A very comprehensive video, thanks Brian. Many pc owners are duped by salespeople into buying a new computer when all they needed was the machine cleaning ...hardware and software. Temp files as well as saving films etc will build up till there is no hard drive space left . I have noticed over many years that after I did a Windows update and checked the pc with a cleaner I got a lot of errors which were keys in the Registry being left open. I'm using CCleaner atm and always run the Registry checker followed by Malwarebytes. Defragging and trying to pull off films is very slow with a full HDD , so folks, think about doing something by the time a HDD gets to 90% full. I bought two 128GB SSHD some time ago and one has failed and it wasn't used that much so not impressed with them..agreed they are a lot faster.

Thanks Brian :-D When ive cleaned machines for people, the temp directorys are chock full of old rubbish from bloody years ago!, ive seen most of the drive lost because windows doesnt clear temp directorys, and owners just dont know. Next the Recycle bin is full to the gills, then junk from uninstalled programs thats left behind. Clear out internet exploder, remove all visual effects. Stop pointless services and auto adobe acrobat updater + others. Check other profile directorys full of crap. Defrag hard drive. Makes a hell of a difference :-D.

Would you believe ive had 6 year old machines that have never been cleared out, all the internet history is there from the first day they started using it. Full to the brim with 6 years of mess, its just mad LOL :-D Yes ive had the same reaction of many people :-D

I'd like to point out that maybe you should have people check the Hibernation File. Not used it should be Deleted. I found nearly 4 gb of space regained.

When your HDD is filling up, it won't effect the speed. SSD however, do slow down once it's filling up.

on windows 8, 8.1, and 10 you can use the Defrag tool it is already smart enough to detect what drive you are using if it is a SSD or HDD, even on Samsung Magician Software now already can detect if your using windows 8 and up it will disable its Trim and let Windows do the Trim command and it is incorporated in Defrag tool already, a bit of miss leading there. On Windows 8 and up when you select the defrag tool and do analyze then click Optimize it will Trimmed the SSD and Defragment the HDD. It is safe to say now you can use Defrag you SSD on windows 8 and up not on Windows 7 and below

I wondered if you would cover hardware in your video as I used to be called on to fix friend and families computers all the time wondering why their computer was so slow and usually the problem was they ended up updating Windows but their computers were so old that updating actually caused more harm than good. Also another problem I would see you don't mention is many of them bought a computer with Windows installed and it usually comes pre-installed with a anti-virus scanner by default so they think they are all set up and over time just take it for granted and then come to me with viruses and other stuff from the anti-virus no longer being updated after the usual year of free updates and them not listening to it yelling to renew now or just ignoring the message since they don't take time to learn the basics of keeping stuff up to date that any messages they see gets ignored. Too many times I used to spend hours updating basic windows updates and drivers and everything else to get stuff up and running for them until I no longer do it from having done it so many times for the same people. Also if you are a parent who lets their kids use the computer, I had a time where her kid kept turning off the firewall to get bit torrent and games to work and more worried about porn I found on the computer then the firewall issue even after I tried explaining it :P Since you use Ccleaner as a tool , you may want to google JDiskReport as well for freeing up space too if you know what you are doing. It basically works using Java so it works in most OSes that have itt and scans drives or directories and finds the space hogs on your drives. You definitely want to use it with care and only get rid of stuff it finds that you know is safe to remove as removing stuff you have no clue about has messed up people's Windows experience from the file being needed. One last thing that so many people can do that is so simple and they will thank me if they have a computer that is slow and do not already know the stuff you covered is get a spare USB drive off Amazon or somewhere and back up those precious photos to it or anything else you want to keep as too many times my mom's older friends were worried about losing them and ended up doing just that from not having backups. Heck , just moving all your photos from the computer to a drive can sometimes free up lots of space due to how big digital photos can get each time and depending how long you have had them stacking up on your drive. A pay option I like to use for uninstalling programs is Revo Uninstaller Pro as well since Windows uninstaller tends to leave leftover stuff behind when used most of the time. Revo Uninstaller has a free version I see as well but bear in mind it's an older version. Hope that helps you and others out and sorry for the long reply.

Assuming everything else is good (by having checked of course) the biggest bang for the buck performance increase for just about any modern computer is an SSD and they can be gotten extremely cheap these days. Especially those inexpensive laptops people seem to love. Slap one in and it runs better than when it was new and it never ceases to amaze people, they look at me like I am some sort of wizard when they boot it up for the first time.

Sorry for being an arse (or pain in one) but CCleaner Startup section has the additional tabs for Scheduled Tasks which ren't necessary and can slow things down, there's also the Context Menu tab. CCleaner's Browser Plugins function also comes in handy. Not trying to promote CCleaner, just saying. And there's still WinPatrol as a utility for performance improvements with the added bonus of some realtime monitoring for malicious items and system changes. Have great weekend mate.

Reinstalling Windows because you think you're computer is slow is a waste of time. Defragmenting your hard drive is a good idea. Deleting temp files can also help. I use Spybot S&D 1.62 to do that. Removing Google Updater is another thing to do. I've never had Cccleaner do anything useful.

I noticed that there is one thing you forgot to mention when you talked about Memory, if you want to add more memory, you must first see how much memory your operating system's architecture can handle. If you are running a 32 bit operating system, you cannot have more than 4 GB ram. In such case you may need to either free up some memory or change to a 64 bit operating system before you add more memory.

I rarely clean my computer, and my external hard drive is over 90%, but My Local disk is over 90% free space, and I have lots windows open (11 window) and 8 tabs. I have Windows 7 clean install since 2011, and i still have it. I'm not planning to clean install, and I have lots of virtual machine stored in my disk. I have my computer for over 3 years, and runs really fast still, and is asus laptop 900 gb, and is really good for heavy task.

Oh I have myself don't get me wrong, a lot of systems that have upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 have been pretty slow, sluggish and just not able to cope with the demands of windows 10, others have sailed right through it. I'd say I've seen more bad upgrades then smooth ones, which is why I'd stick to windows 7. Building a brand new system and installing 10 works fine 90% of time. Again, just from my experiences. Great channel btw, been a sub a long time.
