If I’m being honest, there are other cards that should have gotten up to the price that Moonbreon is right now, such as any Zeraora card ever (I’m am not biased at all). But jokes aside, the card deserves all the hype and value.

i do think so, i believe that the pokemon its self is an eeveelution and the most popular one at that. on top of that the artwork is outright insane it feels like a modern day masterpiece and with its rarity financially acts like one as well. you also brought up good points about when it was released and the importance of the time period. truly, this card deserves to be worth $3,000 or more. i mean look at one piece some cards are worth upwards of 4k

Never regret buying a mint umbreon for £170 at the start, grading it, got a 10, sold it for £1000 bought another copy for £400 later on again mint. I realised i loved it in my binder. Ill keep this card forever

I left the Pokemon scene after Evolving Skies dropped.. I vividly remember choosing not to purchase that set when I saw it on shelves 😭😂 the umbreon back then was great but now it’s even better, so cool to see as a Pokemon fan who has returned just recently

I think the moonbreon set the standard for alt arts. It’s not just the artwork, it’s also the eveelution line, the chase, and a cultural shift as you stated in the video. Either way, it’s a symbol for the community and it’s an iconic card, hence the price

Just as base set Charizard is the number 1 card in vintage Pokémon, just as this Moonbreon will become/becoming just THAT for the 2020s onward. Pokémon in 2010 to 2020, wasn't as hyped as it was before or after those years. Your pandemic point is perfect, because this card is the resurgence of Pokémon, and the price steadily climbing is due to the fact collectors need to feel a sense of security (card wise) that there is that "holy" card we all aspire to have. That grail card is what keeps the hobby going for that specific time period, and collectors of today need a card to lean on just as vintage collectors grew up relying and leaning on the base set Charizard. It is the backbone. Beautiful term for it.

As always, great content! I've always felt like the Moonbreon is the standard for every collection. I personally have never had it but it's always felt that unless you want your collection to be considered top tier. You at least need 1 copy of it whether Raw or Graded. If I would have followed your tips from your other videos; maybe I would've been able to buy it raw before it exploded again LOL.

The card is undeniably gorgeous with its textured moon pattern, that umbreon standing out larger than life, and alluring colours. It simply stands out from all the chase cards in the sword and shield era. Given its popularity with both older and younger generation collectors, it wouldn’t surprise me this card continues to have high demand and be highly sought after staple collector item like base set zard, even though it has a relatively high pop. You have to remember, base set zard continues to be very popular and it has had several reprints and different versions as a card, whereas the umbreon vmax is just one version and doesn’t benefit from having limited edition or the other various versions that base set zard has, and it still commands a crazy premium

No, I don't think we’ll see another Moonbreon for a very long time.

Seems to me that there's a few of things at play here: 1 - Umbreon isn't usually a chase card (like how you typically get Charizards etc.) And the art plus time of release makes it significant. 2 - It's a card with demand just for the pure love of Umbreon. 3 - The pop showing over 13k PSA 10s could also mean that demand is increasing with people looking to get the card graded and move to sell it to make a quick buck. The thing about all three of these though, is I think it will be more of a short term increase before steadily falling off (3-6 months or 1 year tops). There's going to be some very good sets being released and if we're getting another team rocket set or a trainer set, I think the new hype and new chase cards there will takeover in the same way 151 did just because of the pure nostalgia associated to it. Would be keen to see what you guys think of this^

I believe that the umbreon vmax is one of those special unique card that shine through it all. By that I mean after pendecmic, after 2020, in an interesting time of wars and hardship, from jobs layoff to everything. This umbreon shine through it all. It’s that one card that is made once only in a 2-4 decade. This is my opinion why the umbreon is so special. Now latios and latias is more limit and rare imo, but I still believe umbreon hype and artwork is what does it all. It’s not about prints and so many psa, it’s about how many and demands people wants for the card.

I'd like to see the market of Moonbreon towards the end of S&V era, If focus shifts towards S&V, I want to see how lower interest and high population reports affects It's price.
