I would actually love it as a movie. Working with Lemons did a few "movie versions" of the songs and they looked really good in my opinion. (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKuoXmmPlLt6fpIsi=A09ezUBUZJc4cE2O) Just having all those elaborate dances In realistic historical locations would be awesome for me.

I agree, I can’t quite see Hamilton a movie unlike wicked - I clearly envisioned it as a movie, and now it’s better than how I could ever imagine it!
@RangerGSDАй бұрын
Hamilton is basically all dialogue & singing/rapping. Wicked is way more adventure focused in the fantasy world with a lot to explore in scenes between the singing. Hamilton really doesnt need a full movie adaption to showcase it's story - the filmed version of the musical was already perfect.

Hear me out, hot take here, NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE REMADE 😨😱 the Pro-shot is already a masterpiece, and if they made it into a movie, there is a high likelyhood that it would be tainted in some way; if they recast anyone, there would be an uproar, and there would be so many complaints about every little detail

I saw Hamilton with my daughter in Utah this Summer. It was AMAZING! She actually lives in Germany the rest of the year but she loves the musical and knows every word. It will probably go down as one of our best memories together. I was super close with her when she was born, stay at home Dad and all, and it was the first time since she became a teenager where I felt we recaptured some of that magic again.

Hamilton has been released as a film, they recorded the original MUSICAL and released it. I don’t think people realize how difficult that was to ACTUALLY accomplish. There is NO WAY that they would risk handing the script to ANY director.

Every musical don’t gotta be a movie
@Anonymous-qh9gqАй бұрын
No, but it's always welcomed as long as it is a faithful adaptation that does the source material justice. Movie musicals are more accessible than Broadway, it allows people to experience the music and the story who otherwise wouldn't be able to. So until Broadway normalises releasing proshots for all of their shows and makes Broadway shows accessible to the public, bring on the movie musicals
@SwirlzberryАй бұрын
@ I dont have access to west end or broadway as they are BOTH not even in my country. Although i do appreciate movie musicals, they could begin to record more proshots as you have stated. I am not bashing the creation of movie musicals since they have made me have more access to musicals i enjoy like Chicago. Although, the overproduction of the movie musicals could leave it to have lower broadway viewing rates as they could “just see this at home”. Movie musicals can be nice but maybe not so soon. I know its been a decade but maybe when its off of broadway. Save it, ykwim? Also somethings just do not work as movies. Hamilton has no dialogue and is told through song and dance, i cant picture it as a movie. I mean more creative minds possibly can, and this is my personal opinion. No hate btw

@briannaromero2691Ай бұрын
@@kiroolioneaver8532 even from a perspective of theater fans, I know many who aren’t interested in seeing Hamilton because it’s about a president and they don’t care about that kind of stuff. It was kind of boring to me as a musical, so just really couldn’t picture it as a movie. It doesn’t have gut wrenching relatable to anyone factor.. unlesss your a man in position to be president and care more about work than your own family.

@@briannaromero2691 "Hamilton" has done well in terms of album streams/sells, attendance, and the viewership on Disney+. There will absolutely be an audience for a film if it comes out. I'd argue "Hamilton" as a Broadway play was more a part of the pop culture when it was released than "Wicked" was (mostly because Ham came out during the social media era). "The room where it happens" is literally a part of the political lexicon.

Adapting *Hamilton* into a movie is tough because the diversity of the cast is central to its identity. In a musical, anyone can play any role, but in a film, race and culture matter more. If they made the cast all people of color, there’d be backlash since the historical figures were European. But removing that diversity would lose what makes *Hamilton* special.
@kevinbailey8827Ай бұрын
The first movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar had a framing device where a group of "players" arrived in the desert in a bus and started unloading props for their performances. Then they became their characters and the framing device was mostly abandoned until the end, when they all get back on the bus (except the actors whose characters had died). That device gave them cover for the anachronistic elements, like tanks and jet fighters. The play within a play structure gives the audience permission to accept a soulful white hippie as Jesus and a Black man as Judas and a Japanese-Chinese-Irish American woman as Mary Magdalene. I want every musical I like to be a movie, but I don't NEED it, so if the creators aren't happy with the pitches they're getting, then I'm not going to suffer too much. But it can be done.

Okay so here is how I would shoot one of the songs for Hamilton. For Satisfied, we keep the camera focused on Angelica in the center while the world slowly but quickly starts to rewind back to the first night her and sister first met Alexander Hamilton. Because a majority of the song is set during a memory, the action going on around the characters singing will get faster as the characters sining will get a little faster as the memory ends. The camera will as before focus on Angelica who then quickly looks down; and then looks up as she raises something in her hand slowly but quickly to which the camera reveals to be her glass being held up high. This would then reveal to the audience we're back in the present for these characters. That said in what order would I shoot this? I would definitely shoot the beginning and ending first then all the stuff in between. Infact that would be the literal first song to shoot.
@andyndanaemcburney12214 күн бұрын
You will shoot in in the order that makes sense based on technical things like where the lights and camera need to be (and therefore what order makes sense for the setups) , actor needs, whether the entire song can be shot in one take or if it needs to be broken into sections, how much time is alloted to shoot this song, and probably a bunch of other concerns that would come up when you're actually doing it. I've worked on film sets for 15 years and while generally a scene is shot from wider to closer, all these factors can affect the plan.

If they could make 1776 into a movie musical I honestly have faith they could make Hamilton into a movie musical. I believe it may even be better than the 1776 movie which currently has a 84% audience score which is actually really good. I could see a Hamilton done in a very similar way as 1776 get a 90% audience score and hopefully a better Critic score since majority of the bad scores for 1776 was because the story and songs they didn’t love and that would be fixed with Hamilton which had better songs and a much better story than 1776 had while it was on Broadway.
