I am a catholic, but somehow i questioned why people on their knees on Mary's statue and touch it with fullest respect? Think with clear mind and heart, if it is really a miracle, what is the message behind this miracle? I do believe that Mother Mary is very sad to see us who are sinfull and away from God. She expects us to repent. And why do the people start worshipping the statue (by kneel upon the statue)? Does not the ten commandments says that we should not worship anything but God himself? I might be wrong, but as a catholic i realized there something must have gone wrong here. I respect Mother Mary, but i.think we should not pray to her nor showing excessive respect which may lead us to idolatery. I hope catholic church will correct this kind of practice.

Sorry Vanessa, You are simply ignorant, protestant or anti Catholics. Yes, God has forbidden the use of images and statues in worship but he did not forbid the religious use of statues and images. Read what the Bible say and don't have the herd mentality. God gave Solomon the plan to the altar of incense to be made with 2 statues of Cherubim in gold and a golden chariot of the cherubim to cover the ark of the covenant (Ex 25:18-20) Also, in the Book of (Num 21:8-9) God told Moses to make a statue of a fiery serpent and set it on a pole and everyone who was bitten by a serpent, when he see it shall live. Moses made the bronze serpent and set it on a pole - it is only when the people started to worship the bronze serpent as a snake-god, king Hezekiah destroyed it (2kgs 18:4) Therefore, understand what you read. Statues can be used ritually not just as a religious decorations. You are confused or refused to understand the difference between legitimate veneration of a sacred image or statue with the sin of idolatry. We Catholics do not worship the statue of Virgin Mary or Jesus. We worship the Lord himself and His beloved mother, our mother Mary, and the statues are there only as a symbol and visually remembering them. Keep praying for enlightenment.
