Doctors must try to find out what is causing their 6-year-old patient to go through puberty before it takes too much of a toll on her body.
From House M.D. Season 3 Episode 19 'Act Your Age' - A six-year-old girl is brought in suffering from symptoms more befitting an adult woman, House enjoys leading Wilson a merry dance when he meddles in his friend's love life, and Cameron and Chase consider where their relationship went wrong.
House (2004) Dr House, an ingenious and unsociable physician who flouts hospital rules, clashes with fellow doctors and his assistants as he comes up with controversial hypotheses about his patients' illnesses.

Kinda sounds like what dad told me about when I was sick at just 2 weeks old turns out there was a condition in his family that causes the stomach muscle to clamp shut and refuse to open basically causing me not be able to hold anything down because it wasn't going in stomach at all among other problems, only reason they figured out what was happening was because the same doctor that took care of his family was in the building heard my dad getting frustrated and remembered something happening like that happening with one of my uncles and they were right one quick surgery later and it was fixed

Right? Then she brought up social services at the snap of her fingers. I really don't like doctors like her. They take something like calling social services so lightly and not thinking about the impact and without looking at all other possibilities first which is really what she should be doing as a doctor. She would've literally called social services before even checking whether it was actually the girl's blood or even vaginal blood in the first place like her colleague later suggested🙄

Certain injuries with children, at least when I worked in a hospital, trigger an automatic visit with social service. Normally it’s a friendly “hay, we just need to visit with y’all,” and it’s closed. I’m sure for the parents it’s traumatic, but some unique injuries it seems to be common red flags. One of my girlfriends who has 6 littles and live on multiple acreages have frequent injuries and had to arrange a home visit when the boy snapped his femur. She was more than happy to bring the lady in, show her where he was injured etc…her thoughts were that hopefully it weeds out those who do need services or extra support.

I just want to point out how a lot of women get their lips waxed just like their eyebrows. As esthetician, I’ve seen many women you routinely get their lip, chin, etc. waxed. Some do it just cause they hate the peach fuzz, but most of those women get it from their genetics/ethnicity. Italians, Indians, etc. Sometimes it can be hormonal, but it can’t also just be normal.

I actually got this one before House did! The girl had me stumped, but when I saw the brother acting violently, I figured it out. See, testosterone causes lots of animals to go nuts during mating season, when their levels are higher than usual. Like hares fighting every other hare in the area, or elephants rampaging and destroying entire villages. Humans usually just start doing extremely stupid or dangerous things for attention, but aggression and violence are not out of the question with an overdose.

@rebeccahicks2392

The elephants example is an interesting one. For anyone reading this who doesn't know, male elephants will go through periods known as musth during which their testosterone levels are (on average) about 60 times higher than normal. They become EXTREMELY dangerous during this period, and will just go around killing random animals. Traditionally, domestic elephants get chained to a tree and denied food and water for several days, which causes the condition to pass more rapidly, but in the west, since we consider that cruel, we lock them in a room with no stimulation for a month or longer (which I believe to be far more cruel, but in our culture that's seen as nicer.)
@Sai4651
@Sai4651 9 ай бұрын
The boy had 100x the normal testosterone for his age, hence why he was being so aggressive throughout the episode. Only reason he wasn't experiencing symptoms earlier was because he got into so many fights at school, he would get nose bleeds which would prevent him from getting blood clots. Whereas her sister wasn't getting the blood drained out of her body and that's why she got symptoms before him.

@@theofairy4077 It contains phytoestrogen which is so named because it is similar in shape, and binds to the same receptors due to that shape. Phytoestrogen and estrogen are dissimilar in composition. In addition, there is no study that concludes an effect of phytoestrogen on human beings. The studies that do exist primarily examine their effects on ruminant digestive animals- which process phytoestrogen containing foods multiple times to pull all available nutrition. Conversely, humans are monogastric and simply circulate it, and excrete it in urine. The claims toward soy foods increasing estrogen levels also fail to mention that phytoestrogen can sometimes act as an antagonist to estrogen, because they want people to believe that consuming soy will make you 'womanly'. Beer, apples, carrots, coffee, and spinach also contain phytoestrogen, and yet they escape the same scrutiny that soy products do. I invite you to examine whether that might have anything to do with the baseless conception of the superiority of a Western Diet vs an Eastern Diet.

The main issue with that is edamame, or unprocessed soy. And it's only really in high quantities where you see any effect, and that's high quantities in kids. Sometimes. Generally since it's not the exact same chemical, most bodies can process and ignore it.

I started going into puberty by the time I was five years old. I started growing boobs when I was six, I had my period when I was nine and by the time I was 12 I was already an H cup. Growing up, my family didn’t actually pay much mind to my growing body because the woman in my family have always been early bloomers, but my grandmother had always suspected me to have a hormone problem because a 12 year old should not have boobs the size of trucker wheels ( her exact words). My grandmother also told me that the reason why I have such a big boobies is because of all the corn I eat. I love me some corn, but when I was 15 my mom took me to a doctor and I ended up getting a breast reduction when I was 18. And now as a 25-year-old. I am going to an endocrinologist tomorrow because my general physician tested me that I have a hormone problem. She told me what the name of the hormone was, but I don’t remember what it was but it started with an R. Ironically, I went to the doctors to test me for PCOS, which I have by the way, and now I have to get tested for a hormone problem that I’ve always known that I had. Being a woman is fun😑.

I recently listened to an interview with Patrick Burleigh, about his experience and his father, grandfather and great grandfather who all had the condition. He explained they all acted out in various ways, but the story of the great grandfather is probably the most amazing (enlisting for WWI at aged 11, he was nearly 6ft with a full beard). Don't want to spoil it, well worth a read of his story, or a listen via one of the many interviews he's done about it. I found the story via the audio interview at BBC Outlook, titled 'I went through puberty at 2 years old'.

I googled it & it's considered precocious puberty before 8 years of age in girls and 9 years in boys. The main causes of precocious puberty may be caused by tumors or growths on the ovaries, adrenal glands, pituitary gland, or brain. Other causes may include central nervous system problems, family history of the disease, or certain rare genetic syndromes. Nowadays there's more food control, normally food would be the last issue. I think 9 for a girl can be perfectly fine if it's in the family history.
