this feels a lot like watching a vox/johnny harris documentary. which is to say that it's incredibly well made and has had a lot of effort put into it. the transitions, the music, the scripting to the subtle ticks and sound effects on the scribbles - all these details blend so well and make it such a smooth watch. above all, it accomplishes the job that it's supposed to do - explain the topic well to a viewer. fantastic job, guys. looking forward to more of these.

Graphics, Visualization, narrative are the best I ever heard in Nepalese Vlog. Apart from it, Gorkha was Magar kingdom before Shah and they lived nomadic life (meaning hunting and gather) which is violence and arts & literature never flourish in such environments. Meanwhile, people from valley (newa) lived civilized society with less violence for food which payed road to flourish arts, architectures, and literature.

Valley didn't experience wars or that it didn't have an active military is not true. Valley used to be regularly attacked by Khas kings of the west. Malla kings had an active army consisting of battalions of Khas (Chhetri), Sayn (Tamang, Magar), Doya (Maithili), Gahrwali (Nagarkoti) soldiers who were under Newar Kshatriya army chiefs. Even today, some Newar clans like Pradhan (Pa-mah-ju/Pradhan Maharathi jyu), Amatya (Maha-ju/Maharathi jyu), Rajbhandari (kajis), Wanta, Maskey (Maha-Samar-Kesari) suggests they once were linked militarily.

you are right. kathmandu belongs to everyone. the main contention between the locals and the state is over control and management of the centuries-old cultural heritage, key aspects of which have been systematically dismantled in the past 50 years by gorkha politicians and planners. i don't think the locals ever forbid outsiders from settling in kathmandu and making it their home. inclusion and mixing are at the heart of the nepalese ethos. you are also right the nepals themselves are a conglomorate of different ethnic and racial groups that have mingled in the valley across the centuries and remained bound by a common language spoken since kirat times. respect the locals and help conserve what is dear to them; you will always be welcome and loved.

this is truly a really well composed and nicely elaborated video , but it misses a few nuances that are important in how things evolved , especially from the NOMENCLATURE and NEWA point of view , as y'all mentioned about the origin of Kathmandu valley , the texts available are not just the banshavali , but the scripts from Swayambhu and few more Chinese scripts too have significant information about the bodhisatwo MANJUSHREE's part and how the Valley got its name , the valley was initially named NEPA , the ethmological roots giving it the meaning " BLESSED BY THE GRACE OF GOD" , the inhabitants were initially and even till the Unification by Prithivi narayan Shah were called NEPA"MI" , and due to the business route and friendly approach f the Malla dynasty was a key point of trade between chinese and indian terrains !! However the thakuri/ Gurkha Shah dynasty of the west were considered more hostile and initially after the conquring of the valley , the whole trade scene fell in to pieces , when the name GORKHA RAJYA was used coz businessmen just feared to use this route ! So aded to the already well made infrastructure and seeing the financial /arm force benefits and to preserve the trade route , the NEPA valley was chosen to be the Capital of United Gorkha Rajya , name evolved to NEPAL , but the NEPAMI ppl got converted to NEWA /NEWARI . . but seriously this was such a a beautifully presented and well rounded with videos and photos and very well edited vox style video , absolutely loved it kudos to the team , looking forward to more amazing content

One thing is, after the conquest, Shahs never made each of the ethnic groups feel one. The only way they could rule was divide and conquer as they were taught by british. So the protection and conservation and all won't happen as only the Newa: of kathmandu valley considers the heritage their own. Others mostly think they own it. (not saying everyone) And Newa:s don't have control over anything. Even their own guthi is run by some bahun, no offense. If i say Everest is mine, i'm a bhote. if i say lumbini is mine, then i'm madhesi, if you say kathmandu is yours, you are Newa:. When this will happen then everyone will pan out in right direction. and in all this there is no bahun in kshetris. and the thing that's going on in USA about black lives matter kinda situation arises here. I don't intend to offend anyone. but the truth is many people don't respect indigenous people and try to put them down and rule over them like slaves. Because they know once each of the indigenous people in Nepal knows the real history, they won't comply the current way of the governance. (be it king, rana, democracy (loktantra, prajatantra) or communism. They all are the fox in sheeps skin.

@@kavyasubedi8994 If they had won against British then why is there different Treaties like Sugauli Treaty? Gorkha were pawn to disrupt the Mughal and Tibet trade and the junction was Nepal Valley. Things changed with British so Gorkha had to sign humiliated Treaties like Sugauli Treaty, etc. If they hadn't signed the treaty, this current territory, so called Nepal, would have been a state of India. In history taught in school, it is always said the Gorkha never lose, really..? Kirtipur people, any answer.? Kirat from East? Whenever they confront, they had normally lost, they did, chhal kapat, like for Kirtipurians, mit laune, ani mit lai ghaat laune, padhna, lekhna, sikna Bhaktapur aaune, ani Bhaktapur khane, 😂☺️And Indians can say, we unified India, like Gorkha say we unified Nepal(Double Standard ) . Amazing video, but I have some criticism: 1. The narrator seems to be lacking of confidence, due to which the voice seems artificial (meaning the voice feels forced during some parts) and the narration seems a bit fast for my liking. This can be solved with more experience. 2. For the editor, in some parts the music track shadows the narration which I don't like. Also I don't know if the narrator spoke with low volume or there is mistake during eq. Otherwise a nice video, graphics on point. I wish all of you best for your future.
