you hard reset the console. even if you saved a laso run, quit, turned off the console, and rebooted that laso run checkpoint, the skulls would deactivate and you'd have to shotgun the save files again.

As someone who speedrun’s halo 2, this game is still brutal after hundreds of runs. Knowing the little tricks to get an advantage still doesn’t help it either. Superbouncing, Ghosting, and SwordFlying…SLASO itself was one of my hardest challenges. Ghosting is risky if you can’t do it properly, that can kill your entire run.

If you play through halo 3 there’s a glitch no one’s ever discovered. On the last level when you jump the warthog into forward unto dawn, if you land to the far far left or right of the ramp it won’t load the final cutscene and you can drive around the ship

Me and my best bud since high-school are about to start halo 2 legendary campaign coop. We saved it for last as we knew it would be the hardest. But so far we completed all the original games including reach and odst. We even got the rare "Beat ODST on legendary in 3 hours" achievement. Love that you've been playing H2 lately man H2 is the GOAT. If you want a really hard challenge that is doable go for Halo 2 Solo laso. If you can do that any Halo laso is possible, H1 laso is extremely hard too. I solo laso'd Halo 1-Halo 4 to get all the achievements in Mcc, that's a challenge in and of itself. H2 laso was my very last achievement pop for mcc before Reach came out

I beat Halo 2 on Legendary for the first time a few years back and while the experience was full of gamer rage, my appreciation for this masterpiece of a game grew all the more from it. I even decided to duel Tartarus with just an Energy Sword at the end as a proper sendoff to the Campaign.

I'm kinda a halo 2 expert at this point helped discovered some of the newer things. I would do the game in co-op for the first level get to the first load zone kill player 2 with a stick jump and pinch through load zone before player 2 dies he will rag doll but be dead alive on legendary... from here you could push him through with skulls or delay the spawn and skip the first hanger just by going through the door plus p2 will be invincible from here out just can't move which is a good distraction for the elites Also disable sound drivers it ironically speeds the game up when it can't find working audio hardware.

In other games, the high difficulties force the player to master the mechanics of the game while gracefully using your skills in order to dance around the enemies with minimal error. Halo Legendary makes you shoot a single enemy for a minimum of 40 minutes while hoping you don't get obliterated by a random blast while moving at a top speed of 2 miles per hour

My house burned down in 2005, Halo2 collector’s edition was in my xbox, my xbox exploded from the heat, yet the halo2 disc remained unscratched! A lil discoloration on the top, but it worked and still does. I still have it to this day!

It's a lot more bearable if you know the out of bounds and how to de spawn certain enemies, that way you can skip a lot of the jackal sniper sections ! And the game encourages you to do it if you're trying to speed run it on it on legendary ! I was able to beat the par time on legendary for all the campaigns !

Through about 30 something (prob little less) hours it took my best friend and I to beat normal Halo 2 Legendary campaign..each mission took roughly 1-2hours…we dealt with the CO-OP disconnection, halo 2 has a major issue with. Since you’re playing with two ppl you die literally twice as much. It was hell and high water..nothing we said we would put ourselves through again😂..it was insanely good feeling to complete it tho and see the achievements pop up..good luck to everyone who tries Halo 2 legendary..you’ll hate it but it’s worth it!

I hope you take a look at the strange other glitches in halo 2 like the AUP glitch in co-op which lets you control all enemies or allie bipeds and vehicles with out mods or the dead alive glitches which is an extension of the same thing just controlling a corpse to a degree some dead alives can occur in legendary on co-op which could help your run since you know makes you invincible but you cant move only trade off.
