On a scale from 0 - 10, zero being very easy and 10 being very difficult, how hard is learning English for you? Tell us about that. What are some of the most difficult parts?

Thank you! I like the idea to count time of learning English in hours! Because when i started to learn English it was pretty intense for a few years but now i don’t make any special efforts to learn, I just using what I have already learned. Though I am reading & listening English pretty much often. I even speak sometimes! But i really wish to improve my spoken English to the higher level!

I really need to focus and concentrate to follow a conversation. I don't feel relaxed like in my mother tongue. I guess I'm too old and have lost this ability. @@EnglishCoach3Ts Dear Tanya, I have a question related to learning English, specifically about the idiom "hit it off." Here’s a sentence I’ve come up with: "Tanya, I’m trying to figure out how to make an impression on you. If I manage to hit it off, maybe we can hit it off as well." I’m not entirely happy with this sentence. I wanted to play with the idiom "hit it off"-using it first to mean "hit the mark" and then to mean "become friends." However, it feels a bit awkward to me. What do you think?
@EnglishCoach3Ts
@EnglishCoach3Ts 3 ай бұрын
Yes, it is awkward. I would not use the same phrase twice, instead simplify it a bit to make it sound more natural and even dynamic. Secondly, to hit it off between a man and a woman commonly means to be interested romantically. It doesn't have to be that way, but should be used with that in mind.
@RegnumV
@RegnumV 3 ай бұрын
@@EnglishCoach3Ts That’s what amazes me about English. I read somewhere on an American site something like: "Harris and Trump shook hands but did not hit it off." How should that be understood? They didn’t find a mutual romantic interest? I think it means they didn’t find common ground.

I love old Shakespearean sonnets too, like this one Sonnet 155 To learn, or not to learn, that is the quest, For English holds a power most divine. If words of love be served, then be my guest, And I shall taste the sweetness of the line. All learners, actors in a grand display, In classrooms vast, where dreams and knowledge meet. We stumble on the stage, yet make our way, With verbs and nouns, our victory complete. O gentle tongue, thou art a tricky friend, Thy rules confound, yet beauty thou dost share. From A to Z, thou hast no mortal end, Thy wisdom grows with each and every dare. So let us learn, and speak with grace anew, For English love is ever bold and true.

Dear Tanya, Sometimes you ask tough questions. The difficulty of learning a language depends on your proficiency level. If you're learning it at the beginner level, it feels similar to my native language, and I'd rate the difficulty as a 3. But if you're studying English at an 'advanced 2' level, it’s so different from my native language that it feels like a brain explosion, and I’d rate it a 7 or 8.

HI Tanya as you see i go over your videos. A QUESTION. what's the difference between Oh my God and Oh my Gosh. The other day I enjoyed more than one hour watching Barbra Streissand in concert. I understood a good percentage but when she said certain things and people burst laughing, I can't, and remain looking in my mind what she said. IT happens to me often under the same circumstances. People laugh and I can't understand about what. I learned every day something more when I see your videos. In my opinion it also depends on who is speaking to have it difficult or not. At watching Forrest Gum, it is another difficulty because the acccent belong to Alabama's people. BYE Tanya, un abrazo, Susana de Argentina.

Hello Tanya in my opinion it's hard to learn English because it is an anglo saxon language. So there are few words or structures similar to Spanish, in this case. I insist on this point, I have been studying a lot of English, at school, institutes, and I prepared the program for First Certificate course. Proficiency is another examinations, very demanding too.But not in american English. Things didn't change. Recently I have started with you the american idiom. The other day I enjoyed a pleasant conversation with a teacher, but she speaks British, and lend me some tales in British English to read. So the head is a whirlpool, believe me. Phrasal, I agree with the rest of people, make matters worse, Bye Tanya, a kiss Susana de Argentina.

I " speak English " because I lived in LA California and I studied the course ESL in L.A. since many years ago and I finished in San Fernando Valley the name of school was named Poly High on Roscoe Blvd. In San Valley, adult school. And even do I can speak and learning - for example with you I can speak 100 % because you speak very clear and Kind of slow, but when I watch a movie they speak to fast and I understand not everything, is the problem with me, actually I can understand if you speak faster indeed, but that's my problem, and I don't have anybody to speak it. on the scale of zero out of ten I would say zero" just kidding ". to make a long strory short. In the beggining I learnt english because my father wanted me to learn english so badly because all his family live in the U.S.A So he sent me to an american school. and beleive it or not as soon as I went to this school I took a shine to my english teacher he was the kindest teacher I had never seen before. A little aside from that the deal I had with my father was if was able to have a decent conversation on the phone with his family in the U.S.A he will sent me to the state for three month so beleive or not when he told me that it was music to ear so I did everything under the sun to learn english and to have this long distance phone call. it sound sillyno but back in the 80th it wasn't as easy and cheap as well to make a a long distance phone call. And then something funny it was when i was actually to the U.S.A in order to get in touch with my parents I used to call in collect and when I was saying to my father the operator is asking you if you accept the collect call I could hear my father full of joy calling out my mom saying you see I told you he speak fluently english. My mother who use to have more her head on her shoulder said hon he just answer a question is not speaking fluently 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Fortunatly I said to make a long story short 😂😂😂😂😂😂.
