Why is The Isle Community so Toxic?:
Ever since the reveal of the currently work in progress camera changes and its catastrophic backlash that a new subject has risen from this massive debacle. With the rampant wave of criticism that formed from this unforeseen upcoming update, many people have been taking a step back and observed this new phenomenon unfold, making the final conclusion that this incident, regardless if it is justified or not, displayed the extremely toxic side of the isle’s fanbase.
Everyone that is part of this community is very much aware of how vicious people within it can be sometimes, either in game or in social media, but to many this also seems to be the first time they experienced that this intensely, with some questioning the origin of said behaviour and if theres even a solution for it, so I thought it would be interesting to discuss this specific topic today.

Funny timing on this. Was trying to get to an inland lake as a Gator and got my head kicked in by a mixpacked gang of Pachys, Tenos and Dilos and they didn't even eat me. Respawn as a Cera and get killed and teabagged on by a hacking Carnotaurus. The dude somehow morhped from juvenile to adult right in front of my eyes, and dropped dead twice in the fight to only resurrect and then teabag me once he inevitably killed me. There are some sad losers who play this game.

Most common showcase of the difference in toxicity between PoT and The Isle are the moments when you meet another player in-game. In PoT, you'll first look at eachother, and either start a fight, or just hang out and talk about life and etc. In The Isle, when someone sees you, one of you is gonna die, no other options.

The Devs kinda made that toxic community themselves by letting a lot of slimy sh*t slide while just flat out ignoring people who are obviously being passive aggressive. While also turning around and banning/muting people with valid concerns and complaints. This behavior has been allowed to fester ever since the games debut. Also from my experience of being with this game for 8 years people cant STAND IT when you have any criticism on their ideas about anything even if it makes no sense what so ever from a gameplay point of view. The game is also mostly dominated by kids who were probably never told ''No'' in their life so when they dont get what they want they'll rage in all caps at anyone who disagrees with them. (I've had my fair share of experiencing that in the discord) Even at the Devs. All I know is if its a game based on surviving or being a animal, dont be surprised when not only the Developers end up being toxic, but the entire community because it seems to be a running gag on the animal genre now.

