The greek word used for young men. Can include men under 40. Greek has at least on word for children. The linen was fine linen. Of the common uses for such linen are bandages, wrapping of dead bodies, sleeping garments, and expensive clothing. The speaker is picking the definitions that he wants. The fine linen could be compared to silk. Silk can be used in all the same uses. Including expensive clothing. As far as all the disciples being children. They had jobs. Including doctor, and tax collector. Jesus in the upper room. Was celebrating a Jewish major holiday. The group that came and got Jesus was not a big angry crowd. It is pointed out that they came to get him late at night, to avoid people witnessing the event. There people, who dismiss everyone and everything they don't like. Add the fact that his depth within Greek is that of medical specificity, of course the more medical slanted definitions are taken. Gotta admit I enjoy his approach and the tugging at conventional notions, BUT, radical deviations from conventional academia is going to need robust notation and defense. To simply dismiss the body of academia carte blanche based upon fast and loose possible translations is sketchy at best. Example: I can "irrigate" a field AS WELL AS someone's ear. CONTEXT AND WIDER BASE of knowledge is necessary for more accurate interpretation.

(he mostly mentions ancient Greek medical and pharmaceutical texts). All of these examples imply that the correct context for these texts is the in specialized medical language and ritualistic/pharmaceutical nature of the practices described in the biblical narratives. Most of the classical scholars, according Ammon, have an inferior education, and/or experience with translating ancient Greek, especially the technical medical and pharmaceutical terms, which would be necessary to cross reference the source texts...And those who have the ability to translate those pharmaceutical and medical texts aren't interested in, or fear doing so (for preservation of their careers/reputations).

Learning is a journey. I think Dr. Ammon has a lot of knowledge to offer the world, both through his entertaining approach , his knowledge of ancient Greek, and through his mistakes. As humans, when we are presented with unclear data, we have to interpret it through the filter of our minds. That holds true whether the data is a mysterious drug induced vision or words written down on parchment in a dead language. I was very critical of Mr. Ammon initially, but then I went to one of his live ancient Greek lessons ( on his channel) and I have to say that it was really fun. Although I am an English teacher and I study other languages and cultures , I never would have studied ancient Greek had I not been motivated to correct his misinterpretation of the young , bandage clad boy in a cave. That isn't because I wanted to defend the bible as some kind of factual representation of reality. I don't think it is. In fact, if Jesus even existed, I suspect he was a multitude of people, much like Homer probably was. It's because. Ammon missed the opportunity to address the botched circumcision that almost certainly occurred there. That is a far more interesting debate than the one posed by the brain twisting suggestion that it was about medicine wrapped in bandages and placed on incisions...none of which makes sense when you know the context. These practices were only performed by a specific cult where the "priestess" was actually a eunuched boy. And there were only a fringe number of die-hards still doing that, because the Romans made the deforming of male body parts illegal. This extended to circumcision. And it makes total sense that Jesus would have been arrested for doing that. The question is why would he do that, then? He was circumcised, but his disciples claimed that he told them it was no longer necessary. Did the boy ask him to? Was it a set up? I think there is a lot to unpack there.
