The facts are important in setting up the framework, but mostly I really liked those added personal touches, like the story about your friend and your message at the end. You had some great observations too. Man, I'd love to see some more qualitative type videos on social issues in Shanghai from a personal perspective. Or just stories from people's lives. The good, the bad, the ugly. Anyways, great stuff, man.

@@shanghaiandi768Reading @FromDkWithLove 's comment made me realize that's the common thread in most of the videos and channels I watch on KZbin (including this one, even tho I was originally looking for something else!) - well-researched but also with personal experiences and anecdotes from/about the local community. This is the first video of yours I've seen, but I think you did this really well, and that it's a really good style /approach that people tend to resonate with.

It also depends on your age, I think. And if you’ve actually worked in a workplace or at home. I'm 43 now, but in my 20s and 30s, before remote working, I needed to have a lot of friends. I made big efforts to make friends usually through work. But now, for me, going into my 40s and living with my partner, I value alone time after many draining and fake friendships. Now I have just a couple of true friends and meet just a couple of times a month, and that is enough for me.

im so glad to see this video, this is how I felt living in Shanghai two years ago,i left Shanghai to the US and now getting back to Shanghai soon again, still love the energy there tho.i love the city, what I learnt during the time away is, it is ok to be alone and lonely, it is better to be alone than try hard to fit in. Love Shanghai still!

Look, in the skies of cities in China, it is rare to see the color blue. It's strange that everything appears white, hazy, and blurry. Why is that? I hope that in the future, the structure and concept of this dead city can be changed to make it a vibrant and lively city, just like Saigon. The concept and structure of a city without passion and appear lifeless...the structure of Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xiong An, Shenzhen, Beijing, and other cities in China are the concept of a dead or dying city, without passion...those who come to Shenzhen eventually feel that Shenzhen is not as lively and not alive...this is because the structure and concept of the city are dead.... The concept of a vibrant and lively city is a city structure concept like Saigon, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Tokyo, New York, Manila, and others. When you are in cities in China, you will feel like you are not in the city, it is more like a village with apartment blocks and feels like a collection of villages, you do not feel like you are in a city. In contrast, when you are in Saigon, you feel that this city is so alive and full of passion.
