It's generally super rare for artists who sign under artists to succeed the way they have. If you're an upcoming artist you're better off signing with a big label (if possible) as they have the resources to nurture your career properly.

I know Kanye feels like his proteges betrayed him - and some of them did. But Sean leaving GOOD wasn't a betrayal in my books. If anything, Kanye betrayed Sean! In 2020, Kanye went on rant after rant about musician rights to own their masters and claimed that he'd return those rights to artist working under him. Except, after he pissed on a grammy and got what he wanted, he went radio silent on helping artist working for him. Sean had always expressed interest in growing his career beyond GOOD music and owning his masters would be a big step into building equity for his own brand. So it must have been a gut punch to see Kanye use musician Rights to get what he wanted but leave everyone else in the dust. If I were in Sean's position, I'd leave too.
