I almost died when they announced another Legends game. A part of me always thought it was likely. But at the same time, there was always that part of me that thought it could have just been a one-time thing. Pokémon Legends Arceus was the best Pokémon game in years to me. That fight against Volo and Giratina still gives me goosebumps lol I have high hopes for Z-A.

I thought it was overrated, and not as good in terms of exploration as in generations 1-6. The overworld in legends arceus feels empty and their is barley anything to do in it, no underwater exploration, no explorable underwater temple, nothing just a boring waste of space of land. There was never a reason to go open world, when LGPE is a traditionally designed region like gens 1-5 and was able to mix in the overworld roaming Pokémon mechanic with traditional route design.

@@derekosgood3230 I mean any reasonable person would expect an open world game to have multiple things to do and engage with in the overworld, because otherwise what would even be the point of going open world if it doesn’t offer anything substantial to justify its existence? The way the open world concept is executed in eldin ring is really good and well crafted. Some franchises do a better job at open world then others. A common issue that games have is that they go open world because they feel need to continue on that trend without realizing that maybe open world just isn’t the direction some series should take. A common issue most open world games have is that the overworld feels empty with little to do in it to justify its existence. In my opinion why should development resources be spent on creating an open world Pokémon with a lot of unoccupied space in its overworld when we can save development cost and create a more condensed region with traditional route design and still offer overworld roaming Pokémon without the need to even go open world? That’s why games like SV and legends arceus felt very unnatural, because it feels like we are going open world just for the sake of it but their barely anything in the overworld to do outside of just gathering resources and catching pokemon, it feels like a waste of resources and development time to go open world when we can have a game or region with a similar map design philosophy to generations 1-5 while adding overworld roaming Pokémon similarly to the way LGPE added it, maybe mix in wild encounters like how swsh does it. Was there even a need to go open world? I would make the arguement that their never truly was a need, why should their open spaces of land with nothing to do? That’s a waste of development time and resources that can be used into creating a more condensed region with tons to do and engage with and a lot features to fill the condensed overworld with. The only argument or justification people have to going open world is that we are able to have roaming Pokémon but LGPE is a game that proves that they never needed to go open world to have Pokémon roam around the more condensed well designed routes.

@@Merciless_Zero Well Legends Arceus had open zones. It wasn't fully open world. I didn't expect tears of the kingdom complexity. I don't think any reasonable person with experience playing a pokémon game thought anything like that. There was plenty to do if you did everything the game offered. If you did and it still wasn't enough, then the game just wasn't for you, and you just have to move on to more complex games. But whether it needs to be open world or not, that wasn't my decision. I didn't develop it. I just bought it, played it, and ended up enjoying it. That's all that really matters to me.

I’m just hoping Pokémon attacking you and alpha Pokemon become a mainstay. It’s the closest thing to mini bosses we ever got. Pokémon actually feel wild. I think action rpg elements in Pokemon should have been there from the moment the series went on switch

5:02 - Would like to clarify so there's no confusion. When Nintendo made that statement, that was mostly them referring to the models of the Switch. AKA Standard, Lite and OLED as it's not the first time they used the plural form for the Switch given they officially call them the Nintendo Switch 'Family' on their website. This was also done to put together the DS/3DS/2DS Family. Now I want to note though, I'm not saying this doesn't mean it's not happening. Only that that specific statement doesn't entirely mean what people think and shouldn't be taken as alluding to the successor of the Switch.

I completely agree Johnny. You can tell that the legend series are projects were GG can just throw out all the traditions and just experiment with what you can do with the Pokemon world. This is the first time that these really seen some sort of spiritual successor in any form of the series since arguably bw2. Another thing that's exciting is that we can't predict what's going to happen because there really is no set Norm

I like that you compare Legends ZA with how Go did for the late 2010s. ZA already pretty much sold majority of the loyal Pokemon fan base just by its teaser alone by making it about Gen 6 Kalos, which totally deserves an extension. Then when the next trailer drops and it showcases sophisticated graphical fidelity while being one of the launch titles of the brand new Switch 2, that's gonna make the rest of the consumers of the brand irresistibly hooked to wanna purchase it. If Nintendo plays their cards right, Legends will seriously skyrocket in sales and popularity, and its influence to the rest of the mainline titles moving forward will be monumental.

