On the topic of both Khabib and Islam defending against Poirier I want to add that Poirier was his most experienced heading into the Islam fight and put it all out there because he knew it was now or never so despite being older I honestly hold that Poirier win very high for Islam especially because he actually boxed with Poirier in multiple rounds to a lot of success

Absolutely think skill-wise Poirier was the best he'd ever been, but I also thought in the moment watching the fight that he looked older and slower on the feet than I'd ever seen him. Age catches up to everyone, as do the wars they put themselves through, and this was the most banged up version of Poirier we've seen fight to date. He is my #1 favorite fighter, but from the moment that fight got announced, I knew he didn't stand a chance.

Wins and Losses don’t matter nearly as much in MMA as they do in other sports. It is far more important who you fight. We’ve seen several fighter who had double digit losses and went on to be champions. The fact of the matter is MMA was created by a group of professional wrestlers in Japan in the 1980s and has much more in common with worked wrestling bouts being the real alternative to them than it does with boxing which is one of the reasons I don’t think losses matter nearly as much. There’s far too many ways to lose, you could legitimately be the greatest boxer in MMA history and still lose a lot due to other factors of the fight. There’s also several examples of fighters who fought nothing but cans for 20 fights and crumbled against real competition like Dave Herman and Chris Tuchscherer. Chris Tuchscherer in particular went 17-0 as a heavyweight which would be impressive except he got KO’d by Gonzaga(11-4)Brendan Schaub(6-1 failed football player) and Mark Hunt(5-7) Mark Hunt legitimately had more losses than wins when he beat Tuchscherer who was 21-3 at that point. Mark Hunts record didn’t matter because he had already fought and beaten world champion level competition and he handled the fight with the padded record easily. All this is just a long way of saying. Win/Loss records don’t matter in MMA.

I don’t believe Islam is the best ever at 155, and whilst resume is very important, we can’t ignore how badly Islam was ducked by the top 10. His win against Oliveira alone showed how great he is, and Volk wins despite the size and short notice of second fight were still very good wins. I think a win against Arman could have very well put his name in the 155 goat conversation. Unfortunately it’s now Moicano next (who is good and I like him) but he is not an elite fighter in my eyes. Based on skill set Khabib, Islam and BJ are the top 3 for me but there are a lot of beasts at 155 past and present.

@@mouthofthesouth99 idk if i would say he was ducked, 155 is just stacked and breaking into the top 10, let alone top 5 is mostly earned through a series of increasing wins. islams might have needed an extra fight or two more than others, but nothing egregious like belal

@ Chandler openly ducked him in my eyes. Although I think Chandler would have a punchers chance (he does against anyone before his low IQ kicks in). 155 is certainly stacked though.

Y’all really just updated the title for clicks and left the video the same 🤡

Title was just to reflect the opponent change. Point of the video was always about the title defense record.

Add to Khabib's legacy he has lost only a couple of rounds or so as per records which is crazy to even achieve even in the future I think!

Hang on.. I’m Australian.. Islam fighting on American time doesn’t mean they fought early in the morning… Saturday night in America is Sunday afternoon here.. main events are usually about 2pm… I’m confused about that one…

Khabib would’ve still been defending to this day

Islam Makhachev might also become the first person since Eddie Alvarez to lose the LW belt in a fight - Arman becoming the first since McGregor to win the belt from the champion

LETS GO 💰 Changing the title of the video like that is a little dirty.

Charles is my goat. His resume in the ufc is more impressive than khabib He also didn’t miss weight. Controversial weigh in

I 100% disagree a flawless record is relevant. Can crushing and early retirements is the only thing that will come out of that perception. Its about who you fight and how long you're putting away the greatest of the sport. Like if Khabib kept fighting and he went on to a massive skid of like 5 loses in a row, I think it would be silly for anyone that puts him up as their goat to tear him down. He did the thing that made him their goat to them already. EDIT: If anything to me a flawless record should be a detriment to a GOAT discussion. Because it means this fighter never had to overcome the mental of a real loss and come back to achieve even more. That is mental fortitude.
