FYI regarding the service dog thing, some service dogs have been trained in that as a task but it's largely frowned upon in the community...specifically for this reason. Finding a stranger is basically handing someone a free, well trained, $20,000 dog. There is the more ethical and safe task of finding a specific person you were shopping with, although this is also considered a fairly risky task - but far less dangerous. This was a huge controversy in the service dog community. The task sounds like a good idea in a fantasy world but, even on paper it's fairly...stupid. Like, sure, in an emergency maybe the dog will find someone who will help, but the reality is, if someone doesn't steal the far more valuable dog, they could rob or hurt you.

I honestly think jayus had good intentions but the whole thing just goes to show that not everyone can be an internet creator. Taking criticism and ignoring trolls is HARD. You have to either be as chill as charlie or have massive balls. I can only assume she was sheltered to the internet before the whole tiktok thing because she apparently has never heard "do not feed the trolls!" I know a lot of sheltered people who grew up playing video games and saying slurs and they genuinely feel horrible about it because they didn't know what it meant, having been raised by the toxic video gaming community. Learning from your mistakes however is only the FIRST step. If youre in the public eye AT ALL you can't show signs of anger and you DO have to have a grasp on your sanity. You cant just make videos when you're upset. It's internet 101! Learn when to put down the phone. I think people would feel sorry for her if it wasnt 2022. I think one of the resons why jayus's apologies were so ineffective (at least to me) is because They're so theatrical about it, there's no need to scream over a misunderstanding, and there's no need to say more than what needs to be said. also, people who blame shit like that on their ADHD are annoying. Not keeping up with emails IS a valid symptom of ADHD though. Doubly so if the emails are about community outreach toward a community that is relentlessly harassing you. It's not like she's saying, "Oops my ADHD made me do a racism!" She's saying it kept her from doing technical tasks which required attention during a time of personal distress

@@ConverseSC yes, i am not saying it is invalid of them to forget to do a task, i would be a hypocrite if thats what i thought. @@RafProductions3 thats actually very much false. 4% isn't majority, and the whole thing about adhd is that it presents itself in many different ways and therefore cannot be solidly diagnosed until a proper medical professional has done it. besides, to get a diagnosis you have to have shown symptoms before the age of 12 as teenagers are going through a huge brain rewiring and can show symptoms which will dissipate once they reach adulthood and their brain has stopped this process. besides, social media has made adhd symptoms extremely watered down to the point where if you fidget on occasion, you have ADHD. everybody fidgets. fidgeting is not a diagnosis in itself. I personally believe claiming adhd is extremely harmful unless there's an entirely truthful diagnosis and test results to prove so. you can say, I think I have adhd, but saying "I'm pretty sure I have it and I've never used it as an excuse" is pretty shitty. if you did use it as an excuse, what would you say? "I didn't check my emails because I'm pretty sure I have adhd". I get what you're saying and I agree, as someone with diagnosed adhd, using it as an excuse is shitty but what im saying to you is dont say you have adhd unless you've got a diagnosis to back it up, and you can say no because its valid, but remember if everybody says "I think I have adhd so im going to discredit other people with adhd for their issues" then the worlds gonna fall to shit. we have diagnoses for a reason, dont discredit them.

@Jon lol, like I said I'm mostly joking, but you didn't answer the question, which I guess I can take as proof that you don't know the title of the book, and I've just seen a million people say this and it's very tiring because it's a misrepresentation of that book. It's not a book on how to not be racist. In fact, the idea of just not being racist as an end-goal is exactly the kind of attitude that the book is addressing. So one more time, for all the marbles... what is the title of that book? (Hint, because I'm a kind person: It's not "How Not To Be Racist" or even "How To Not Be Racist") (Also, it's only as hostile as the tone you project onto it in your own head, especially if you choose to ignore the portion of the text that actively states that it should be read in a rather jovial/farcical tone)
@ByzantineDarkwraith2 жыл бұрын
@@joshjonson2368 No, the world doesn't run on hate, what are you talking about? The world runs on systems, many of them systems of exploitation and oppression, and unjustified hierarchy. Racial inequality is largely perpetuated by means other than active hate these days (though there is still plenty of racial hatred around), it's perpetuated by society's indifference refusal to correct for past injustice, and it's perpetuated by conscious and unconscious biases (many of even the conscious biases not rising to the level of open hatred) which combine with circumstances to produce outcomes across many systems which disadvantage certain racial groups. I also reject your notion that humans are inherently hateful, because it's bullshit. Irrational hatred against groups for immutable traits is learned, not innate.
