My 3D school experience is exactly what niko mentioned briefly, of the software flexibility and quickly learning ui. We would model something in maya and zbrush, hop to Marvelous for some cloth, uv unwrap it in houdini, texture it in painter, render it in unreal, edit the render in resolve. in addition to jumping between Unity and Unreal for development. Then my first industry job was 3 months of training, then only living in maya. The ability to jump between UI's and camera controls is vital.

The best way to get that channel to 10M in my opinion would be to do a Crew react to their own VFX episode of your old videos, could be Sam Niko and Wren. 2nd best would be to start your own tik tok, love or hate it, it blows things up.

on the idea that youtube might push content that uses their newly added features. i have 100% had this theory myself for a while now. they really push shorst, and i dont doubt that, at least at first they'll give a boost to longer shorts when they turn that on. The thumbnail compare feature too, it's relatively new and I dont always use it because, frankly, i can't be asked to come up with 3 thumbnail concepts for simple videos often times. but the videos where i do use it pretty consistently get more impressions and views. Now, is that because they preform better due to me spending more time and effort into these thumbails? probably at least partly... but it really does feel like KZbin pushes these videos out to a wider audience to in order to gather more data on their new features.
@Sumaleth2 ай бұрын
Re shorts: so I have shorts blocked on KZbin but youtube still sends me notifications to say that the channel 'posted something new'. Those notifications are annoying and I can easily imagine it prompting me to unsubscribe at some point, if I didn't know this was is just a short term burst, especially since I'm also a member on the corridor website and usually watch videos there. Sorry! I don't watch any youtube shorts, as I can't just add them to my playlist to add to the mix. I used to be able to, but they stopped supporting that a while back. 100% of my intake is long form. At least HALF is an hour or longer (at 2x tbf). I have so many creators I want to support, so I try my best to watch what I can. Plus law tube is streams, so those can be anywhere between 1-7 hours a piece, or even more depending on the gavel-to-gavel trials going on (Johnny Depp, Gweneth Paltrow, Darrell Brooks, etc)

You have to keep in mind that a lot of your longtime viewers (like myself) can't stand shorts. During the first year of shorts I unsubscribed to a number of channels because I was suddenly getting bombarded by shorts, which I have no interest in, but I eventually I stopped doing that when there was no escape. My solution when it got so bad there was no escape was to look into extensions that hide them.

46:41 if Wren is trying to get the terminator shot with galium why is he shooting a heat gun at it, rather than heating the small bars of metal to imitate the cell wall. The galium would go through them in seconds, you then throw away the small metal bars or wires you used. Just go below redhot.

Here are my tips in general for learning anything new: 1) Start with something you're passionate about and/or with a project in mind you want to make. 2) When learning something new set small goals at first. Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good and don't let yourself get stuck at 'only' finishing 90% of the goal but move on to keep making progress. 3) As you learn keep increasing the difficulty of goals. You can't become strong if you just keep dead lifting 10 pound weights, no matter how many repetitions you do. Step up the difficulty for your next goal when you feel you have comfortably achieved your current goal. This way you don't stay stuck at a surface level understanding, but force yourself to obtain a deeper mastery of whatever you're trying to learn. 4) When watching tutorials, always apply them. You can't get any muscles by watching fitness content either. You would need to actually go to the gym. So always emulate the tutorials. But also play around and try to see what happens when you change parameters or make other changes. This way your learning becomes less linear. And if you find certain things do not work when you change them, that's also very valuable to know. 5) Stay consistent with each subject. Try to practice at least every other day to keep the knowledge fresh so you don't stagnate and have to redo most things when you take long breaks. 6) Don't drop it after 3 weeks for something else because you haven't been able to achieve what you want yet. When you feel lost and overwhelmed that's probably a sign of how much you've learned already so far. Stick with it a little longer.

I absolutely HATE shorts. The constant stupid notifications for shorts about videos I've already watched, makes me want to turn off all notifications for a channel. Then I miss their uploads, but that becomes more ideal than numerous shorts notifications that I don't care about nor want to watch in the first place. I come for the fully realized and polished videos that I first enjoyed from your channels. Not Vine/TikTok imitations. Why KZbin is pushing this so hard makes no sense, you're not going to steal people away from TikTok with the censorship differences, among other things, between the platforms. KZbin is literally forcing channels to regurgitate videos that already exist and making them suck, or making short form stuff that already has an established place built for exactly that type of content. KZbin needs to just be KZbin.