I would still like them to integrate more mechanics from the "sub-series" into the main core of the pokemon, the main thing being the catching, for one it makes too much sense to be able to throw the balls yourself like the anime. Second being able to catch 20+ mons within a minute is a huge fucking W.

It's hard for me to compare to my previous favorites/best like GSC/HGSS cuz they're classic for their time and not sure how I view them holding up by comparison. I actually wouldn't mind if GF did a premium classic style game that's still top-down view, on grid, but HD-2D or something. would allow us to get new versions of the old style games without having the halfway 3D style era. they were master 2D game devs by HGSS and I would love to see what a new game like that would be like. PLA was maybe the first time I felt I was playing the type of future Pokemon game I imagined as a kid. would love one that has gyms, league, etc. on top of everything else

After the awful experience with Scarlet, I have little hope that gen 10 will be any good. Legends on the other hand has a reputation going for it, and gives me a little hope that Z-A won't disappoint. But $95 for gen 9 is absurd and unacceptable, when you look at the low quality and constant glitches. Z-A needs to be amazing.

I feel like the main generational games shouldn't be too ignored because the main games are fuel that continued the competitive series and Game Freak despite it being more similar in terms of gameplay they are adding new stuff into each generation.

Never thought about how likely it would be for legends za being a switch 2 launch title due to all the talk about metroid prime 4 being the launch title. Both are as likely as the other imo as they both have an unknown 2025 release date and with switch 2 being extremely likely to release before April 2025

I'm super excited for a new Legends game. I wanted a D/P/PT remake so bad and was really disappointed in BDSP. But when I got around to Arceus, I was hoping Pokemon games would be more like THIS going forward. Not so much the "back in the past" kinda stuff, as cool as that was. But I wanted Scarlet and Violet to play more like Arceus. The option to just throw a ball or take a battle was so refreshing. Taking damage from Pokemon also added a bit to the suspense as you didn't white out in wild battles and had to run from the Pokemon that just destroyed your team. Also, I much prefer the Arceus, or even the Sword/Shield artsyles. I didn't like how everything had textures in S/V, although it didn't all look bad to me. I just prefer the cel shaded look in a Pokemon game. I hope the game just performs WAYYY better than S/V did. I don't think I can handle playing another Pokemon game in slowmo 60% through the entirety of the game again. Also, maybe add multiplayer. I'd love to stealth catch or even do boss battles with my wife. I'm hoping it'll be a Switch 2(or whatever they call the next console) release title so it DOES look and play well. I also really liked Kalos despite how easy X/Y were, I'm REALLY excited to jump in again

Yeah, I bet Nintendo put their foot down after they had to apologize for the poor state of Scarlet/Violet themselves. And really, it was only a matter of time. If anything, Nintendo is very quality-oriented, and the last few generations of Pokemon counteract that image. The Pokemon franchise is a big money machine for Nintendo, and they're not going to sit idly by if that's in jeopardy. Even if it still sells now, there's no guarantee that it will forever if the quality continues to decline. Arceus was still a rough game from a technical standpoint but a step in the right direction.

On the Reveal Trailer for Legends Z-A they advertised the Nintendo Switch logo not referencing that it would be on the switch successor

I believe the team b made the legends games after making and releasing the let’s go games since the let’s go games took two years to make from the time they started to the time they released. And the A team made sword and shield and scarlet and violet. I don’t think Nintendo is involved with the legends games and they don’t really have a had in the development of the mainline game. Especially legends arcues, sword and shield, scarlet and violet, and possibly legends z-a. As both legends arcues and scarlet and violet was made by both teams in gamefreak along side each other. More likely that legends z-a probably started development after legends arcues was out in January and then gen 10 probably started development in the fall of 2022 after scarlet and violet released. As for legends when we first got the sales numbers for legends, I knew that it was going to possible continue. After all the legends made them millions for them to have more games just like the remakes do for Pokemon and was successful. Gamefreak has the remakes, the legends games, and main generational game starters that start the generation. If they finish with the remakes, they can start to have more legends games. The potential for legends for more forms, new character designs, story, and everything else is also there as well.

