The thing I notice about Jett is he always seems to have a grip on the bike with his legs. He has so much control which is why he looks like he is out there on a mild ride. I am betting some of his secret is in his core, leg strength and endurance. Sometime guys are just physically put together to do certain things.

I think it's his balance. Look up a bull rider named jb mauney, winningest bull rider in America. They did a little 15 minute documentary on him and he said he accredited his success to his balance that he trained by standing on a basketball when he was a kid, hour or two a day he said he would do. Everybody talks about jett doing things others can't and a lot of those things are saves when the bike gets sideways, i don't think he can make those saves without incredible balance through the hips.

Hey I'm an old guy looking at all this stuff. I raced in the 80's and was a big follower of the stuff that Bailey was teaching back then. What struck me as really cool about Jett was that you could see how much (in my opinion) that his technique is echoes from the past. He rides like Johnny'O and Bailey. It was all about smooth back then. So I'm happy to see the "new" actually being called next level, and it is. But it's being coached by Johnny O'Mara. It's old school to me. Jett looks like Dave Bailey when he rides, but yeah standing up more.
@RobertKrus
@RobertKrus Жыл бұрын
Standing up isn't new. I've always stood everywhere but the corner's apex. What is different from old school is that we used to go balls out into the turn then brake hard, pivot to make the turn and nail the throttle. That's not the fastest way around a corner. Better to come in at the fastest possible speed that doesn't require slamming on the brakes to make the turn. That's what Jett is so good at. Probem is that if you misjudge the speed at which you can make the turn you'll be on the ground. IMO, that's why Sexton crashes so much. He's good, just not as good as Jett or Eli.

Im an old fart too and still love watching old races with Bailey, O'Mara, Johnson, Ward, Lechein, Glover, and the Hurricaine. I agree that The O'Show and Bailey were silky smooth, and Johnny is Jetts coach, but they had developed most of their style by the time they got to the USA and Johnny although Johnny has been great at tuning their styles . I read an article about the Lawrence brothers and how the amateur racing system here in America is not producing racers like the old days, like the 80's, and Europe is much more like the US used to be whereby kids travel city to city to race all kinds of tracks in different conditions week to week and year round. The Lawrence brothers moved there and hit the road racing 4-5 times a week as kids. Thats the way it used to be in the US. The article went on to say that once a kid shows any promise or starts winning he ends up at a training facility most of the year racing the same basic tracks every day whereby the tracks are prepped and groomed and they are preparing to race mainly Loretta Lynns. They arent travelling city to city racing all sorts of different tracks not near as much as was the case. I think the article made some good and key points although i didnt completely agree that the facilities didnt offer much of anything in comparison, but i think its like what happens in the NFL somewhat. All the college kids, train before the draft just for the combine. The combine is where the NFL coaches and execs are invited to watch most of the countries top players do timed drills and races to judge speed and agility as well as catching drills, weight lifting events to gage strength and so on. A player who may not have the same aptitude for actually playing the game like a true talent can move himself into a higher pick by doing well at the combine. This system has shown its cracks and some of the better organizations dont fall in love with players who have great combines necessarily, like Bill Bellicek and Andy Reid who know gow to find the right players moreso than most.

I am studying all of these styles much more now, after realizing last year how much better Jett was in tune with the physics of his body and bike. And it's making me a better rand faster rider, not simply because of technique, but because of moving towards every movement having to require perfect positioning and power. My rides now are about making zero mistakes, at ever faster speeds. IT's pretty fun at age 67 to be getting this. Thanks for this post, and thanks to the Lawrence brothers, who are both riding well

Jett and his bikes have a mechanical-biological consciousness connection - not yet understood - where he just thinks the next move and the bike obliges. Unlike Stewart, who was ultra fast but had a serious problem with gravity, this young wonder boy just doesn't ever fall and looks like his just at 8/10ths cruising around the track. Just amazing.

Jeff rides with a calm mind! And he rides at lower RPM'S ? And that means he has less gyro? And his bike always pulling!

In Jet I see exceptional fitness and stamina, core and leg strength, and agilty. He's exceptional in his corner speed. I love watching him fly through corners. Watch how he rarely cut-turns. He runs a larger radius that is optimum for his acceleration. His tire spin acceleration out of corners is perfect for him. Lastly, his starts are superior too. The kid is a phenom. But..., with no Tomac or Sexton to race against, how fast is he really?

I watched Deagans latest video and was wondering…… How do these guys concentrate and stay in the zone when the fans are pestering them to no end for pics, autographs, etc….. It’s nuts.

What’s up with Chase? Is he coming back to race moto? It seems like he has given up on outdoors and is working for ktm already.

Deegan's scrub is better but the bike is 25 pounds lighter, not apples to apples. It's going to be a boring 3-4 years waiting for Deegan to graduate to 450s and challenge Jett.

What do you think of Kenny's Suzuki? Is this bike slowing him down a bit? Or, is Kenny experienced enough in bike set-up to make the Suzuki as fast as any bike?
