people seem to forget music is art, it's not so much about telling a story but more so painting a scene.

He's right about the critics. They were as bad as today's media.

Absolutely true. It didn't have to be that way. Disliking this album or that album, just because of one editor's opinion, could ruin careers of lesser bands than Led Zeppelin.

I saw John in concert about 7 years ago and he was charging $225 a ticket how is that helping the working man? I like his music, I can't lie, and I appreciate his point of view about certain things. John is not a liberal, he's a rich, very wealthy man who forgot where he came from. He's a walking, talking contradiction.

You mistake his confidence for vanity. The guy is as honest as you get in a pop star who made it to the top.

Love many of his tunes but so glad he stuck to music. Also thought it was hilarious that at a recent concert he got all pissy when someone asked him to sing more and proselytize less. Hilarious these musicians think their political opinions matter to people. I don't care which side you're on. If you're a musician I want to hear you play music. Not lecture me on my values.

The poem Ode by O'Shaughnessy is all about the power of musicians on politics and revolution. "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams..." The genuine artist is of the people, and gives them their voice.

John Mellencamp did have quite a few good songs and hits, but, I guess as he got older, he got some wiser about his career!

Trust me John you are liberal enough for everyone… I read a quote one time that he felt he needed to shut up about politics because he was getting tired of not selling records….how did that last piece of junk sell??? Jeez… be liberal just shut up!!!