It's neither "Zetta" nor "Z to A" It's "Z A". I don't think it will be a Switch 2 launch title. The Switch 2 is probably launching Spring 25, otherwise, there would be no reason for Nintendo to fully reveal it before March 25, which they already confirmed they will do. LZA is not launching Spring 25, if it was, we would be around the second full trailer for it now. Also, all rumors say 3D Mario is the launch title, which makes much more sense. I think it will come out later, I think there is a chance we see the first gameplay bit in the Switch 2's announcement trailer, which should come in the next months, or if not, in the next Pokémon Presents also in the next months.

It's the best and worst thing to happen. It's good because it helped innovate the next gen and what will come after it, as they were allowed to try new things. However it is bad because many fans wanted a ORAS style remake for BDSP, but got near 1:1 remakes that disappointed many fans, this most likely due to Game Freak not sharing the data needed for Mega Pokemon, which may have been a factor in the harmed BDSP, the underground was nice.

Gimme Legends games anyday. Wind down on the paired versions for a while and focus more on this amazing subseries, please. PL:A was what truly reignited my interest in Pokémon (following earlier in the year when I finally got around to beating Moon after leaving it unfinished for 6 years) after losing interest when Gen 7 rolled around. It was the breath of fresh air the franchise desperately needed. SV didn't really bring anything of what made it special back.

Do you know what would be a legendary legend game? Pokemon Legends: Deoxys. Trainer travel to the moon in rayquaza and catch deoxys, deoxys new form, clefable connection to the moon and new evolutioned form. Solgaleo and Lunala being cosmic pokemon may have a secondary rol. So much ideas for Hoenn and Alola mixed map.

I'm gonna be honest with you While i do agree that there were some great things to come from the legends formula, i think it strayed TOO much from the wah Pokemon is supposed to operate for my taste While i don't necessarily have a problem with Pokemon attacking you when trying to catch them, i think they dropped the ball with not having to fight them at all sometimes. It just makes some Pokemon feel like collectors items and considering that's what Pokemon Go and Let's Go did, it just doesn't sit well with me. What's especially aggravating about it is that they put so much of an emphasis on catching that it's mandatory just to progress in the story, especially during Legends Arceus. I HATED having to catch random Pokemon that i more often than not didn't want to use, just so i could move on. I hope they tone back on that drastically in Legends ZA and and put a heavier focus on battling. The Dex should NEVER be a mandatory part of any game. Keep it optional or don't include it at all Speaking of battling, i also hated the battle system they implemented. Not only was not having a turn problematic as you had no idea when you'd get to move sometimes, but the strong and agile styles were so annoying and detrimental if you didn't play it right. Agile style did let you attack twice in a row but if you didn't KO despite that, you could get obliterated. And strong style means you can't atrack until up to two turns later if your opponent gets to attack twice, which is really problematic if you still cannot KO. Meaning you're taken out before you can even move sometimes. I hope in the next legends game, they make battling go back to the way it was Also, despite the game being called legends Arceus, the title Pokemon was hardly even relevant in the whole plot. That is BS treatment for a title Pokemon. I hope Zygarde plays a more central role in ZA So yeah the things that they can improve on in future legends games are a better bsttle system, less emphasis on catching, not making the dex a mandatory part of progression, and making the titular Pokemon a prevalent part of the story

iIt’s the first Pokémon game since Gen 2 that I actually bothered to finish. (Yes, I beat Pokémon Let’s Go, but it’s a remake of Gen 1.) This is the first Pokémon game that made me feel like I was playing something akin to the pokemon anime. My adventures in the forest areas remind me of Ash's adventures in Viridian Forest etc.... It's a superb game and really pulled me back into the series, at least for this sub series. But I’m really worried about the sequel taking place in a city. I mean, it could be really unique, like an SMT game but with Pokémon instead of demons, but the large wild areas are what make Legends so special. We need footage of Legends ZA and fast.

2D anime graphical video games can theoretically save memory to have extra fun gameplay content without compressing the models. Pokémon is fun when being 2D, no matter how Japanese the series is.

