Lars is smart. There’s a reason he has always done most of the interviews. He was also right about Napster. 20 years later the business of selling music is dead. Fans who don’t play don’t care, but, the fact is these guys and MANY others don’t bother making records anymore and that’s the real tragedy

People criticize, me included when i was younger before i had others experience. I mean , i always defended Lars on what he did on thoses legendary albums and he was indeed a great drummer in albums and in Live. I could be disappointed with his low key moments after that. That said , im happy he s got his fire and dedication back since the 3 last years. But people have to realize Lars had a lot of physical issues especially after the Black album load reload era thing. But the black album tour, he was playing very well, but see how he hits and stuff, play like that , for 3 hours , each night for touring 3 years straight. Ligament problems, Drugs problems, shoulders tore up. So now , i understand, i had a Dystonia 3 years ago. Its a tough shit to deal with, even mentally. I don't excuse him, but im very happy he refound some of his level nowadays, despite the struggles

I do not have any tattoos but I can see why people would want certain ones. I think that all these girls getting what's become known as the "Tramp stamp" really says a lot about the women who get them. A) They don't mind being referenced as or thought of as a tramp. B) They would jump off the bridge if their friends did it. Personally I don't care if someone has a Tattoo or not, but at the same time I think when people go overboard, such as Motley Crue members did, it becomes ugly. I saw a woman with this beautiful bird tattoo that covered her entire back! While the artwork was perfect and gorgeous, I did think that it makes no sense to get a tattoo like that because you the wearer of it never get to see it. I know that Lars gets a lot of hate but there is something about him that I like. People are still mad at him about the whole Napster fiasco and he, like Gene Simmons, is very vocal about their disapproval of all this downloading music stuff. So to anyone who gets angry with people complaining about this stuff let's try an experiment shall we? You go to work next week, you really bust your ass and do the absolute best job you can possibly do and at the end of the week when you open the envelope that contains your check there will just be a critique of your work for that week. Let's try that and see if you like not getting paid for doing your job. Artists spend a lot of time and effort into creating their music, or their painting or whatever it is they do. Why shouldn't they be paid for it? Why should you or I be able to download and entire album free of charge?

Metallica's case against Napster was valid--they got bad press for it but that doesn't mean they were wrong. The court of popular opinion is not truth or justice. It's just opinions from mostly uninformed hypocrites. Not going to lie, when I was younger I did download some music but stopped pretty quickly since I knew it was wrong. Since then I have only bought albums. I mean, youtube is fantastic for finding music you don't know about. And if you like it go out and buy the album! And Lars is a very good drummer. I'm not a big Metallica fan or anything but I love them as people and I love the fact that they are still here. So, all my respect to them. Yeah, I found that you can't talk many people out of getting a tat. Had buddies that got tattoes in their faces. Lars isn't a technical drummer, but it's his simple and hard hitting style which made Metallica memorable and great. I buy physical copies of music whenever it's possible too. If you want to find out more about how downloading influenced the music industry, listen to some interviews with Gene Simmons. The guy is a real asshole sometimes, but he really hits home with what he says about the topic. Downloading didn't affect profits of artists which were already established, as much as it hit small and underground bands. There isn't going to be another Metallica, Guns'N'Roses or Nirvana. I'm not a HUGE Metallica fan. I listened the hell out of their older stuff and I'm definitely a fan. But, I've gotta be honest.... most of the discussions I've had about Metallica, I pretty much covered the "ripping on Lars" base. Especially after seeing Some Kind of Monster, in which he really came off to me as a total douche. But I found him to be very likable, very humble, and very interesting in this interview, which is nice to see. I also happen to share his enthusiasm for not getting tattoos. I have none as well. I've always been one to see through the facades we all have, whether it be tattoos, hair styles, clothes, piercings, make up, whatever... and not let any of it sway me when it comes to seeing the actual person underneath all of that. All that stuff doesn't really matter when it really comes down to it. If you like tattoos, get 'em. If you don't... don't. For me personally, it's not that I don't like tattoos- it's that I would almost certainly get sick of seeing whatever it was that was drawn on my body, no matter how well it was done or how much I loved it at the time. 10 years... 20 years later... Cause he really does suck at drumming live. And people have hated him since he tried to sue his own fans. He wanted every penny he could get. Southpark said it best. People who downloaded his music really hurt him. He had to wait a whole extra month to have his gold and diamond plated pool installed. The horror. He could have been a hero and learned to go with the future of music and figure out a way to make money from the internet back then but instead he tried to make sure he got every penny from anyone who wants to listen to Metallica. But also he's a hypocrite cause he had said in the past that he was a big proponent of tape trading back in the day and thats not far from what he got mad about. I be more understanding of it if they were a band just starting out and needed the money for every album sale to get the career going. But he had already made tens of millions by that point. Just showed him to be greedy. But seriously he is always messing up songs live. He is always not on time and sometimes even misses whole parts of songs or will even play wrong song. I just dont think he cares anymore. I think James is the only one who still loves it, Rob just goes with whatever, Kirk looks like he is ready to retire and like I said Lars doesnt care he just wants the checks that come after every show.

@@JC-bl9bo in all honesty and technical terms, clicking on a youtube music video is exactly the same. Downloads the video as well as the audio and screams to ban youtube aren't going to go very far. So the issues raised are probably just a red herring to what is the true motivation. Monopolies on distributed content raises the question of what choice do I have when it comes to my listening preferences? Vinyl was taken away, everything digitized, personal players were put on the market to purchase individual songs for your earbuds. So what happened to the days when we all could get together and share an album in a group? Well, just sit and text all day on our data networks, no need to assemble and have social skills unless its at a show to listen. Much more was going on at that time then someone downloaded a song. No different than a DJ playing it to me over the radio minus the commercial.
