This 1993 Mitsubishi Evolution 1 RS is where the history of a legend all started. This JDM spec EVO is nothing but the business with it's 2.0 inline-4 turbocharged engine to it's AWD system! This is a historic RALLY CAR!

thanks man I really appreciate it! I wanted to use a little footage from the drive. I was so frustrated that the GoPro messed up the audio. The great news is I also did a review of a JDM 1993 Toyota Supra and the audio is perfect so stay tuned!

Mason Scott : Great comment Mason! I know this is jumping ahead a bit but Joe start thinking of where the RR OG party is going to be when you hit 100K. For the people that have been with you from the beginning. One more thing, is it my imagination or did you pick up like 400-500 Subs in a 1-2 day period? 10K by the weekend would be nice. Smash the SUB button people and keep Joe pumped up!

It really is just blowing my mind and I am so grateful for every step f this journey! On Saturday I was at like 8600 subs and now I am over 9300. I am a firm believer in thinking positive thoughts, and I am just focused on one review at a time. I think it will catch on and people will see the work that I put in and how I really am trying to create a community of enthusiasts. I am going to be putting together some kind of celebration for that 10,000 sub mark. Thank you for keeping me motivated with your encouragement!

Was lucky enough to grow up in New Zealand . Every homologation model was available...and cheap. Mazda familia GTR , Toyota celica GT4 , Nissan Pulsar GTIR , Mitsubishi Galant Vr4 / Evo o , Subaru Wrx , All the Lancer Evo's ... Plus the mighty Nissan skylines , supra , etc We were truly spoiled with Japanese cars .. Yet if you were a v8 Holden or Ford fan , you paid an arm and a leg for one of those lol. Have a lot of great memories/experiences of the early lancer evo's Fantastic cars .... The Evo 3 and 6.5 being my pick of the bunch 👌👍 Thanks for the upload

The iconic Evo version for me was prob the 3 and beyond models. The Evo 3 was featured in the anime called Initial D and Jackie Chan used Evo for his movies. And the Evo 3 was featured in the movie Thunderbolt where he raced a rival driving a Skyline GTR. The Lancer Evo 1 and 2 were souped up version of the mundane Lancer hence the name Evolution. The Evo 3 got more aggressive front bumper, aero styling and the bigger and iconic rally style wing at the back. The original Evo had only 247bhp, Evo 2 had 256bhp, with better compression ratio and turbo unit. The power has been bump up to 270BHP. The power was bump to 280BHP and stay that way for years due to some manufacturer agreement to limit all power figures of engine to only 280bhp. It def sad to see a legend die off and reborn as a SUV. I am def with you with the reaction. These Evos will def be collectors item in the next few years when the later Evo gens are allowed into the states. I personally wanted a Evo 6 Tommi Mäkinen Edition aka Evo 6.5 to some guys as a collection car as well as the Subaru WRX STi 22B which is the unicorn of all Subaru STi. They were my all time fav rally heros.

You really hit the nail on the head! I can't wait for all the cars that you mentioned to turn 25 years old so we can get them here in the USA and I can bring them to everyone at Raiti's Rides!

Legend says that some number of Skyline GT-R R34s got around that engine power restriction agreement and actually made over 300hp.

Why do I like things (Not People) that are asymmetrical? That hood vent only on one side is dope. This EVO has some very advanced technology for 1993... That is 25 years ago! Seems hard to believe. EVO’S IMO have always had very cheap interiors. Great review packed with information as usual. That’s the teacher in you coming out. Surprised to hear that’s the first time driving a right wheel sided car. Definitely takes getting used eh?
@RaitisRides6 жыл бұрын
I am right their with you Philip! I really love the asymmetrical design, especially in JDM rally cars. Thank you for the kind words! I really feel like my 17 years of teaching experience . really helps me in my reviews. Ask Tom, I took to the RHD like a fish to water! The biggest issue was the turn signal stalk. It's on the opposite side of the steering column. So every time I went to change lanes I turned on the wipers! lol
@metaljew44566 жыл бұрын
Raiti's Rides right hand drive. Yeah, that’s the term! I would never get used to the turn signal stalk on the WRONG side

I love these models, I've driven a few of them. They are how homologation is suppose to be done, it is a direct descendant of its rally counterpart and I love them for it...say.... a lot more than Ford with their half assed attempt, as an early RS owner I was so annoyed they skimped on the 4WD and was more about quantity than quality which is something the Japanese didn't do..... Respect!

Honestly, you shouldn’t have included the drive since it had no audio, rendering it completely useless. Just saying. Saw this car for sale, pretty cool. When my 14’ MR is paid off(4-5 years at the latest), I’m going to purchase either a Evo 3, 5, 6, or a GC8 STi(and keep the MR as a daily or build it, I just love it TOO much!) Already got the OK by my wife, since I got the MR partially for her. By that time there will be so many other amazing JDM brutes we never got legal to import, that it’ll be a tough choice.
@RaitisRides6 жыл бұрын
It broke my heart when the audio wasn't there. If you turn up the volume you can here Tom and I talking. I think you can tell from my face just how excited I was and that is what I really wanted to share. Please stay tuned because I also have a Toyota Supra video that has FULL sound. You are so right we are getting close to the sweet spot of a TON of JDM legends that we will be able to bring over.

The 2 and 3 are substantially better cars. Much more refined. The gearboxes were their Achilles heel, hence why many of the rally cars ended up with straight cut dog boxes. Question about this car though. It wasn't imported from Australia by any chance was it?
