No medications helped. They sent me to pain management. Now I have to get an MRI and Nerve test done. Hi Rachael, thanks for watching and for your question. Hard scar tissue can become softer but sometimes it takes a lot of hard work to improve the tissue flexibility. I must say hard work usually pays off with scar tissue. Jen

Thank you for your wonderful videos….not only are you charming, but *most* informative, too! Three weeks ago I had a single mastectomy with 1 sentinel lymph node removed and just last night I realized I’ve developed cording. 😬 I intend to watch your videos on this topic, too! Even though it’s only been 3 weeks, I have been experiencing precisely those odd, “tingley” flashes of sensation around the area where my breast was reconstructed: I actually has a procedure called a Goldilocks so I have a small mound of re-purposed tissue still remaining. I was very glad to hear you say that this is the symptoms of nerve regeneration, as I had suspected. 👍🏼👍🏼

This is the closest information I’ve run across since my double mastectomy 2 weeks ago. I’m not numb….far from it. All of a sudden, two days ago, the insides of both arms as well as the sides of my body, directly adjacent to them, started hurting worse than anything since surgery. The pain seems very superficial, only meaning that it seems like it’s the skin…like bad sunburn, but when looking at it, there is nothing there. There’s no redness, swelling, bruising, etc. , just tender beyond ability to ignore it though. The drains are still in place and probably not going to be removed in two days, when I go in for my 2 wk checkup, since they’re still draining, but after hearing this video, I’m a bit less concerned about this (seemingly) peripheral discomfort. I don’t think I would have been as concerned, had it been there since surgery, but when it cropped up two days ago and at such a distracting level, I was shocked and clueless! I’d welcome a little numbness at this point. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!😊

Hi, it sounds like you might have Post Operative Myalgia. This is a condition that is not super common but it can happen following breast cancer surgery. Post Operative Myalgia is where nerve tissue that has been traumatized from surgery produces nerve pain in the few weeks following surgery. Definitely get checked by your Medical Team and explain your symptoms but that is my best guess from a distance! If I am correct women with this condition get prescribed neuropathic pain medication to settle symptoms down. It usually resolves over a week or so. I hope this helps. Is there any test to carry out to after breast cancer surgery to know if the cancer is still in the breast or spread to any other place
@TheBreastCancerPhysio2 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment and sorry for my slow reply. Most patients will have their breast tissue sent to pathology after surgery to make sure there are clear margins. This means the pathologists are making sure the surgeon has cut a large enough section of tissue away around the tumor to make sure they have not left small sections of tumor behind. Other tests can include PETscan or whole body CTscan. Double check this information I have provided with your Medical Team as they should be able to let you know as well. When I look in the mirror and compare the two, my right breast is darker and my nipple is darker than my left, it’s like there’s a brown circle around it. Also, it’s not my underarm that feels nimble, it’s my breast where the radiation was targeted. Is this normal? Also, where the radiation was targeted, my skin feels so hard and rough there. I had breast cancer operation in September 2022. I am still sore in the region where the drainage system was put in near my armpit. I also had a blocked drain from the day of the operation and I am swollen under my arm and feels like a ball is under my arm. I have Cerebral Palsy. So my mastectomy was on the left side and my water gathered in my cur. I told the doctor three times the drain didn't work. Is that why I have this swelling. Some said i have scar tissue others say fatty tissue and tell me the operation will be major and will hamper me. I am also trying to keep my home which the manager of theh retirement village wants me out. She is causing me stress. I am having to look for a new home off the property. I also have a mother of 93 wanting me to leave the retirement village. She is stuck in the home where we are struggling to pay. I want her to come with me. How can I reduce the stress so I don't reaccur.

This is most likely Lymphoedema but I would have this diagnosed by a Medical Professional to be sure. There are other reasons swelling can occur in the arm.
