Well done with this AJ. United need at least two midfielders and I agree with you that he would be good for us. The cost once we come in for him though would put the Sporting Director off for sure, keeping in mind that we need to recruit for the defence, midfield and attack. Another to consider is Andre who plays for Flumuninense. If we could nail both....

I thought Kone from Borussia Mönchengladbach was the cheaper and more technically gifted version of Onana. Yet for some reason his name got dropped by English teams last summer

My biggest question is whether A.Onana has enough creativity in him to become our 'defense unlocking' midfielder. Mainoo still hasn't shown his passing potential on the pitch yet, well, because he is only 18. I'd prefer a world class B2B to play alongside him, someone like, ironically, a hardworking Paul Pogba. Of course, we could play A. Onana with two 8s, then that's what ETH always has been trying to implement.

@@LitoYTB He certainly has some passing quality in him but he needs to demonstrate that he can make those lethal attack switching passes from the back to the front consistently. Also he needs to make more long shots from out of the box to be a real threat, like what Rodri does.

If we don't get Onana, Andre Trindade and João Neves would make a midfield trio with Mainoo the best long term combo. Neves would be a long term replacement for Bruno but with also the ability to drop deep and press and tackle. With these 3 , we would have a hardworking technically gifted core of the team which can adapt to multiple situations on and off the ball.

The fact that we could have signed space eaters like jude,rice,nunes and end up in signing none tells everything about squad building and recruitment. 1.Onana should be priority in summer 2.We have doubts if he can be future 6 similar to rice so we should also sign cdm(kamara/weiffer) 3.If casemero leaves saudi and amrabat doesnt sign permanant then onana+kamara/weiffer should be targeted with net spend of around 50-60m... case(40-50m)>onana(65)+weiffer(35-40m)

As much as im for this player , they need to buy him next month and not wait until the summer (where he will be worth alot more and will improve between now and then)as arsenal and Barcelona are looking at him, not sure why they didnt just buy him instead of Mount. They could have promoted Isak Hanson as a 8/10 backup mount wasn't necessary .

what do you think about boubacar kamara as a lone 6? i would prefer him more than anyone right now as he allows us to play that two 8s midfield almost instantly. however onana could be an option for that no 8s spot, which i wont be against as he offers us quality in certain areas we lack and more depth. i just think that kamara should be our no1 priority.

AJ nice job on your analysis. I would say NO to Onana because there are better defensive players out there than him. Aleix Garcia has played better as a single pivot for Girona this season. Alternatively, M. Weiffer or Timber from Feyenord or Fofana would all be better options. Can you consider making a video on Aleix Garcia?

I don't think ETH wants a double pivot in the long-term I would rather sign a Zubimendi or Andre as a CDM and play a much higher line in defensive transitions once Martinez is fit again.