Legends is a fun enough time, but they need to fix the battle system for me to truly get behind it. The way battles and stats work is just so bad and antithetical to a game that would have any major amount of trainer battles. Its just mindless kill trading with a hilariously unbalanced turn order system. There is a reason Volo is literally the only fight people talk about, its because the rest are bad and in a system like PLA's anyone with the mon advantage is usually gonna win by default minus the minor strategy you can employ. Don't even get me started on how dumb gravel is and the removal of items and abilities. And even more as someone who plays PvP, it genuinely makes these games unfun to play, which is why I've soured on PLA the more time has gone on(that and me noticing how repetitive the gameplay loop is on replays because of how boring the battles can be). There is a lot of stuff to love there, and certainly a couple of things I hope mainline games take from Legends, but those are my general thoughts. Especially as someone who isn't particularly bothered by tech issues, I far prefer SV(albeit an extra year of time to cook and polish for gen X is making me very excited). Its just my opinion of course, but they really need to change some things up for me to enjoy PLZA to the fullest, I'll probably still like it a lot, especially on first play, but yeah the battle system is the really big mark against it for me, especially when standard pokemon has one of the best turn based battle systems ever made, especially for PVP.

You call it Legends Zeta, I've heard it called ZA(ZeeAy) as its spelled, Za(Zah) like a Pizza, and just Pokémon Z, which is Essentially what it is... and Lehendza(Leh Genn Dza/ Legenza)... This is of no matter, just saying... Still... While Legends Arceus was good, and S&V was Broken, both were essentially Experimental... going forward, there'll likely be MUCH better games... But a Launch title for the Successor? Probably not. Sure, it WILL be available at launch, but seeing as they might not even unveil the next system until MARCH, itll probably just be a backwards compatible thing... But... Metroid prime 4? Yeah, look at the trailer... of that's REALLY in engine footage, thats DEFINITELY Next-Console... If the system IS backwards compatible, which it hopefully will be unless Nintendo is REALLY DUMB, It will launch to a few exclusives, like MP4, and an entire 8 year games catalogue, likely with Enhancements only available on the new machine... much like The Xbox one when playing a 360 title... or the Series X playing a Xone Title. So Legends Z-A available at launch? Certainly. A dedicated Launch Title? Nah, probably not. But hey, if the runors of It being as powerful as, for example, the Asus Rog Ally, are true... We might see tripleA Titles from The PC, Playstation, and X-box Get a Nintendo version... Things like Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3, or, given Microsofts current attidude, Fallout 4:Switch Edition(with Yoshi costume for dogmeat, And A flower-shaped Flamethrower... and maybe the master sword)... I think that would be cool.

@@matthewrowlett1564 while I agree with you that Pokemon might not be available RIGHT at launch, rather near launch, I disagree with the notion that the footage of Metroid Prime 4 looks like something that would only be possible on Switch 2. Prime Remaster looks almost exactly the same and that runs buttery smooth on Switch 1 Also yeah I agree it shouldn't matter how we say it haha. You'd be surprised how many people got genuinely offended when I called it Zeta in my last video

I meant the Refresh Rate... it's probably been fixed for the trailer, but there's ZERO motion blur in what's shown, which is at least 60fps... most games on switch Range from 30 to 50 fps, even if they claim otherwise. That said, The supposed footage was PROBABLY taken from the Dev Computer rather than The actual system, which would explain it... I mean, Prime Remastered looks great, but when you turn the camera, there's still some blur... from what we've seen of 4, the only Blurring Is During the Morphball Screens, and it's minor. It's Fast. BUT it could just not be a Processing power heavy game. We won't know until it releases... But what if they BOTH released before the next system... Then what the Heck will be the Launch Titles? Well... what if Gamefreak has a second project in the works, and Z-A is a distraction, much like Legends Arceus... because NOBODY saw S&V coming... it's announcement was a surprise. So what if... The Successor launches with Gen10? I mean,That's what I would do... That and make a deal with Sega for a full Remake of the Sonic Adventure Series... Conspiracy theory? Probably. Be cool as heck, though.

Still looks like crap. These backwards developers are still stuck in the past and no matter how garbage of a game they make the fanboys will line up to line their pockets thus never teaching them a lesson to change. Pokemon needs to change a LOT -down to it's core- to actually improve.

I agree, I got bored of the game after a while because it felt like all you had to do when not doing story content was to throw the pokeball to catch pokemon. But I do appreciate that game freak tried out new things in legends arceus! I am looking forward to what fresh ideas they might have going to legends z-a.

I don't agree. it is not the best thing that ever happen to pokemon. Legends doesn't work as a game and is the worst game i ever had the misfortunate of playing. Action RPG doesn't work and Pokemon should stay away from that.
