I've been thinking about how through the sacrament Christ feeds us food for our hunger, water for our thirst, followed by an initiatory in the temple where he clothes our nakedness and the verses in Matthew came to mind, "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me"
@patriciamcintyre8409 ай бұрын
In deed our Heavenly Father knows all of our needs. He fullfills his roll of provider by feeding and clothing us. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

I have switched to garments made of 100% cotton. They are cozy in winter and 'breathe' in summer. I love mine. I feel as though I'm taking upon myself the name of Christ as we are counseled to do. To not wear them is to put off the name of Christ. I want the same blessings Adarm and Eve were promised when they received and wore the coats of skin prepared by Christ at the first sacrifice in the Garden of Eden.

I've worn garments for 20 years, now. I NEVER heard that they're a "symbol of the veil" until this video. It's extremely obvious now - like I feel kind of dumb - I just don't know why I was never taught that. OR... why I WAS and it didn't hit me until now. Glad I watched. New perspective and something I will be pondering for a few days.

I've been wearing garments for over 50 years. They have been a reminder of who I am following, a protection from danger, both physical and unseen. They bond me to my husband who passed 15 years ago, a promise to me that my family will continue throughout eternity, and a comfort knowing I can return to the presence of my loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ if I remain worthy to wear them. They have never been a burden but a but, blessing that helps to keep me from the temptations of this world.

Ilove my garments so, so much. I have had some very beautiful insights and direction from the Lord about my garments. He has admonished me to wear them at all times I can, even while I'm swimming. I can wear them while I'm swimming, I have swim shorts and swim shirts that completely cover them. He also instructed me not to partake in any public activity that would force me to take them off, such as specific sports. As I listened and obeyed the blessings have poured out abundantly in all aspects of my life.

LOL But seriously, I'm an ordinance worker and I love helping patron symbolically put on upon themselves the holy garment, which is a reminder of taking upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ and being his disciple and a reminder of our covenants we've made with him. Our Heavenly Father does every single thing he can to help remind us of who we are.

I just love this. When the Lord spoke to his people in the past He said He wanted them to be a Nation of Priests. This is Zion. What may be hard for other religions to accept is that The Church of Jesus Christ does not have a "priest" or leader other than the few men he called from a random cohort of a nation of priests. They can see why the reverend, the father, the nun, the levite had to wear priestly clothes but they cannot accept why a regular member would wear priestly clothes. But the Lord clearly stated that in His kingdom there are only priests so.... I will gladly be the levite and enjoy the trust that is being renewed in me every time I repent, take up my cross and follow Him!.

Question, with the availability of nylon garments that shed water like a duck, as well as swim shirts and knee length swim shorts, WHY exactly do we need to remove the garment for swimming? Having had three very strange close calls in water where it made no sense to drown, I can say that once I got my garments and kept them on, that never happened again. The term "throughout" is key in when we should wear our garment. Throughout means "in every part", "through and through", "from end to end" or "entirely". Remove your garment only when you don't need protection from Satan. Or when you don’t need the Savior.
@Silentpartner21766 ай бұрын
Good, point. Why do we have to take our garments off to swim? I was always told it's not appropriate to get them wet?
@TheHappyNarwhals4 ай бұрын
You get them wet every time you wash them. It’s a personal choice when to and when not to wear them, Most Saints don’t wear them swimming because they wear the cotton/poly blend and that would be awful to swim in.
@myeyepie4 ай бұрын
@@TheHappyNarwhals I find the terminology "personal choice" ambiguous. Every choice is a personal choice in life with consequences. That term seems to be used to imply that whether we keep the instruction to wear the garment or not is somehow not important but it is. Yes we can choose to set aside our covenants and treat Christ as a byword as the scriptures describe. But that has a consequence. We can not choose to set aside the garment, the name of Christ, the garment of the Holy Priesthood, the symbolic covering given us by the Lord to wear for our entire lives, and expect the same blessings promised as if we did keep them. None of us would say it was a personal choice to keep the law of chasitity and fidelity to our spouse. I mean it is our choice. But we know very well that breaking such would have consequences. Treating the garment like something we can set aside to fit in with the world more and to not stand out to them, so we can be of the world and not just in the world, has very real consequences to how consecrated we are and how much the atonement is able to do in our lives. Christ can't save or protect people that reject his requirements. "If ye love me keep my commandments".

@@Hala-ataa Jesus also spent 40 days with his apostles and other parts of the bible elude to more content that was there prior that is now gone that early christians knew, practiced, and had access to. That part of the bible is missing as well where jesus gave further instruction and help for their mission further on in their life without him. Temple covenants aren't written down word for word either. Many sacred things are kept private because the reader would mock that which was too sacred to write down. Doesn't make it any less sacred or not needed in your life. Where did the masons and egyptians get their temple practices from....... Think really hard......
@Hala-ataa8 ай бұрын
@@ShiningSakura I don’t think you have ever even read the scriptures if you use the “too sacred to share” line. 1. The scriptures contain so many things twice as bizarre as a temple ritual. You think God would allow a talking donkey and a prophet marrying a prostitute to be written, but not a handshake or a throat-slitting gesture? 2. The scriptures contain hundreds of things more sacred than the temple. You think God allowed a detailed record of His Son bleeding, crushed by the sins of the world, stripped naked, tortured, and murdered - but somehow it’s “too sacred” to write down a ceremony about funny robes and handshakes? The rituals in the Books of Moses alone are more detailed than the temple we have. Why was it not too sacred to write those down but only for ours? The Lord was actually present in the tabernacles back then- He literally killed the high priest if there was an impurity. I hope you’re not insinuating that Egyptians and Solomon’s masons received temple rituals from God. That would be quite an uneducated claim.

Nowhere in the Bible, does it say that you must wear a garment that is foolishness you’re either a Christian or you’re not

The Bible doesn't have the fullness of the Gospel in it. Many parts of the doctrines of Christ have been removed from it before we got access to it in our day. The Bible has passed through many hands before our generation.

Actually it describes the garment of the priests very well- even describing that they go down to the thigh. We believe when the veil was rent by Christ’s death it now opened the way for all of us to be the holy nation of priests he talked about. So since we make these covenants and are committing to be/become these priests and priestesses to God, it is appropriate that we would wear the same “ linen breeches” described in the Bible. Which is our garments- they represent us covenanting with God, and remind us of our covenants.

Our relationship with the Savior Jesus Christ is not a transactional set of benefits sought. It is an acknowledgment of our dependence on Him and a lifetime commitment to repent and become like Him. Therefore, as imperfect humans, we fall short and need to be reminded of our commitment, which is always voluntary and never a forced compliance. Thankfully, Christ is merciful and kind, unlike many of us as humans…

If you understand the condescension of God, then your oversimplified response is lacking depth to the symbolism of taking upon yourself the name of Christ. It’s a deeper commitment that is offered to everyone. If you choose to not wear it that doesn’t mean Christ cannot be with you. If you covenant with God in His temple It means you need added protection. However, God meets everyone where they are in understanding and opportunity and gives us all protection when we seek Him out. When individuals follow Christ, Satan works on them harder to try and get them off that path. Which is the symbolism behind armor of God. If you are at the frontlines you need more armor. If you’re not fighting or are passive, you don’t need armor. Hopefully that makes more sense.
