The key here is Soboszlai. His energy allows other players to thrive. Even when playing 10 men for 2 games. He practically covers the entire midfield on his own. Hence why double pivot is such a good solution whenever Liverpool needs goals.

Finally I can hear something good about Liverpool. Every channel or pundits that have been covering about are covering really not well and mostly negative like Salah getting sold or Klopp leaving for Germany. When Liverpool till now have been a very interesting team to watch. Tough fixtures, new midfielders and they are still winning. This year Klopp has bodies where he is making lot of tatcical switches immediately and it's impacting game. But I have seen none of this being discussed. It's actually very annoying. Same thing arsenal or spurs do they are getting praised. But when it comes to Liverpool it's so lazy. CHEERS🥂 JAMES REALLY LOVED IT.

Could easily do a video on how good Szoboszlai has been already. Every game that passes, I get more and more impressed. That sprint when he caught up to Neto blew my mind, only 2 players have clocked a higher speed in recent seasons, had no idea he was that quick. Along with Salah and Alisson, Dom is one the first names on the team sheet for sure
@ComradeOgilvy1984
@ComradeOgilvy1984 9 ай бұрын
Szobo is absurdly fast for a midfielder, and I am scratching my head to think of anyone in the league who compares. Ox was the fastest midfielder on the roster, but he was not as quick as Dom. Would be a decent pace merchant of a forward (but that would be a waste of his broader talents). When the midfield gels, the potential for overlaps and underlaps with Salah is exciting -- we have already seen this a few times.

Last season, Klopp was extremely predictable in his subs and tactics and I suspect it’s because he didn’t trust any of the personnel he had off the bench. Every game, 2 subs at 60 and then milner on at 82. Every. Game. Now, you can tell he trusts so many more of his bench to come on and play the versatile systems like you said. Really exciting times for Liverpool fans. A lot of people doubted Klopp last season and said he wasn’t elite or tactically adequate but he’s proving he’s flexible and so are the team.

I feel like tactical flexibility is so underrated. For me, Arsenal's main problem toward the end of last season was not being able to be dominant in different ways. Without Zinny and Salibe it all kind of fell apart. Liverpool really impressed me against Wolves. Disappointing first half, but being able to go back out on the pitch and dominate like that for 45 minutes is really impressive and it only took 1 sub to immediatly improve the system. They are, for me, title challengers alongside City and Arsenal this year.

@@alteringmatter8782 That is the thing that is being over looked - Mac Allister is being trusted so much, that despite him playing at the highest football ground above sea level 3 days prior, and needing an oxygen mask - and then not arriving into the country until 5am on Friday morning (so was not able to train at all on Friday) he still played him from the start. It was super clear within like 15 mins of the match that he was clearly struggling, and Klopp made the change at half time to remedy this. What James forgot was it wasn't just the Diaz coming on that changed the game, but the tactical awareness that having Gomez play like Trent has been - as an inverted full back striding into midfield - was incorrect. So at half time, hwe was clearly told to stop doing that, and revert to an old fashioned "proper" RB - and from that point on, Neto and the rest couldn't get past him as he was in the correct position to defend.

My favourite time to support Liverpool is the season after an underwhelming season for our own recent standards. People (Not Jim) seemingly forget that we are still an incredible squad and underestimate Klopp, his tactics and his ability to get the best out of players. Losing our captain, Fabinho as well as many of our fringe players wasn't ideal and not part of the plan but we have replaced the minutes those fringe players played already with just two incomings in Mac Allister and Dominik (Still can't spell his name without looking it up so won't try), add Endo and Gravenberch to that and we've more than replenished the squad. We are stronger than last season with seemingly more reliable options that have more energy in their legs. How far it will take us and how successful we will be this season isn't clear but we are definitely a better team than last year.

Klopp is really showing his ability as a manager this year. The mentality of the team to believe we'll win, and Klopp making the right decisions at the right time was what made the teams of a couple of years ago so dangerous. We will challenge this year, and likely win the Europa as well which will complete Klopp's personal trophy cabinet at the club.

Interesting observations, and it feels like Klopp finally has the players needed to make some of these tactical shifts. I would add that the final shape they ended up in was more of a 4-2-2-2 (in attack) w/ Diaz (LW) & Elliott (RW) wide of Nunez & Salah... and a proper 4-4-2 in defense. Very enthused to see LFC (and Klopp) becoming more tactically adept and less predictable.

it’s so nice to have options off the bench, not just going forward but in midfield aswell. I remember 2017-20 we had the bare front 3, we had 4 playable midfielders and we needed them all to be fit every week to win games and thankfully they always were. Then even in 21/22 We only bought diaz in january, until then we only had one sub forward of class in jota which wasn’t ideal cus jota and firmino were often injured. Now we have 5 top class forwards, we have 3 good 8’s and a couple other ok, 2 6’s who have question marks over them but we can work around that then in defence it’s a bit limited but if we can keep them fit like we did salah firmino man back in the day we’ll be fine

I always say this: if Liverpool can keep Konate for 75% of the season(especially during big games) and solve their DMF issue(I think Bajcetic has to step up a lot because Mac as a 6 isn't going to work that much) we definitely have a shot at the title. You can clearly see the goal Liverpool conceded so far are either individual errors(TAA horrible against Newcastle and Bournemouth) or against Wolves were Matip was smoked by Neto(which if it was Konate wouldn't have happened obviously)

Trent was only bad until the red against Newcastle and same at Bournemouth honestly. When he has to be defensively responsible he can be which I think should tell us the reason he’s been so far out of sorts is because Klopp is asking him to play a certain way that frankly his only reason for struggling is his pace. If he’s slightly quicker none of this is even an issue. He’s still young playing a position that is being invented and built on weekly by Trent and whomever Pep fancies. Once he figures out how to minimize his weaknesses with better positioning he’ll truly change that position forever.

