Just have a problem similar but my heater burns do works for like 2 min then they turn off even with the controller in always on then the all system shuts off and I starts again very quickly in seconds keeps doing the same for a couple more times then heater shuts off for last time and never come back on do you know what happen???

You single-handedly saved Christmas! My heat has been out and my landlord has not sent anybody out yet and it’s been in the 20s the last week and we’ve been freezing. As soon as I did this, it automatically kicked right on and I’m starting to feel the warmth and I’m able to take off my hat and gloves in my house now. Lol thank you so much.!!!

Seems like that was it for mine! Thank you very much for making this video! My Heil furnace was turning off about 5 minutes after burning then would turn back on after 30 seconds or so. Changed the limit switch and seemed to help but still didn’t stay on for the full cycle.

In my case, my heater will gas on, but then shut down, then within 5m, will try to turn on again. But then other times, the heat has no problem turning completely on. Could a dirty sensor be an intermittent problem?

Thanks for the video. I have the same problem with a new American Standard system. Only a year old. It’s under warranty. Tech came out and did exactly what you did. Said sensor was reading 2.8 and should be reading 3.2. Whatever that means. Next day it started doing the same thing. On for a few minutes. Off for a minute and then back on for a few mins. Tech returned and replaced the flame sensor. Unfortunately today it is doing the same thing. Any idea what other issue could be causing this.

Hello, I got a Trane xe90 split system. My furance short cycles 3 or 4 times then I get a hard stop. It usually runs for couple minutes then stop but as it short cycles the run times get less. Reset power and it repeats. Flame sensor is very clean. Any ideas? Thanks

In my case the furnace flames stays around for 30-40 sec and then turns off and after some time again turns on. I cleaned the sensor multiple times. Can you please let know Is there anything else I should consider ?

Interesting, techs ALWAYS cite the need to replace sensor at a couple hundred $. I didn't know you could just clean it, even though I'd tell them 'sensors rarely just 'go out.''...'well they fail from the heat,'...ok, right, whatever. But mine is tripping after longer run, (new sensor and new filters) and it seems to be due to flimsy return air duct in attic. But it's not blocked and I don't want to spend $1200 and still have issue.

Hello sir , I have a question I hope you can guide me to understan better . We got our furnace about less than 3 years , we bought 7 years service so they come twice a year check heat or ac cold , this year they came to service furnance for hot air . The man this time went & sat down in front of the furnace for over 30 minutes , I ask him What's up ? he said checking the gas presure , the man was huge so I was not able to watch him , when I starded to ask him what's wrong he took the sensor out & pretends he is cleaning , but before he was taking some part out & shove it in his left side bag , when he left heat was not like before , when we put the thermostat at 74 or at night 75 hust to warm out fast then go back to 74 , what ever the man did to our furnace we have to keep it at 79 , then works only 5 minutes then turn off . I have complain 3 time they send someone else & play dumb , are you able to guide me what he has done . we have paid for 7 years service , each time they come they try to sell something . Is that amazing ?

Ok mine was doing this and my flame sensor and igniter are one piece. I went to clean it and the ignitor broke. So I replaced it. It was working fine for a few weeks now it's clicking on and off again. It will ignite, the blower does come on then after a couple minutes the gas cycles on and off.

Also it's a Kenmore furnace. If it sits off for awhile it works fine but then after running awhile it starts doing it again. I assume something is getting hot and not working correctly. Which is more likely the board or the gas switch?

My furnace would start up and stop, after a few attempts it turn on, so I cleaned sensors, replace my wall thermostat plus it never gave me a warning ligth, so I replaced the control board and still nothing, finally I suspected the gas valve was not opening completely and bingo! I replaced it and it worked like normal. This went on for 6 years . I had it look at befor, but the person just cleaned the flame sensor, moved a few things, and did not know what it was , granted it was I. Summer so he could not replicate the issue.

No, this is not my problem. I've replaced the flame sensor, the controller board, the gas valve. The blower works, but doesn't turn on when the heater is turned on. Everything turns on, doesn't blow, after 5 min it turns off. The fan itself works fine. The AC works fine. the blower has no issues coming on with those, but not the head.

Why don't you provide an alternative solution if that doesn't work? I just tried with a Rheem and nothing. What if the ignition pilot doesn't glow before igniting the rest of the fire tubes?

Exactly what my furnace is doing but after cleaning and even replacing the sensor, still won't keep a flame for more than four or five seconds. None of these videos, including this one, give advise of what's next. I'm being told I need a whole new furnace.

Hmm, Is it flashing any codes? I always check the filter first and foremost, if you don’t have a new one to put in yet, just pop it out and let it breath and go from there

Is it keeping the home where you want it at, temperature wise? If so, it may be incorrectly sized for your home. If not, then there is definitely another issue.

Yes it’s not common but they can go bad. They need a good connection so if the screw is not snug and it’s not making a good connection to ground, they will have issues
