Good point, but the "turd" you referred to used to be called, "Factory Mule", though for another reason. My first job in 1979 (age 19) was at a machining plant. They had Company cars & asked me to take the medium blue 1978 Malibu with no A/C or amenities, a very light car. Just automatic transmission & radio. Very boring rental-grade 3,000 lb car. When I turned onto the 55 mph highway up the road, I gave it the gas hard, thinking this cheap slug wasn't going anywhere. Lord was I wrong. That engine let out a roar & the car raced hard past 60 mph faster than I could believe! After I stopped, I looked under the hood & saw a V8. The only optional engine in that model would've been a 305 V8 2bbl carb putting out 130 hp. This was not THAT engine. It was one of the fastest cars I'd been in up to now; mind blowing! I think the factory unknowingly slipped a high performance Corvette L82 350 in there? In comparison that '78 Corvette weighed 3,520 lbs. The L82 put out 220 hp. A heck of a ride for a 3,000 lb car!

Also could be because the truck is still really new. Could take time to break in. My dad had a 450 Honda racing ATV years ago. Buddy of his bought the same thing (brand new mind you) and they drag raced. My dad’s was faster and it was the same exact thing. It just wasn’t brand new. Could also be the same case.

I think the biggest difference between your 21 and 24 is the loss of gearing with those bigger tires (35’s?). Makes a big difference on acceleration.

Wrong, once your piston rings are seated, you should have full compression. Usually after 300 miles, also, I would do an oil change between 800-1000 miles. Don’t follow the factory recommendations. They are designed to keep your truck save for the power train warranty period.
@gofasturnleft0125 күн бұрын
@@ze_german2921 you are correct about the mechanical break in, but some manufacturers have a “break in” tune that nerfs the ignition and fuel for the first x miles or engine hours. Definitely dump that factory break in oil at 500 miles especially if you are going to be hard on the motor. Oil is cheap compared to internal engine work.

What’s your respective rear end gear ratios? Ford comes with 3.73, 3.55, and 3.30. Also off road tires are much heavier that the stock passenger tires for puts on. Factory freaks don't exist anymore. Manufacturering tolerances and ECU tuning are too close these days. Your issue is you're brake stalling too long. Sport mode, nannies off, hard as possible on brakes, mash the gas to the floor, and release the brakes Sitting on the TC creates a ton of heat amd lag. Also, ambient heat and humidity sucks a ton out of a naturally aspirated motors. Think an easy 0.5 seconds slower and 3-4mph in the 1/4 mile in 80+ degree temps. Density altitude is a real thing. Those heavy wheels and tires are killing the times too. Cool weather and lighter wheels/tires you're in the low 5s or better.

switch back to stock tire/wheels and see if there is a difference. Off road wheels and tires make a big difference on 0-60 times.
@fcdrummer180623 күн бұрын
That’s part of the problem, your big tires are def the problem. Second problem, you need to tune the truck, it sounds like it’s shifting a little early. Get a tune with a good intake with headers and a tune and your truck will fly. You can tune it on E-85 or 93. You’ll get more power on E-85 though.

People keep saying its tbe engine not broken in...lol. The difference is in the 60ft time. The initial launches were 2.50 60ft. You shaved over .3 off the 60ft, that will easily knock .6 off the quarter mile. That 2.5 launch would be a bad launch even in 2wd, it was in 4wd. Whatever happened to create the better 60ft made all of the difference. Not more power. Now this performance is what I would have expected, and in garbage weather. Good job sir, truck has been redeamed.

It may be some factory programming to help with gas mileage, it wouldn't surprise me at all. I have a 2019 Tundra with 5.7l, when you put it in tow mode it seems to unleash the power. Daily driving (not in tow mode) I get 16-17mpg and I don't drive slow, I think that's pretty good for a 5.7 so maybe the programming does help.