A thought that I had when you said the names of the guaranteed starters, so they are in most of the systems, while Nunez for example is in 3 of the systems, and Jota in another 3, and Luiz in 2 or something like that. I like it when the players go in there focused on the system and their job rather than just wondering aimlessly. I guess all the very good teams have this in mind. They are also relying very heavily on Allison and don't forget the defensive injuries and suspension that we do have.... Only way to counter that is the top heavy and keep the ball on the other side

Interesting that Klopp's sides used to be known for their breakneck starts in matches, where'd they blow teams away in the first 20-30 minutes of games. Now they regularly start quite slowly but end it on top.

Not challengers this season. But last season's job was to create the new front end dynamic. Injuries stopped that so it's now this seasons job. But also creating the new midfield dynamic is alsoa job. Lots too do. Good video. Also he's creating new solutions to salahs goals near seamlessly. Newcastle, first he created stability, then he went more direct.

@@Aloviya it's fascinating to watch (esp after last season's car crash) for sure but I think defensively we'll come up short to get the ninety something ponts needed. I think VVD will be the elephant in the room in that regard, I think he's a poor final 20yrd defender. It could become a real problem if he can't be dropped (I disagreed with him being captain too). I've never seen Joe G. have a bad game in the lcb position while I can't remember when he had a good game on the right.

As a City fan I consider Liverpool our only challengers. The rest are too inconsistent and Liverpool are the only team who have shown in the last five years that they can go the distance with City. No CL is a huge advantage for them too.

Cause they don’t have the same PR as London teams do apparently. Don’t understand why it’s a shock to people when you look at 1. Their current unbeaten record. 2. The 2023 calendar year PL table. 3. The current PL table. 4. The underlying data. It’s weird how they were written off after a “bad” season and when you look at it, it was a bad half a season really with players out of form and a midfield that all of a sudden couldn’t even run through cement

i still think the starting lineup is quite predictable, all the following players start unless injuries or bans come into play: Alisson, trent, konate, vvd, robbo, mac allister, szoboszlai, díaz and salah. Thats 9 players who are heavy favourites to start every game. The only reason other players have started over them is cus of injury or like last weekend players came back late from international break. So later in the season if we play one game a week u can predict Almost every player apart from the striker and the dm or 8 if mac plays there

We don't have the squad to challenge. It's taken 5 games to be playing Matip and an academy player at centre back due to VVD, Konate and TAA being unavailable. It'll be interesting to see if anyone else gets a match ban this season and one of the biggest ever fines given out by the FA for swearing.

Defensively liverpool are not letting big chances against them happen the xGa shows this. The old adage you dont change the defence is what klopps is attempting to do. injuries and suspensions prohibiting

Liverpool should've conceded at least 20 goals in the 5 games they played, and those were stonewall goal scoring chances. Against Wolves alone, you should've been 5-0 down at halftime... "we're not conceding chances".. Not sure what games you've been watching.
@laeemakbar

@@demeoo liverpools xGA is 6 and have conceded 4. So Liverpool don’t give away guilt scoring chances away and a lot of the ones they do are (2/3) individual errors that playing the same back line should eradicate or moments of brilliance like Neto.

this is 433 diamond formation with tighter distance, it congests the middle to help defense and creating constant combinations of attacking because klopp wants every edges of diamond must constant shift their positions to other edges to strecth the opponent and creating confusions also keep disciplinary in distance. what liverpool players hard to keep is distance disciplinary, it demand much intelligence and awareness.

So far this season it's been great to see Liverpool actually have a plan B. For the past couple of seasons they were totally figured out and had no way around it, hence all the struggle against bottom of the league. Now, they have options in every position. Matip offers different to Konate, different to Gomez, different to Quansah. Jota different to Diaz. Nunez different to Gakpo, different to Jota in the 9 role.

Yes yes yes, all of this + 5 subs and big added time, just makes it all the more viable. Looks from the outside like “Liverpool lucky” but just look at how many teams are going behind and coming back to win. With all of the changes and time advantages the “big” teams get now, it makes less sense for sides to try and “hang in there” and more sense to try and start quick, get 2-0 up and get something to hold on to. O’Neill almost did this, if the Cunha chance goes in etc, but I think they even know the comeback’s inevitable as soon as that chance isn’t taken etc. Enjoyed this, good stuff ❤

So many ppl sleep on this Liverpool team which I’m sure that’s how Klopp wants it. So many weapons & versatility they have. Plus they are basically a brand new team still lookin for chemistry etc. You could argue they will need more of a “physical destroyer” as the 6 for certain games but we’ll see.

Lot of critics didn’t even consider LFC a top 4 team this season. Now they’re only 6 games into the season and almost everyone is talking about title contenders. What I can say is that, while the doubters didn’t believe in this team; Klopp and the boys knew what they were capable of. We don’t even know how terrifying this team could get.

The thing that will stop us from going all the way to the title is defensive depth. We dont have a world class DM, we're too fragile at CB, Robbo doesnt suit the 3 at the back, and Trent doesnt have a proper replacement. Now, if rumors are true we may get Andre and a CB in january, which would be huge, but could also be too late already. In a one off game we can certainly match City, but across a league season we'll fall behind.
