Why is Pitcairn the World's Loneliest Island?

This is Pitcairn Island, known as one of the most isolated territories in the world.
Its geographical location makes it one of the most hidden places on earth.
The story behind this island was intense enough to bring great Hollywood stories to life.
Despite being a paradisiacal place, with stunning scenery, Pitcairn was once the scene of cruelty…
But why are the Pitcairn Islands a risky destination even today?
And why do only the bravest travelers make it here?
The Pitcairn Islands are located in the South Pacific…
A small island measuring around 4.6 km²
There are around 240 islands similar to this one within São Paulo
This place is so isolated from the rest of the world that its neighbors are absurdly far away.
The closest is almost 500km away.
This is the closest point to Pitcairn that has some inhabitants.
About 1000 people live here, this also isolated place is Mangareva of the Gambier Archipelago
The next one is more than 2 thousand km away.
And it's called Rapa Nui
On this side, Pitcairn is more than 5 thousand km from New Zealand.
And on that other side, more than 5 thousand km from South America.
It is so isolated that some studies indicate that this may be the most inaccessible place in the world!
But in fact the most isolated place in the world today is called Tristan da Cunha and we're going to talk about that place in a moment!
But the Pitcairn Islands don't just stand out for being one of the most isolated places on the planet, their true highlight comes from the peculiar way in which this land was populated.
In 1788 a sailing ship from England went to Tahiti,
The mission of these 46 men was just to collect some plants and take them to the Antilles.
Captain William was responsible for all the people and the collection mission.
Travel at that time depended on 3 factors: getting the route right, good weather and luck.
This is because navigators depended on winds, they depended on maintaining food supplies and when they were lost at sea, no one generally came back.
These men stayed in Tahiti for around 6 months,
So the time has finally come to return and finally fulfill their mission.
But not everything went as planned, some crew members didn't want to leave, as they decided to spend the rest of their lives there.
But they were forced to get on the ship and return, once on the high seas these rebellious crew members began a coup against the ship's captain.
Around 18 crew members rebelled that day, and desperately wanted to return to Tahiti.
And the coup was a success, the captain was forced to abandon his own ship and set adrift in a small canoe.
Along with Captain William, it was his supporters who decided to remain with him regardless of his fate.
The rebels determined to return abandoned their captain and began a journey back to Tahiti.
William's small boat, which managed to carry a few provisions and fresh water, wandered through calm waters for 47 days, until arriving in Timor.
There they got help and were able to return to their homeland.
Meanwhile, the rebels returned to Tahiti, there are historical studies that indicate some possibilities for such determination.
Among them is the possibility that the rebel leader called
Christian fell in love with a Tahitian woman, and did all this scam just to see her again.
In any case, the rebels managed to reach Tahiti, but they didn’t stay there…
For they feared that Captain William might return some day and demand justice for the rebellion.
So they fled the place, never to be found again.
And Christian possibly took his wife.
But not all the rebels acted as a group, in fact they split up, some stayed in Tahiti, and others followed Christian
In this way, around 9 people left Tahiti in search of a new home.
Another less romantic version says that they kidnapped Tahitian women and took them by force.
After wandering the ocean, searching for a hidden location, they finally arrived at Pitcairn.
The island was completely uninhabited and there would in fact be the place where they would hide and live happily ever after.
The determination of this group was so great that they decided to burn their ship, their only form of transport, thus destroying their chances of leaving the place.
Currently one of Pitcairn's biggest tourist attractions is the remains of the English ship, which was burned by the relentless determination of the rebels.

No - single island Pitcairn is 4,6 square km. Pitcairn island composition that contains 4 or 5 small islands might be 49 square km - it's included ocean