All of the things I think add on to the isles' toxicity: first of all: one life, one death - If you die, you can't continue at half your previous growth or something along those lines. Your dino is dead, you can't get it back. You can recreate it, sure, but with paths' system it feels like a temporary setback, with the isles' you just leave the game or force yourself to continue not having fun. 'Experimental' updates and toxic devs - Look at any saphir cerato (luv yuu btw) video, take a playlist of everything since the beginning of 2024. You will see toxicity, blatant insults, and stubborness among most devs, though some devs (like punch, punch is best boy) are cool, but back on topic. People are banned from discord for going against the 'experimental' features that were 'going to happen whether you like it or not' 5 minutes ago. It's to the point that you can hear the fear in private discord messages, like the devs are watching and waiting, legitimately _hoping_ to find someone to big-red-button. Actual 1984 moment. Balancing, slow updates, big promises, wrong order of changes - BIG ONE HERE, SEVERAL PARAGRAPHS Balancing between different creatures and creature ages is weird. A fresh juvie t-rex would logically be able to mid difficulty an adult dilo, and the other way around. Or at least, IRL. They are (besides venom) completely equivalent in size and strength. But no, dilo prolly wins in straight up 2 bites. Dilo SHOULD win, they just spent like 2, 3 hours of their life for this, venom and speed and agility are better too, but chances are it'll be a 2 shot or something, when 4 or 5 would be best. There is no difficulty in hunting a fresh juvie of ANY species as an anything sub-adult, no risk for even the slightest non-lethal damage (except dilos their sub adults have literally one third of their adult max hp). As for creature-creature balancing, no current progress involved, sometimes it feels like they tested around for ten minutes with god mode on and decided to implement them. Dilo and herrera for the christmas update I can understand to an extent, but still. Slow updates - For most of evrima they've focused on abilities, not dinos. This is perfectly ok. This is the reason legacy was removed, to make a better game in the long run. I enjoy this, I love this, this is good. But, 4 years, 7 abilities, and what sixteen creatures later? People say it feels like mojang (minecraft) works every second consecutive wednesday for 30 minutes (and they have over a hundred devs), but this is a whole new level of sheer IFFYNESS. If there's not enough devs for monthly updates, get more devs and/or increase working hours. Simple as. If there's not enough money for that, or if there'd be protests, then get a 'the isle' patreon account! With bonuses like a tag in game and in discord, and if you're really money grubby and uncreative then just a straight in-game damage bonus would do, but that'd be cringe tbh. Big promises - Right now, we have 3 human types for promises and their various sub-versions, each of which has to be coded like a separate species. A bit like ava and dibble, you really just need a new colour and a plain model decrease, but still. These being; tribal, mercenary, and mutant. A roster of 60 dinos, including aquatics and flyers and more special abilities than we have dinos right now. 6+ biomes, each more unique than the dino ability mixes could possibly be. AI creatures, advanced weather, etc. I love all of these, but big dreams are for people with lives ahead of them, it's better to slowly expand the roster. Can't change it now, hindsight is 2024, but still. Wrong order of changes - three examples here. Stego was added in way too early, because big creatures with hollywood names are better for publicity and more publicity is more money. Not too bad, but maybe going for smaller big-name things, like styraco would have been better. I think, (hindsight is december 2024 tho) Rex and trike will be in too early. For preem balancing, we need more mid tiers and more herbis and preferably (thought not necessary) another apex carni and a few more large and apex herbis when rex is added, so that it's not a straight up win-every-battle situation. Tho, I personally adore how they made it community only. Actual +15 opinion boost. Anyway, far more importantly than rex, the growth times. 3 hours + good diet for teno, a small mid-tier HERBIVORE. And a hadro too. PLUS, 1 hour for troll small small-tier creatures like troodon. It's. . . Meh. Not a good thing. When there's things to do as juvi, EG collect specific foods and form groups for growth time bonuses. Or, pure uniqueties like scratching trees for very small perm and medium temp damage increases, with a cooldown. Resting at night to get bonuses during day. Peeing on trees for minute perm speed, maybe maxing out at 10%. All of these little things add up to a lively game where you are constantly doing _something_ and bored very little, and people could easily be made to want to do these things by making them increase natural growth speed for a while and be required for elderhood, plus little bonuses like sharpen claws are something people will do all by themselves. But NOOOO(joking around here), they can't borrow ideas from other games, that'd be CRINGEEEEEEE, even though pot devs are the most chill people in existence who don't even care. Too many words I can't type here, I'd reach the word limit 😅 Finally, the biggest problem that causes people to break controllers and start mixpacking to always win is - Lag. Oh god the lag. It's not even that bad a lot of the time, really, but it's at the point where you know if you look in one direction and it suddenly quarters (that's right, quarters) then you know there's people over there. Not only does it affect balancing and decision-making incidentally, it also directly affects people by most fights being ended by an attack that didn't hit the target on both peoples' screens. I'll let that one soak for the day. Well, no. Two more things. Global chat being gone. Sorry to compare two mostly different games, but in path, if you meet someone you either ask for a battle, ignore each other, or just chill for a bit, collect flowers together. In the isle, if you see someone that isn't your exact species, one of you won't make it to sunset, hungry or not. The threat of backstabbing, or at least how big it looks, is multiplied by not being able to chat, that's basic human thought process, along with the need to socialise, which is what global and group chat provides. Some herbis do this sorta thing, or at least avoid each other too. Stego can one shot everything except teno, trike will be the same. Pachies are nearly always not, ahem, mentally ok. Tenos are chill but if they turn your back to you every neuron in your skull soul and you-know-what activates through instinct no human had ten years ago, just demanding you RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY. And finally finally, you could also fix the biggest symptom (which will probably exist afterwards in smaller portions, or just never go away) being mixpacking. The idea of debuffing is heavily flawed, unless you only (slowly) debuff the faster creature. That way, it can't troll other things by running circles around them, and if something tries to mixpack debuff it, it only gets debuffed slowly and can simply flee. For situations like carno and galli, who can chase each other and either one win the race depending on juking (zigzagging) skill since carno has charge, maybe decrease the difference between them (it's about time carno had a small base speed buff anyway, though decreasing galli and in exchange +0.5 percent group call speed would be better) and them only affect carno, since it's stronger. Probably some other situations, like stego keeping a just far enough distance from deino (bad example, but still) that would need specific fixes, but that's getting a bit too deep into the sauce, mister krabs

