@ToniPhillips-tc9cl I would say the biggest problem with our defence was the system a system change could work wonders imo obviously there are times the players could have done better but main problem for me was the system, Going forward it was quite good but defensively it wasn't i believe if you put Van dijk in Arsenal's system for example their defence would look even better and they had the best defence in league last season

​@@olliered9924 Our defence under Klopp has always been questionable. It got better when Fabinho arrived and was in top form. So yes its a mix of system, players in defence taking ttime to switch on in games and not having the suitable subs later on in the season in the no 6 position when players were now tired. The forwards missing those chances is forgivable, they just had a dip at the wrong time. They were firing all season when other teams forwards were not, so its forgivable considering the other problems that hit us hard all season. Lets not forget the injury crisis we had, all the players including squad and youth players were pushed to their max for an unusually lomg period last season and that caught up with us. In all honesty, we over performed yet again

Just play szoboszlai in wing and see how he explodes . Klopp misused him and that really affected his performance.. but supporters didn't really understand.. hope Arne slot uses szoboszlai like marco rossi used him in Hungary.. szoboszlai is a special player and we need to use him properly..

My question is, what if Bajcetic comes good playing very well in the Double pivot position with probably Mac Allister cos we may not sign Ederson this summer. Wataru Endo I think when fit may start a couple of games . Would be very interesting to see what Michael Edwards, Richard Hughes and Arne Slot decide but I like your idea of Mac Allister Ederson as double pivot because that midfield together with Szoboszlai has everything

Interesting video. I think two things Slot has to sort is Trent’s position & where in midfield he wants Mac Allister to play. The Argentine was shifted all over the place last season & I do not think it helped him or the team coming to the end of the campaign. I could see Mac Allister in the position highlighted in the video or as a No10 - personally I want him to be able to break off & get in & around the area in possession & become another 10, as Timber does for Feyenoord when he joins up with Stengs.

I agree with your video , Dominic is probably the key to make us win games honestly , he has ridiculously potential. I think Alexis is limited because of his ability to run , he doesn’t have that , he is creative yes but in todays football you need legs , that’s why Bellingham is the best midfielder in the world in that number 10 position , counter press is important . I think with Dominic being a 10 you will win the ball back in the mid of the park more and make teams play in sides but I still think Trent cannot play right back and will need to be in the double pivot too. Because Bradley should be the right back for Liverpool he is more defensively and offensively balanced. So it will be a dog fight between macca and Trent because Dominic should always start based on his defensive pressing if we want to be balanced we can’t have macca and Trent together

Its really sad how people are slagging Endo as not being a viable long term solution for the number 6 role while claiming Salah is still at the top of his game with loads to offer...both are the same age and Endo has shown all the necessary qualities for a little faith in him for the coming seasons. The man literally came in as a panic buy and was not even considered for the first team until injuries struck and when he came on, he established himself as a first team player. Give him time to settle into the number 6 role and I have a feeling he can make it his own until Bajetic is ready to make the step up, or even have them both as a double pivot, a perfect blend of experienced leadership and youthful energy. He's also played Center Back at his previous club which is incredibly valuable I feel, as he can drop back into the back line if needed for extra cover when defending so our flanks aren't stretched when TAA and Robbo are hustling back from upfield.

Pointless comparison. The roles they play in the squad require very different attributes, they have completely different ceilings to fall from (Endo has never been a world class 6) and not all players age the same. I like Endo, and he'll be a great squad player for a couple of seasons, but he's the obvious player where we need an upgrade if we have trophy aspirations. It's also questionable whether Bajcetic is even going to develop into a 6.

Szoboszlai should play on the right side of the 3. That’s where could use his ability to drive with the ball, shooting and crossing to effect games. He also has the stamina to perform the pressing needed in that position.

I agree, as much as I love Salah. His underlying numbers are slowly declining and he’s never been a presser, I feel like we play better collectively without him. We could move Dom to the right with Harvey as the back-up and sell Salah to Saudi for up to €100m. That money can be used to get a proper 10 like Musiala or Wirtz. But imo we don’t need to spend big, given PSG want to loan out Xavi Simons. We should go for Simons who can play both as a 10 and on the right. Other possibilities with our current squad are: Dom on the right with Macca playing as the 10 and Trent alongside a proper 6. Bradley as a starter or Frimpong given his release clause. Frimpong would overlap as a right winger almost with Dom inverting alongside Macca as the 2 amf. Trent and a 6 behind them and a proper back three. With a proper LB that can form a back three, Levi Colwill would be the ideal player imo - Homegrown - PL proven - Solid defensively - One of the best ball carriers

@@peludotea I don’t mind keeping Salah IF he extends but it’s unlikely meaning we’d lose him on a free next season, which would be stupid so selling him now is a must. Another option I forgot to mention is Julian Alvarez. He’s such a brilliant player, can play on the right, as a 10 and as the striker. I’ve always felt like City plays better collectively with Julian instead of Erling just like we play better as a team recently without Salah. Because it’s not all based around one top player that’s expected to deliver the numbers but it’s the whole team that delivers instead.

Ederson is a water carrier…. We have that in Jones already. I see a double pivot of Bajcetic and Macca. Higher up will be Szobo and Graven who can create, dribble and drive with pace and skill. Combined with Diaz and Salah, they can really supply Nunez and Jota.

Macca is truly one of the smartest signings Klopp did last season and Klopp grabbed him so fast before any other club could bid on him. Super happy we have him, we just need Szoboszlai to step up as Macca did for us.

