My wife and I have followed the rule that we never discuss our financial situation with anyone who doesn’t need to know about it. Don’t need to act as poor. Money itself has no value until it is ‘converted’ to something you like/need. I’m financial independent at 50, after study / work in the right sector. I live in an upper middle class neighborhood, buy quality stuff that looks good and last long. Just not over the top with everything. I have a vintage Rolex (not the overpriced, obtrusive new ones), drive a second hand BMW with all the luxuries, have a couple of taylor made suits. It is around 40K all together. A fraction of what my assets generate in a year. Eat out a lot in good restaurants and go on holidays at least three times a year for memories with my loved ones. One is only rich when you can look back to a rich life when time comes, not what is on your account by then. The peace of mind of the money on the bank/investment and the passive income it generates is priceless.

He's right, Thomas J. Stanley, who wrote the book "The Millionaire Next Door", documents his findings and discovers wealthy people are very frugal and invest their money in income producing assets, save their money and are very thrifty. They may not be billionaires or have net worths in the 100 million dollars range, but they are low-tiered millionaires or multi-millionaires living very comfortable lives. They have enough wealth to not work if they wanted to.

@bbb_888 Not sure why you would say that. These are the kind of millionaires who are responsible and resourceful with their wealth. They are able to grow $1 dollar into $10 dollars in the long-term and keep it. There are multi-millionaire NBA basketball players and NHL hockey players who make a lot of money in a short period of time, yet spend it all and go bankrupt. That's the difference between a true millionaire and a high income producing millionaire who can not manage their wealth. The true millionaires knows how to preserve it.

@bbb_888 Over the past century, the value of real estate had nowhere to go but up. The stock market indexes such as the Dow Jones Industrial and S & P 500 index has climbed higher with each successive year. The real estate "crashes" as you describe, are speculative short-term investments. Stock market crashes is a result of trying to time the market and selling at a loss in a short period of time to make money. A true millionaire invests for the long-term and has done thorough research before embarking on any investments. I feel you don't have the "millionaire mind," and you are a short-term thinker. Thomas Stanley described only a small percentage of people had this wealth accumulating mindset.

Don’t disagree. I think the emphasis needs to be first make the money, that makes the money What you want to do with the money”free” money is up to you. Some people enjoy cars because it was their passion as a kid. Some buy and don’t really like cars and could care less. Also intentional spending needs to be talked about as some people like those things that unfortunately are expensive and there’s nothing wrong if you have the cash from investing along with is it your actual personality that loves those expensive things. I agree. Most people don’t grow up thinking. Gosh I want a Rolex. Most just buy the Rolex to flash and impress. And yes some people get into the hobby and become passionate about the craftsmanship ( very few though ) I myself am a car lover. I detail cars. I wash cars weekly. So I decided 15 years ago not to change the car, my 1995 Corolla will be exempted from next year. If I have to take a client to go dinner or something, I simply lease a good new car for 1 day. Thank you Sir Ken for your priceless teachings. But i am also curious as to what is really the purpose of getting rich?…aside from being able to provide food, clothing and shelter for the family. Say you got millions or billions, what will you do with all the money?…Is it for charity?…or for your children and grandchildren?…thank you Sir🙏

You can save endangered wildlife, open schools in poor cities, support cancer research, colonize the moon, start a business that will continue even after you die, etc. There are many things you can do with lots of money!

These mega wealthy that dress poor and act poor have a scarcity mindset. They want to hoard their wealth. Pure greed.

Be more Saver than Buyer. Most people get the urge to show off to provoke envy to people they hate in the process of doing it, they are losing money.

You simply get used to everything. I don't even dress up when I go to fancy places because they're just not all that special to me anymore. Sometimes I feel funny getting out of my S-Class looking like an absolute hobo, but I think that's how you really know that someone actually has some money. The 'dress to impress' mindset just fades away over time.

Not my experience. You live in most ways an upper middle class life but there are dimensions of wealth of it that you don’t hesitate to embody as well, like the house itself, destinations, a grand piano, kids in the best private school, donating enough to meet famous politicians, donating enough to get your name on a building…. That’s not lambo trash but it’s a pretty deep class difference from a poor person.

It's easy to get caught up in wanting to be rich, but let's remember to enjoy life too. Working hard is important, but it's also good to take breaks and have fun. Let's find a balance between our goals and our happiness.

This is kinda true, my BF is so low profile, Very simple looking and don’t wear branded clothes but he buys me Business class ticket every time I need to take long flights. 😅 He‘s not wearing any expensive watch but he wants to buy me Rolex 😅. Okay I also wanna buy him a car (Beetle) 😅

You are right but in the same time look at Kim Kardashian she lives lavish life style and investing mainly in her look and become billionare. Many other who invested in their look and starter promoting things became rich as well. It is very important how you look because it sell better

i dont have anything but people are constatnly wanting me to pay for them and talknng about their money problems to me. If i dress up i get treated differently. when i look poor they leave me along
This is BS. You can buy the watches, the cars, all you want, as long as it's within reason. Living like a poor fuck while having money is simply mind blowing to me. What is the point of getting rich if you don't buy what you want? Again, within reason.

Because we simply and honestly DO NOT HAVE TIME TO GLAM UP ALL THE FREAKING TIME. I have 2 dedicated house help, yet 24 hours still aint enough time. I have teams working on different streams I launched, yet I am constantly tired with a brain constantly thinking bout the next course of action all the time