Warning....this is a long one... To be fair you are absolutely correct about the Devs and their effect on the community. However, the gameplay loop also contributes to community behavior. Path is Toxic, Yes. But not nearly even close to being as toxic as The Isle. Not even in the same ballpark. This is caused by the gameplay loop. Path's growth gameplay loop mechanically consists of: Explore, Quest, Eat, Drink, repeat. The Isle's gameplay loop mechanically is: Eat, Drink, Hide, repeat. Then at Adult it becomes, Hunt, Kill, Eat, Drink, Hide. These seem similar until you look into "How" these loops are achieved. Where these games differ is that Path's Questing (while very unpopular due to it being Bare-Bones and extremely repetitive) actively encourages Cooperation. It promotes players playing together to achieve a tangible goal. (Growing is faster in groups, and grouping in path is easy and mostly unrestrictive.) At first the goal is simply growth. But then it becomes unlocking abilities and skins/cosmetics. The closest thing to this the Isle has, is nesting. (Which is more of a liability/strain than group activity.) Questing however, creates team building and ultimately promotes conversation/bonding throughout the grow cycle. In The Isle, players have to hide and wait. This can promote conversation but combat isn't an option for the bulk of the growth cycle in the Isle, so team building is relatively limited. [The Survival Loop] When it comes to Survival: ie: eating and drinking; Path also takes a different path. Choosing to be more MMO in nature, Path restricts player grouping by diet, not species and in many ways rewards players for playing their favorite dinosaur with their friends rather than punish/penalize them for being different. On the surface level, this just makes people happier out the gate. (IE: You can be your raptor. I'mma be my Rex.) On a mechanical level this adds a fun dynamic to co-op gameplay as players fall into different roles in exploration, hunting, and combat. Flyers, Aquatics, and small species scout/support, the medium to large species handle business. The Isle in this regard, limits players to species. So it's "Be the same or GTFO." The Isle to its defense, aims for realism. (However, in nature there are symbiotic relationship between some species, so there is away to do it albeit very limitedly. The game however, chooses not to.) [Death] In The Isle death is final. You die and completely start over. It's a double edged sword as... Death in the Isle is meaningful and impactful. While Death is PoT is merely irritating and annoying. However, PoT's take is ultimately less toxic because the penalty isn't harsh. Players lose growth and 25% of their marks. That's it. It's annoying but...and this is to the Dev team's credit, it accounts for player toxicity. The devs are completely aware that players are NOT going to fight fair. From attacking Juvenile characters, to "Mixpacking", to fighting/attacking just 1 player as a team. (It's rarely ever a 1v1.) The painful truth is.... In PoT, you can lose a 2v1, 4v1, hell 10v1 and then go about your day. Yeah, you're pissed off but you get over it. In The Isle, you lose a 2v1, 4v1, etc; and your day is ruined. Period. Time played all wasted, gone, for naught. Now you have to wait/hide for another couple hours to begin truly playing the game. (Addendum: This is where PoT's Questing also shines. It gives Juvies something to do. A goal to achieve and keeps the player active.) Ultimately the gameplay loop these create foster positivity or negatively. In Path, you wanna work together to grow, then stay together to survive. But if you die...you die. Dust yourselves off and try again. In The Isle, it's just a hardcore survival of the fittest. If you die, start over from scratch. This is enraging to many people. I've lost count of how many times folks have said: "I just reached adult!", "I just spent hours growing!" The brutal truth is that this creates a different mentality in players. With PoT players being more willing to give things a shot, joke around, and eventually brush their last death off. While Isle players are more enraged/incensed, not trusting of others (more so than path players have distrust), not take risks, and ultimately only attempt combat if they feel it's an easy victory/risk free (at great cost to other players). This ultimately leads to megapacks who keep the bulk of the server on the run or set to juvie. It's a vicious cycle. Edit: Clarified some statements after having my morning coffee. 🧐

