Your art is uniquely different from everyone else's on IG & KZbin! I learn so much from watching you color mix. Always Amazed at the variety you get out of a limited palette. I put out too much paint colors out, so I will definitely try 4 with B&W. You are a wonderful inspiring teacher. So kind the way you share your techniques. Clay board (bord) a new substrate to explore. Thanks, Betty!

Appreciate your generosity in sharing your process and tips. I always listen to radio dramas on you tube. They have dramatized several agatha Christy, miss Marple and Poirot dramas. Fun distractions from details.

I have listened to some of those stories, too, on KZbin. Love them!

I think one of the most important things to remember as an artist is that all of our compositions have an “ugly” stage we have to push through. I have to be honest- I wasn’t crazy about these at first- then as you continued to push through and build your textures, colors, and values and how they all play off one another- beautiful! I really like the concept of working multiples at once and how you jump back and forth when stuck. The bonus is pairs that people may want to buy as companions! Love these!❤

Thanks, Jennifer! I have to agree...I never like my pieces in the beginning. It's just too early in the process to like them. Once I hit the homestretch, you can really see it come together. I hope you try working in multiples! Thanks so much for watching!

Thank you for once more freely giving of yourself and teaching us along the way. I especially gravitate to these two for the compositions you hit upon and the unique balance of design and color.

I think I’m guilty of having too many colours on my pallet. I think I probably put too much paint down too. I really appreciate your thoughts and love the idea of using a warm pallet of colours I love warm colours but I always seem to end up using cold colours and feeling bad about what I produce! Self sabotage maybe.

Hi Jane! No need to feel bad about what you create. It's a learning process! Enjoy the journey!

Since the paint surface is smooth and shiny will the paint peel easily?
@BettyFranksArt15 күн бұрын
Good question! Although it's smooth, it's Acid-free kaolin clay, which is an absorbent surface for the acrylic paints to adhere to. I'm curious. You say to limit the colours, but you used many colours for this project. Is it out 20 colours to limit to 5 or 6 colours? I need more clarity on this. Thank you
@BettyFranksArt9 күн бұрын
I'm happy to clarify. Other than the colors I used at the very beginning to create a deeper/complex black, for the painting, I used 4 colors (magenta, red, Indian yellow, and cad yellow medium) plus black and white. From those colors, I created many new colors. However, I didn't add more colors from my jars of paints. I hope that answers your question. Thanks so much for watching!
