Didn't Jones reply to that by basically saying if it's not Pereira he'll retire. He's holding the heavyweight title hostage at this point, actively avoiding a fight with the interim champ should get your belt stripped period. Jones has had two heavyweight fights since his rematch with Cormier in 2017 he's just acting like a child by not unifying the belts because he's scared of a real heavyweight. Tom has said on his own YT channel that he has some big news from his meeting after the Jones fight though so we'll see.

The times Jon Jones overshadows cards it has rarely been for good reasons... if ever. His fighting ability is only rivalled by his tendency to fuck up in pretty major ways. Also, one of the best fighters at the time ducking someone who is smaller and... well fairly one dimensional in Chael is just inglorious. I'm a statistician and I think it is likely that flawless algorithm could be constructed to accurately determine who actually wins fights. You could move from 90-95% accuracy.... to greater than 99.5% accuracy. An algorithm could be applied to any past or current fight, the same way that photos are colorized in a standard way.

5:36 doesn’t sound familiar at all. The ufc didn’t make Tom interim then book jones in some random bout. They booked Jon vs the #1 ranked fighter at the time. Tom’s most recent fight at the time of booking was recorded as a loss. Hows that parallel to Colby’s interim title stripped bc he couldn’t make a date bc surgery? Jones stipe held up despite injuries - everything about the fight is reverse. It’s the use of the word random that shows the bias. It’s apples to anvils mate. Closer would be making Shavkat interim bc your boy won’t fight him then stripping him bc he can’t turn around by January after beating Garry then booking him against like Buckley.

The bit that makes me laugh about the TOm/JJ thing is- Just like AMERICAN politics. If you're not for, you're against. that's it, you are on one side or you're on the other. The facts are what they are. There is no side taking. You're either a fan of the sport, and know that the belts need unified, or you're a traveller, a causal presence who sometimes drops in to watch big PPV's and has not actual interest in the sport.