Evrima worked before, albeit very poorly, so I know they are capable of it. They just dont want people to play their game I suppose, so why try shrug

It's quite funny actually. The lead dev, "Matt," for PoT is actually also known as "deathlyrage" or just "deathly." He was the other lead dev of The Isle right next to Dondi way back when it first came out, and he was just as - if not even more so, if you can believe it - toxic, rude, condescending, and just plain nasty as Dondi. I'd frequently watch his development livestreams where he would code for The Isle and the way he spoke to people was horrible. It's pretty incredible that so many people now don't even know he was such an integral part of The Isle and only see him as PoT's main dev. He did a good job of really erasing his past behavior and just general identity. Jiggy (PoT dev) was also a big part of The Isle's dev team, but she has always seemed relatively kind.

Deathly was actually the one guy who helped The Isle going in the right direction when Dondi wanted to fucked up things. For exemples it's thanks to Deathly that we had mods on the The game back then. Deathly leaved the isle because of the horrible climat and relation at work that was weighting on him, and he had enough of Dondi sabotaging their game and imposing his (bad, toxic) vision on The Isle. That's why PoT is a better place than The Isle, because the only guy who where pushing The Isle up is now doing his own game that he's pushing up. And The Isle is stuck with Dondi the psycopath.

Very good video. I had my experience myself with the game and the devs. I played for a very long time the isle. Legacy was good. The maps where big and beautiful. The dinosaurs looked great and it had a simple gaming mechanic. Get food, drink and stay alife. But over the time I saw more and more things I didn't liked. The Devs: From the very beginning I saw especially Dondi like he really is. A narcissistic edgelord. I don't know if the description is still there but he had on twitch a description like "only because you bought my game, it doesn't mean we are friends", he's right but I thought to myself, is it necessary to be like this to the own community? Over the time more and more drama came just a reminder the "anky is a bad dinosaur" discussion. People where banned just to quote this "meme". The game: Legacy is simple, but good. The bigger problem came with evrima. At the beginning there was almost nothing to do. Only the tenonto and raptor was viable. 80% of the map was empty and the game was most of the time a walking simulator. If you die, you loose all your progress. I liked this at the beginning. But because some people just kill just 4 fun it felt more and more like a waste of time. Maybe it has something to do with my age, why im thinking different nowadays. New mechanics came, nest, diet and it felt more and more like it's more punishing. It was this time i switched to Path of Titans. And oh boy, i dont regret it for a minute. The map had more different bioms, dinosaurs looked beautiful and every dinosaur have his own combination of abilities. Multiple beautiful skins, housing. And you can see in a short amount of time more progress in the game, the devs do a very good job. Not like dondi, it takes for ever for new stuff, the community will be ignored and new stuff is introduced no one asked for, now he wants to introduce first person for the "immersion". In the isle it feels with ever update like "2 steps forward, 3 steps backwards" As I said, I played this game for a long time, but now, it's not even installed on my PC. Now I play PoT and in my opinion, it's by far better.

I've never gotten over the whole ParadymShift thing. The whole underaged girls thing. The whole grooming thing. The way Dondi flipped the conversation to try to harass the two girls and get his toxic community to BULLY THE TWO GIRLS WHO CAME FORWARD INTO SILENCE. They were getting fucking doxxed and he encouraged it. It is hard to let go. As a woman. It was horrible. Every single time I hear Dondi's voice I think of those two girls.

