I feel like Helluva Boss is trying to pull a Moral Orel. Both shows start off very over-the-top and crude with exaggerated characters, but said characters are deconstructed later on. However, in Moral Orel's case, you can tell that was always the plan, so when it peels the layers back on it's characters, they still feel like the same characters from the first season since they still gave us hints that there was something more going on. But in Helluva Boss's case, it feels like the show was intended as an episodic comedy, but suddenly switched gears.

i think the problem is when helluva boss was made hazbin was still you know supposed to be the main thing so they thought let's make a show that's an episodic comedy about demons murdering people but when hazbin got sidelined for helluva they thought well if hazbin can't be the serialized show let's make helluva boss into that they quickly made helluva boss into a serialized dramatic show with some jokes but the issue was they did it so fast people couldn't get used to the change it wasn't changing through a span of episodes and that was the problem and another issue was that helluva boss introduced most of it's villains or main story lines too late our first real "villain" debuted in ep 5 and it was striker and we got one scene that was like oh yeah btw stella was the one that made striker kill stolas even though striker says he hates royals and by the time we actually got to the whole stolas and blitz might like each other story line it debuted in the season finale and so we just get hit with these villains and storylines that weren't even hinted at in the first few episodes and had to be established in 1 episode now thank you for coming to my ted talk

I've been trying to put my finger on why i enjoyed the first episodes and fell out of love with the show afterwards- and you've perfectly summed it up.

Honestly, I do agree. It also doesn't help that Viv, so far, has been having a track record of her show plots going off the deep end relatively quickly. For Hazbin, it's slightly understandable as she only had been granted 8 episodes for season 1 and probably for other seasons as well, so she probably felt more pressured to get the whole story out, however Helluva... Yeah, it went off pitch way too quickly. There is nothing wrong with expanding a story but you feel cheated out of when you're pitched one thing but then ultimately given another.

Issue with Hazbin being she should've reformatted the show around her limited amount of episodes and not introduce a new character in almost every episode and expect you to care about them.

The Amazing Digital Circus, in contrast, is how to do a pilot episode right and how to follow it up in a way that doesn't betray the premise sold...
@mauriceisaac364631 минут бұрын
Frankly, the show has yet to really do anything with the whole “circus” premise since every episode past the first one has had them doing things outside the circus.
@capt.artemislivius760111 минут бұрын
@mauriceisaac3646 Actually, the term "Circus" applies to more than just a bigtop with a show, did you know?

@@capt.artemislivius7601 That’s still clearly the theme they were going with.

@RandomGameCritic5 сағат бұрын
I debated including that one. It technically counts, but I don't really feel like it should.
@TeamFriendship86004 сағат бұрын
@RandomGameCritic Yeah, in the episodes that typically center around the assassinations, they typically start with I.M.P meeting a client and being assigned to a victim, whereas the catalyst of Spring Broken is essentially a bet between Blitzo and Verosika, with the assignments being more of an excuse. Technically it counts, but it doesn't quite abide by the typically plot structure of a job episode.

Tbh I made the decision to drop this show. As it is clearly catering to an audience I’m not a part of. The realization that Helluva boss became a completely different show was the mid season special. While it was a good episode that’s when I know I am watching a show different what I came here for. So seeing this show becoming a romcom made me lost interest quicky And judging from the interviews from Brandon and Vivzie. It looks like that Stolitz will be the end all be all of the show.

This guy makes fair points that I almost completely agree with. It would make sense for these comments to be talking about his criticism, but they are almost all comparing it to their favorite show and saying why helluva is horrible.

This is the exact strawman he made in the video that "well shows change sometimes" with no actual justification that it's good change or that viewers don't have the right to feel cheated

I wouldn’t say there’s anything wrong with preemptively addressing potential counterpoints. It’s a standard debate tactic, and *as long as it is done in good faith,* (that is to say, as long as you are genuinely trying to accurately represent your opponent’s argument) it doesn’t qualify as a straw man argument. A straw man is necessarily a *misrepresentation* of your opponent’s position intended to make it easier to argue against.

This is my biggest issue. The show is called helluva boss but when was the last helluva time someone did a boss? (See what I did there?) in season 1 there job was worked into at least 7 episodes, with it either being shown or it had something to do with a part of a episode. In season 2 I think only 3ish episodes even use it. Or bring it up to an extent. Hazbin hotel is about a hotel for redemption, helluva boss is about an imp and owl having drama and past issues. Nothing boss related lol.

Honestly I think the main thing that’s turning me off from Helluva Boss is the fact that the show changed so suddenly. It doesn’t feel like the same show anymore. It really lost its charm. Sure, the humor never really changed, but the whole vibe seems dependent on romance, which I personally don’t like. Maybe chalk it up to being Aro/Ace, idk, but still. When shows are completely dependent on romance as the plot, it really doesn’t feel realistic. Like no, Stolitz never would’ve realistically happened, and Blitzø never would’ve changed, especially so suddenly. If the plot stayed relevant to I.M.P, I feel like it would’ve kept its charm. I hate how suddenly it changed, mainly with Sinsmas. It felt way too rushed and quick paced, especially for a slow burn show like this.

If this show was literally just "The office in hell" it would have been the awesomest thing ever. People don't ask for much. Just something funny that makes sense. Helluva Boss is often not funny and often doesn't make sense.
@leonarddement34322 сағат бұрын
Vivianne clearly said Brandon Rodgers is the reason the show is a drama. Stolas was supposed to be the villain, but once she asked him,"should the show be serious and funny or do you want it to be more of a drama?" He literally said a drama filled show. and it's obvious why it's called "Helluva Boss". who is the leader of IMP? Blitzo. the show is his and about him and his loving adventures with him and his crazy group of demons
@briasinterlude1755Сағат бұрын
Viv wrote it as a drama, not Brandon. He was just ok with her taking it in that direction.

@Talonistrying5 сағат бұрын
@Ludi_Chris I don't think this is necessarily "shipping culture," I think it started out that way but now the audience is made up of fans that legitimately love interpersonal drama. It really did change into a new show, and the audience changed with it. Ngl I think the shipping culture stuff was left behind in season one, this is just a romance/drama soap opera now.
