FINALLY, something I've tried extensively before being covered on this channel! So as impressed as I am with this software, it's REALLY unstable. Crashes a lot when mesh collisions don't play well, especially with unconventional imported models (tails, multi-object bodies, feathers, etc.) and/or higher quality deformation settings. That's honestly why I surmised it's completely free; as amazing as its offerings are, they know well themselves that it's not ready for a full-fledged industry adoption. Also, as cool as the customization options are (especially love the extruding skirt length and full-body automated skinning start), it still suffers from a similar issue of difficulty in automated weight transfers with most other cloth addons like Simply Cloth. So to get the final pose that you want, it will STILL rely heavily on how well the weights are handled by your original FBX model. BUT, these are my experiences from having used them in like late 2022. Happy to still see it get its deserved coverage. A very ambitious software, and it definitely doesn't disappoint in what it can bring. I'll give it another go actually, and hope that it's improved on their stability.

Hard app crashes shouldn't still be a problem in this decade with modularity & isolation of modern software architecture. Without a good source of funding I doubt this'll be resolved anytime soon, if at all - with a free application like this, where's the money for this sponsership coning from? Sounds like another MLM-esque creator data prison/honeypot scam.
@nisbahmumtaz909 Жыл бұрын
@@TheYahmez Apparently Audaces is already a brand name in the fashion automation industry. They're also dipping their toes in the 3D modeling with their income I guess. And to be VERY fair, I've really tried to probe and mess to the utmost extent that the software will allow, to make it crash. Like, literal alien bug creatures with separate exoskeletal mesh faces, which forced like 40+ face cloths on the abdomen alone. Their team is also quite responsive to my complaints, when I last conveyed my issues. So try not to default to pessimism, especially when you've never tried it at all. I admit that I omit a lot of details in my assessment, but that's mainly because I'm not your bog standard model enjoyer. I know just how convoluted my FBXs are, and I speak from that position. So I'm pretty sure this software would work just fine with most humanoid and animals without any crashes.

I wasted 450 on MD just for them to tell me they’re going sub only and my one time license will be no good with future updates unless I surrender it for a subscription, so I’ve been waiting for a company to replace them for the longest. I hope them and any other cloth program replaces them for good. I don’t like predatory business models for a program that blocks creativity.

I like the idea of creating directly in 3d and not having to draw 2d patterns, but once done can you export the clothes and simulations back to blender or other 3d software?
@nisbahmumtaz909 Жыл бұрын
Yup you can. It uses standard FBX import/export. The issue is that it doesn't carry over the (very important) FBX data back, like weights and vertex groups... at least when I last tried it a year or so back. Maybe it's there now?

@amorphous-d8e6 ай бұрын
Damn! i was so excited about this until i read that it installs telemetry and a licence server! really could do with a good, free or even perpetual alternative to MD. i don't see the point of launching a competitor to MD if you're going to charge a similar subscription eventually with fewer features. i wouldn't mind something a little less fully featured than MD if it was cheaper or free. The indie/solo game dev space is really lacking something like this atm, unless of course you want to use blender. but the cloth simulation just really isn't good enough yet.

This app definitely looks like malware. And yes, it installs at least other 2 apps, which one is instaled as a service. The author says it works with extremely low resource requirements, but I see the opposite thing - their service highly loads my SSD at the PC startup. I know, all these apps from Adobe, Autodesk, etc. do the same thing. But when an unknown "free" program does that, there are many questions appear. Do they spy on user? Why do they do so? :) I think if an app is really free, it should not install any "licensing services". Be aware, guys.

@DocWolph Жыл бұрын
@@brianmolele7264 That does not make sense. Why would the servers being down "insure" you buy the program when not having the servers up so you can access the program would guarantee you do not want to buy the program? What you are describing is the typical new company does not 1) have their stuff fully together or 2) higher demand than they are set up to supply. This is NOTHING new or suspicious. And no, I don't think the program will be free forever. But having trouble "getting in the door" does not mean the program is free [at the time of this posting].