This is a tough topic to tackle. Pretty much hitting your head against a brick wall with this one. Its not that people don't grasp toxicity like you explain in the video but rather the choice and disregard for other people. As, well as the anonymity acting as a wall for people to hide behind without much care. There is also a difference in what is perceived to be toxic. We have all ages which plays a role in toxic but that doesn't COMPLETELY define if a player is toxic but could be culprit. Eventually, it will click to be not be toxic or it doesn't. There is also a gratification that someone might get from being toxic. "Haha I'm making them upset." Ive put many gamer hours in competitive games from CSGO, League of legends, BAR and many others. I enjoy the grind for skill in competitive games. Toxicity is in all these games and without fail there is always toxic people. Toxicity should be viewed at an online presence in general. Not just games or community's but as humanity. This is everywhere. Discord, Facebook, snap chat, video games, KZbin drama, Twitter(yes Twitter) and everywhere else. !!! It takes a lot of emotional maturity to not retaliate toxic behavior and even more so to properly interact with it. Best to just ignore it in general until that can be done. !!! In the Isle I ahve not saw much toxic behavior. At least at the level of other games I have played. yet I agree it is still there. Don't regard what I have said when I say this but saying "L" is toxic in my perception. Mostly in a child like way. Its kind of cringy and on the lower end of toxicity. But calling someone more derogatory names is also toxic and have found that in game as well. The Isle is kind of nice the regard of toxicity compared to other games because it gives people a chance to express their "Moral codes" This could include killing baby dinos or being a canni and so on. Its refreshing to meet a person that takes care of you as a baby dino. Gives you more faith into who people are behind the screen. All this applies to interacting with Dev's, or discord in general. Maintaining professionalism and also professional criticism as a Dev and player. But I don't think making a video on this helps much would love to see it. But people are people. Could write a lot more but will leave it here and sorry for typos I hate writing. BTW nice job with your videos love the explanations always reasonable keep it up!

I remember in legacy that I found a small server that was surprisingly very kind. Was a very rule oriented server, but I didn't mind that. Mods were active and listened to people when they needed help, and people who caused issues were dealt with very quickly. The atmosphere was fun, lighthearted, enjoyable, and instead of getting cussed out and threatened for hunting someone there would often be an exchange of ggs instead. I was coming right off the negativity oil slick that was the Isla Nycta server or whatever its called, so it was so refreshing to finally meet some level headed isle players. Unfortunately, I left that server for a while and came back to it basically being dead bc of evrima, and I haven't been able to find other players like the ones in that server since. I found a similar server on PoT though, very kind people and mods, so I've basically abandoned the Isle. I hope that Isle server can build up its numbers again, because there really isn't any other like it.

At this point I just think the Isle devs are trying to kill the game but can't just unplug the servers, so they want people to leave so they can say something like "Yeah, we did our best, we are incredible, and you guys are just ungrateful, so we are closing the game for lack of support", or something around those lines, while the community try to burn themselves and the devs alltogether. Because the devs fostered such a niche of a bad community, turning a blind eye for passive agressive, and "exposing" banning and making fun of people who were actually concerned about the game and being polite (not always of course), but just the fact it happened more than a few times, it is already wrong.

The game has been crawling through development. The fact that evrima even exists is a miracle. People are tired of waiting for the game to get good. Coupled with frustrating mechanics, bugs, balance issues, desync, condescending devs, and punishing gameplay, it's no surprise players are toxic. They are fed up dealing with the game, but there is no better alternative to compete with the isle. So we're all kinda stuck here until the game improves. Pot is doing it's own thing, it doesn't really compete with the isle.

When talking about community behaviors, the most important aspect to consider is incentives. What kind of behavior is encouraged in this community, what kind of behavior is discouraged, what kind of behavior gets you kicked out, what kind of behavior is rewarded. You laid out the scene pretty perfectly without ever using the word itself. The Isle devs foster such a toxic community with their own behavior it's no surprise how things are there. Random side note but I really wish you had a deeper understanding of Beasts of Bermuda, its mechanics and community. It's a very different experience and has a lot of good and a lot of bad, things both Isle and PoT could learn from if they wished to. I think your commentary could benefit from having that angle and in general it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. There's a lot to analyze in it. To be fair it is a way bigger time investment than either of its competitors and no amount of current gameplay can give you an idea of what the majority of players have lived through (when community servers still focused on survival instead of auto revives and constant growth events), but it could be interesting regardless.

