Lions have darker mane but each time they lose a fight it stresses them and some mane falls out and they grow it back but its gets lighter. That's why lioness like dark maned lions better. It means they didn't lose as many fights. It could also run in genetics.

Love the vid but some information was incorrect. When male lions reach adult age they get kicked out to build or challenge a different pride for their territory. And females dont do the hunting because as you said "better at it" its mainly because males big manes can be seen far away by prey. That doesnt prevent them from hunting but lioness do it instead because of that.

The fact that the mane can be seen far away by prey is the reason why lionesses are better at hunting. They are better at camouflage, therefore hunting.

Male lions are kicked from the pride when they age by the current dominent male or leave to avoid conflict and reproducing whit their relatives, the mane help in figth too, not just to be pretty, it's a good protectionf from claws and fangs but makes it so male can't handle heat (which is part why they are more lazy as they risk overheating more easily) annnnd oh yeah, hyena share the place of second biggest pred whit lion, they actualy can figth if enough confident hyenas are involves and hyena clan are a reason for old lion to die after they got kicked out Male that takeover a pride may kill the previous male and have great chance to kill (and possibly eat) the cubs of the previous male, but they don't always do it as lioness are less likely to reproduce whit them after. And male lions are freaking cannibals, eating yonger, weaker or sicker lions when they can, after human lion is the first cause of death for lions (the video is still great, i just like to add more than basics informations)

Using their robust spines which grants them with Herakles like leverage to wrestle their prey down to the ground before going for the strangling bite. The lion was the undisputed apex predator of the savannah, along with the Nile crocodile. Stealing food from hyenas most of time instead of the other way around.
