I saw this movie in theaters when it came out & i also rented the DVD from Netflix before it became a streaming service. Robert Townsend said he received criticism for this movie because people asked him why did he choose to do a silly movie after The Five Heartbeats. He said he wanted to show his versatility. Here comes the fun fact: Roy Fegan’s son Roshon Fegan is an actor as well. He was on the Disney show Shake It Up, Greenleaf & The Bobby Debarge story. Next week’s review is Woo. 0:05

Im from India, I watched this movie as a kid on tv. My take on why this movie is hardly talked about is bcos of the "exposure" factor....specifically with the lead Robert Townsend(no disrespect to Mr.Townseend intended, he deserves his flowers) .He was just not someone that was recognised globally. I use the word exposure pertaining to 'word of mouth' not official marketing done by the studio or movie distributers. Even as a kid, even though I appreciated this movie as a Indian, I wasn't blown away by it bcos I had never seen Robert Townsend in anything that I could remember & I knew who James Earl jones was when I watched it then & even recognised many other actors faces in the movie even though I didn't know their names back then but not Robert....& I think this had a factor with it's unpopularity.A weird example I can give you is that I remember the black superhero movie "Blankman" more than I remember this movie & I believe it's bcos of the casting cos even though the movie did not have Global "black superstar actors" it still had "black star actors' whose "faces" were recognised globally & kept getting recognised further with their future body of work which kept them or made them more relevant on the global entertainment sphere. Love from India, I enjoyed the video...bought back good memories of watching movies on cable tv as a kid. Take care