What you said on Macca and how he fit in at 6 not totally true as a lot of times he did have either Gomez push into midfield to create the double pivot as well as Trent when he was fit. In this sense not much will change midfield pivot under Slot as Liverpool we're already doing that. If anything it was when we hadn't transitioned into a double pivot that he struggled at 6. Getting him pushed forward certainly got the best out of him and took him out of the deeper position where he lost possession more but need Wiefer or Ederson to enable that with Endo as backup at 6. Agree that Dom will have a big season next season, the system should really suit him, he did look shattered before his injury, never really recovered his form when he came back. I'm hoping a good Euros gets his confidence back.

My 1% suggestion, LFC must get a world class CDM etc Ederson or Varela, then Trent can be shifted as a double pivot midfielder. Macca and Szobo can utilise their skills with being a AM that will supply Nunez. Nunez will score more goals again. LFC YNWA.

personally I don't think we really need a new DM, but it sure seems to be a good time to pick up Ederson. If Ederson ain't the target, or is to expensive or whatever, I think we're fine for the ocming 2-3 seasons with Endo. I hope we can focus on the youngsters this coming season, test out the new formation and tactics Slot wants to introduce and if all works, then find the "missing" piece, if there is one.

Last year we were heavily linked with Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram. Two players that have attributes our current midfielders, though a varied bunch, lack. I'm talking about athleticism. Endo is a very good player with physicality but isn't the most athletic and doesn't have the long strides of some defensive midfielders or the speedy recoveries. Attributes both Kone and Thuram have. They're young enough to, if all goes well, be around for a decade and they've both got plenty of room to grow into midfield monsters. They're already top players so I wouldn't mind one or even both of them as they're great pals by all accounts. At least one of them can be got for a discount due to the contract situation so yeah, I'd be happy to see them come to the club. And both of them in a 'piston' double pivot? FUGEDDABOUTIT!

We need a world class defensive midfielder in Ederson who has shown his class in the Europa league and Serie A this season and is a cheaper alternative compare to Guimaraes. Keep Endo as a squad player, play him in carling cup games and at the end to control the scoreline and finish the game off. Bajcetic is not quite ready yet for the CDM role as the injuries he has suffered was brutal. I would loan him personally or give him minutes as a right back minutes next season. We have to sign a world class defensive midfielder to compete for the big titles. Centre back i would of liked to sign is Inciao from sporting Lisabon £60 million clause in his contract this summer. With this owners they aren’t willing to spend this amount this seaosn for a centre back. Also Eddie Edwards return would mean we do sign a lower named centre back who could turn big like Robbo, use Gomez or Van Der Berg. Also Quansah progress is impressive and we need to continue giving him the trust. Hereminds me a lot of Matip with his composure and running forward and shot. If a a offer for Diaz does come in for £70 million accept it. I know Diaz always gives his all, works hard and is skilful but end Product is quite poor. With that money we could freshen our attack Up and sign Mohammed Kudous who has potential To be world class. Also we can give more mintues to Jayden Danns who also has that certain determination and can cause threat to opponents with his direct play. Kelleher is the best second choice goalkeeper to have and I’m sure he wants game time and be number 1. Can’t stand his way. So we do need a good solid back up goalkeeper as Alisson is sadly injury prone too. Regarding strikers I hope Jota can stay fit and Nunez we should give one more season. What do you guys think of this idea ?

I don't think Ederson is the right fit for Liverpool. Macca is more than capable to do what he has done this past season at Atalanta, that's why he needs solid number 6 that can allow him to be more "undisciplined" and free to roam the pitch and find his best spots to press and create with the ball. Slot's former player Wieffer seems like the perfect fit, but I think even better for Liverpool would be Joao Palhinha.

RE: Szoboszlai If your defense of Szoboszlai was correct his numbers should have improved after his long layoff, where his body had time to recover and he was once again re-introduced back into the side. Instead we actually saw an even worse player and Klopp was asking him to do much less work all over the field. You seem to erroneously claim SOT % should not fall as dramatically as it did and you claim this is down to him being asked to do too much work. This conclusion fits neatly into your narrative, but what if you are actually giving the answer without realising it. Technique. He requires multiple touches of the ball to control it and as we know with the Bundesliga there is a lot more space for players to wind up and shoot, compared with the intensity and closing down of the Premier League. IMO it is not the increased physical demands but him perhaps needing to adjust to the Premier League or potentially not being able to adapt over time due to his flawed technical ability - only the fullness of time can confirm this. Further to the physical demands being asked of Szboszlai, there are many box-to-box midfielders like Man Utd's Fernandes, Chelsea's Gallagher and at least 8 others that ran more than Szoboszlai before his injury and still shot more accurately than him and did not see a sudden dip in form following barely half a season. Liverpool were really only asking him to do something that most good attacking midfielders are already doing and doing regularly throughout a whole season - remember we are talking about half a season here. So what if he wasn't being asked to play in this same way at RB Leipzig? Is he only 1 dimensional? We know from his international career that this is not the case and he was doing a lot more work for the Hungary team. Perhaps you should have included that in your analysis.

Endo was class, Szobo showed potential and is young, Elliott was class when he played and made Klopp verbally regret not playing him enough and Jones was injured mainly but showed potential when he did play.

@@MOONGREEDY Endo did well but I don't see him being there long term. Szoboszlai faded badly, Jones and Harvey did well in spells, Gravenberch was disappointing. The only one besides Mac I do have high hopes for is Bajčetić, he was class before he got that bad injury. I definitely wouldn't say we will have the best midfield though, Arsenal and MC have better ones.
