Why Jalen Brunson is the NBA's best underdog

Seeing how far Jalen Brunson has come in his career tells us all we need to know about him as a player. At every stage of his basketball career he has exceeded expectations and in the eyes of most he has overachieved. But even after an all star appearance and being a key part of the Knicks' revival, he is still being doubted by some who think that he's maxed out his potential.

What’s crazy to me about that whole conversation is that the Knicks were in midst of playing very good basketball and the media decided to talk about our “flaws” rather than saying positive things. This exact discussion was never brought up for other small guards like Mitchell and Trae (at the time of making his ECF run)

When you say a team can’t win with a small guard as your 1a guy pretty much disregards the competition. Maybe Iverson and Nash not winning had more to do with going up agnaist prime Kobe and Shaq as well as prime Tim Duncan, Ginobilli and Parker than being small. Stockton lost twice to Jordan and Pippen, don’t think his height mattered. Saying a team can’t win with a short guard who scores at every level and is super efficient is just lazy reporting.

You can’t blame Knicks fans for being wary of every move management makes , they have made bad move after bad move for decades now. As a lifelong Knicks fan since the 90s I stopped watching most Knicks games around 2015 and when sports went woke I stopped watching all together. There was only one thing that got me to start watching games again and that is Jalen Brunson. I’m not only happy for us Knicks fans but I am very happy for Mr Brunson and how he is killing it right now, proving everyone wrong. Most people should have no problem admitting they were wrong about the guy and that he is currently one of the best pg’s in the NBA. When the Knicks are fully healthy I think they can win a championship. I don’t think it will be easy for them with teams like Boston in the way but the potential is there and that thought is the most exciting thing since I was a kid watching Ewing and Starks make it to the playoffs.

Many Luka haters will say it's Luka's fault that JB didn't play like this when he was with Dallas but the truth is they both play the same position and they're both scoring point guards... Haliburton wasn't an All Star when he was a back up to Fox, Maxey wasn't an All Star when he was back up to Ben Simmons, Van Fleet wasn't an All Star when he was a back up to Lowry.. Quickley has better numbers now that he is a starter than when he was Brunson's backup.. At the end of the day it went well for both camps.. Brunson became an All Star and Mavs got Kyrie who is better fit along side Luka compared to Brunson..
