The action by the school was not against the religion ,it was against Muslim pupils bullying others for not following the religion as profoundly as they thought it should be . It was a bullying matter and the school quite rightly took steps to deal with the problem.

@@bubu60112 The parents signed a document upon applying that states religion is not practised in the school (i think). The school said the students could pray in their free time. This started to cause problems between students, so they took that privilage away, it seems. Students need to be taught that they need to be respectful. Perhaps they started to chastise or encourage others that they should be praying and other parents complained so they adapted and said Ok now we have changed the rule because we are thinking of the group. This is how dicipline in school has to be otherwise it causes unfairness. There has to be one rule that applies to everyone. Students hate unfairness, when they see rules being applied willy nilly they become unruly as they start to question every adult as to what they are allowed and not allowed to do and evrything comes up for debate. Everything being up for debate wastes teacher time and causes learning to be less effective.

It's a secular school, parents know that when they sign up their child for the school. Muslim children that were choosing to pray were threatening other children to do so, not only to pray, but to fast, etc etc. The High Court made the right decision. In this particular case, it was the school policy that it was a non-faith school. If you don't like that policy, then you don't send your kids there. And you certainly don't send your kids to a school with a policy that you don't like and then try to legally force the school to change the policy.

France do it the correct way. I finished off my education in France. First at collège and then in the final lycèe stage to prepare to sit the bac. Religion is completely kept out of French schools. They are 100% secular.
