You have such a good eye and a confident hand, Lewis.

Love the energy in these, which as you say comes from painting out in the open

Thanks. Painting outdoors is the foundation of all my work.

I'm in awe of the detail. I've recently begun your abstracted landscape course, but so far I have far less detail in my outdoor efforts (not best time of year, it's true - cold and wet and pretty dull). So, this is a good reminder of what can be achieved. A fascinating and varied sense of colour, shape, detail, shading and those wonderful hints of the original landscape. Thank you for inspiring me to keep going....

I hope you enjoy the course. Keep your painting kit very limited and you can get really quick sketches to work with. Over thinking and carrying too much gear get in the way of doing it. Keep it simple. :)

This is a fascinating method to use your sketch and make a whole new painting of it round the center part.Thanks for this idea.

Such a interesting process!! But I need some help here. When you have done this in the sketchbook- then what? Would love too see how you use this in step 2

I do use these as reference for my studio work. It’s a bit of a complex answer which is why I made a 4 week workshop on the subject!

Is it oil or soft pastels you use, Lewis? And how do you fix it?
@LewisNobleArtist8 күн бұрын
Bit of both. I generally don’t need to fix them if they stay in sketchbook or are framed under glass.

Im wondering how you tack down your collage pieces.. if you do at all. I love drawing /painting abstract pictures and am fascinated in my marks, etc. The outdoor work is a great idea. Brings more reaction/energy from nature. Thanks

I can't paint outside, due to disability. I wonder if you have any tips for how to work this way in a very small space indoors. Perhaps from photographs? I really do need more spontaneity :)

Painting from photos is fine as long as you think about them as source material rather than something to copy or reproduce. I do have a workshop about this if you want to have a look. Here’s the link www.lewisnoble.co.uk/pac-join-instant