I think the very structure of the game just creates an innate cesspool of toxicity. It's 1 life, all-or-nothing gameplay where you lose 5 hours of progress if you die. It's rage-bait; the game itself is built on rage-bait, with people who enjoy rage-bait, who enjoy rage-baiting others. It only makes sense that the community it attracts is full of people who like to taunt others for rage-quitting and not being able to handle the gameplay when they criticize anything about the game, and it's just a self-fueling cycle of people who like to make others mad and can act superior when it works You don't get this out of POT because you lose less when you die so there's fundamentally less frustration floating around the community, and people taunting others for dying doesn't have nearly as much weight to it when you can get back what you lost in 30 minutes (as opposed to HOURS). Isle is just built off the idea of frustrating its community and the community loves to frustrate each other, and they can accuse anyone who points this out as being fussy babies who can't handle a big kids game

the primary issue, if it starts from the top (like developers) means the only way to get them to change their own toxicity, is to get rid of the problem at its source; a sadistic individual put in charge of a project, that feeds off of players masochism, means changes will never happen. Yes, the community can change itself for the better, but if the developers actively encourage that toxicity, you'll keep backpeddling into that community being toxic. I use to play The Isle a lot, but as a juvi game developer myself, I couldn't stomach how the isle developers treated b0th its game and its community, so I'm done with it until drastic changes happen in their own development team. Without naming names, getting rid of a certain developer in that team would cut a significant amount of the toxicity out of it. The evidence? It worked with Primal Carnage.

I think regardless of game it is important to try and be understanding and not to attack someone just because they are "thinking" of doing some changes. If a person feels like they do not like a change then state it clearly without hate and toxicity. To just say "I do not agree" or "I do not like the changes" is enough. After that one can move on with more progressive thoughtpatterns such as "This is what I think is good with the game and something I want to see more of". Combining praise and goodwill with wants and suggestions usually work better than telling a developer/creator "This, this and this is bad and I hate it. Take it away NOW!". I´m just trying to offer some food for thought and I hope this will create rings on the water so more people, who like myself really love The Isle, will work towards making this a good and wholesome community where we can all work towards making The Isle into an amazing game for dinosaur enthusiasts :D

I for one don't think the conflict in the survival game is toxic. I find the gritty struggle for survival all the more rewarding when i hit adulthood. Yes you might have adult dinos killing fresh spawns but in the grand scheme of things i think the spawn system spreads things out nicely to mitigate it slightly. In terms of cooperation you meet other players all the time that are friendly and buddy up with you as a pack or herd. Just yesterday i was on deaths door as a hera and another hera turned up, i explained that i was out of stam from sprinting to the water and couldnt fish but i was gonna die of starvation. He got me fish until i was in the clear. Ive also gifted fish to pteras as a deino because i saw them struggling to fish. In terms of the devs and the toxic community, i think theres an echo chamber happening here, most players arent even aware of the discord or what happens and simply log into steam and play. Its easy to get invested in a small bubble community and think its representative of everyone. There are also sub communities in unnoficial servers with their own discords etc.

The Isle game is a survival game while POT is not. Therefore, to perceive aggressive behavior in a game where you have to constantly kill in order to survive as toxic behavior is the stupidest thing you can imagine. Of course, you can have a nice chat with someone and go in different directions, but after that you will die because you let go of your victim in order to survive. Survival in The Isle is the most difficult of these games and you need to spend about two or more hours to raise an adult. Now imagine that after spending two hours you have lost your dinosaur and you need to go through this difficult path of becoming an adult dinosaur again.

The isle is an extreme hard core game. The community isnt that different from the DayZ community. This was a natural evolution of the community. Path of Titans is basically the dinosaur game genre version of Rust, and the isle is the dinosaur game genre version of DayZ. If you create an environment of kill or be killed, that creates a haven for toxic people. Most people will keep their toxicity isolated to in game, but some will feel the need to bring the hard core survival mindset into the real world, which makes the community look bad. I love this game, but the recent proposed camera changes really made this problem rear its ugly head. I hope the devs figure out a way to make the community chill out that doesn't mean instantly banning anyone who even BEGINS to show toxic traits

my personal toxicity rankings for the big 3 are as follows; The Isle> Beasts of Bermuda> Path of Titans. I've played all of them a good amount and I agree that all of their communities are toxic, though to varying degrees (also depending on where you look). The Isle has a lot of juvikillers, teabaggers, mixpackers, KOS'ers, admins with god complexes, and groupkillers/backstabbers with the same excuse that 'it's a survival game', or 'survival of the fittest', which has really made me not want to play over the years. I enjoyed Legacy more than Evrima, but even then there were rarely kind people. Maybe I've just had bad experiences on BoB servers, but I've seen plenty of ragebaiting N*zis in chat, been hunted down for no reason, and gotten the general 'L' and 'ez' bs, and since I was pretty new at the time it's made me want to play it a lot less without friends. Path of Titans is what I play the most nowadays. The official servers are absolutely disgusting sometimes. If you're unlucky, you got into one with a bunch of large KOS'er groups that start shittalking eachother during disputes, or even ones that come after you. Lots of babykillers, trophy hunters, revenge killers, and people that just can't accept that they suck at the game and need to make up for that with the firepower of 10 apexes. But that's really only on officials and no-rule servers. It's pretty easy to avoid, even on officials as the guy above me said. Just play extremely carefully and don't quest around other people, and especially don't go to hotspots unless you're asking for a good (or unfair) fight. And don't retaliate to toxicity with more toxicity. Keep your calm and accept whatever happens with the thought in mind that it's just a game and anyone who needs to play like this to get fulfillment is honestly a bit pathetic. I also play on plenty of community servers that have mostly nice communities, so not everywhere is horrible. I've had the most positive experiences on PoT by far. Ultimately, every one of these games has bad apples, some a lot more than others, and all you can really do is try to make the most of it if you enjoy the game nonetheless. And be the change you want to see. :)

If you think the Isle community is toxic, you should check ARKs community. Coming to the isle, after spending thousands of hours in ark, the isle community seems quite mild actually.

for beast of bermuda, it does KIND OF gives a separate gameplay than the two, with chill communities being able to edit the server as they, and with PoT theyre introducing new game modes ect. The Isle? glorified realism failure

I get it "Pot good, Isle bad" yeah except POT just isn't a hardcore dino survival game it's a dino brawler and thus will never be a replacement for the Isle. The issue is that the isle isn't a replacement for itself at this point it's trash and their simple isn't a good dino survival game out there atm.

From the little I gathered its like a little cult of Dondi, and people playing in a dweebish manner. Hacking, excessive mixpacking, or mixpacking preventing carnis from doing any hunting at all, beyond AIs. Why play a realistic dinosaur sim, if you're just gonna play it like a battle royale or VR chat. Seems to be few middle grounds unless you're on servers with an excessive amount of rules. Thats gonna happen with these games, but the social media side of things is ludicrous.

The really short version is; Garbage game + garbage devs = garbage community. I've been waiting and waiting for them to at least fix the garbage game part of the equation but the devs continue to fail on that front. How many decades will it take them? At this point I've given up on them ever actually making a good game, as is the game is pretty awful unless you're hanging out with friends, so it's basically a chatroom wearing the skin of a dinosaur game.

This issue won't change any bit as long as dondi stays in charge. So the isle is doomed. So many times you can see players in game talking about it too.

I tried giving constructive criticism for this game in their Discord... BAD IDEA. I got told I have skill issues, that I'm dumb and that the game is perfect like it is. All I said was that I wish I could invite my boyfriend into a party right away (like In BoB and PoT) instead of spending 2-3 hours dying and respawning while trying to find each other. We don't have 2-3 hours to waste finding each other like this, we come home from work and we just wanna game... it's so fking stupid. The toxic part of the community and the devs are straight up holding this game back.
