This makes sense, since his path to becoming a Jedi Knight was an unconventional one. He was a Padawan that had no living Master to guide him on the straight and narrow with lessons. He had to find his own way, but didn’t realize the knowledge and wisdom given to him by Grandmaster Yoda on Dagobah. So in my view, Luke’s path to becoming a Jedi (and eventually a Grandmaster) was the prophecy of “balance” seen in the Force by Qui-Gon Jinn decades earlier. Cal Kestis’ journey is identical to Luke’s, in fighting the conflict of succumbing to the Darkside, tasting a bit of it, but then remembering what it means to be a Jedi.

It's clear to me that his character gradually became darker throughout the original series. Luke was actually one of the most authentic Jedi ever. All Jedi have a dark side, but he actually acknowledged it and dealt with it. By The Return of the Jedi, he had basically mastered fear but was challenged by anger. He mastered that too. He chose his own path between the light side and the dark side.

Personally, I never really took it as all that evil. He actually spent a lot of time negotiating with Jabba and offered him a lot of opportunities. I mean, sure there where some threats in it, but he seemed really calm about it and seemed to handle the situation in a more Jedi way than Anakin probably would have back in the Clone Wars.

Luke used the force, all of it. There was no dark and light to luke. Force choke was forbidden by the jedi, but luke used it freely. He had no real teacher once he hit a certain point, mirroring vader having no teacher in the dark, bith had to seek knowledge on their own. Luke was a perfect force user. He was hopeful and brave, yet he had attachments and those he loved. Luke would touch the dark, just never becoming a slave to it. The jedis restrictions caused them to fail, luke didnt have those issues. Even when luke fought vader, he tapped into the darkside and was abke to still control himself to not fall into it. In the novels he even became one with the darkside and acted as the emperors apprentice, yet he was still luke, he had control of himself , he turned away at will and killed the emperor. Luke was truly a master of his self, and coukd use b9th sides with no issues, he knew it was dangerous , yet he , unlike his father had mastered himself enough to walk that line and even fool Palpatine.

@@georgecostan3248 Shows the contrary to which statement? That we all didn't forget Luke had a brush with the dark side? Or that the sequels suck? It does neither. The whole point of Return of the Jedi was to showcase Luke's brush with the dark side, his realization that defeating the darkside was an internal struggle, and redeem his father. You mean to tell me it makes sense he would try to kill his nephew in his sleep after resigning himself to death via Force Lightning rather than strike down his father? It ignores all the lessons he learned in the OT and that is why it is a horrible story. The same thing happens to Han Solo. He goes from 2 bit smuggler for Jaba, to hero of the rebellion, back to 2 bit smuggler for no apparent reason. Nothing in this video can save the sequels and most of us aren't idiots who missed the entire point of RotJ.
@georgecostan3248
@georgecostan3248 Жыл бұрын
@@Nostradevus1 a brush? Both ep. 5 & 6 have Luke struggle against the darkness within. And it's nowhere stated that once his father redeemed himself, then the same recipe would work on anybody else, nor that Luke's inner darkness was fully dealt with. If we take into account the main inspiration for the Jedi order, the fight against darkness it's a life time struggle, not a 2 hours battle. Also, most interactions between Luke and Vader took place on screen, with a conflicted, but willing full grown adult to kill the Emperor and attached to his son. While the relationship between Luke and Kylo had years of attempts to expel the darkness from Kylo, which felt alienated by both his parents and Luke. He actually said he felt like a monster in the eyes of all those whom he loved. While Luke, a green master, feeling blinded by his obsession for the darkness inside his order, made a grave mistake, while being impulsive (like his father). TLJ didn't do a great visual storytelling on this part, but the plot itself and the acting are actually very solid.

I disagree. Luke is the New Jedi.. not the old group that were destroyed by the Emperor and Vader. He was not hampered by the bureaucracy of the old Jedi codes. This was the will of the Force. As was his father in the end fulfilling the prophecy of destroying the Sith. It is a Much bigger picture. Galactic society rather than just the individual characters. Lucas has a much larger lesson in mind...

To me it’s when he choked those two guards I mean he could’ve easily just force shoved em. Now during his talk with Jabba one could say he acted that way because he already tried diplomacy via R2 but choking the guards was uncalled for, if he killed them that is, I guess if he released the choke after getting out of range that would be ok

If it's so easy to fall down, then the force is such a evil thing in it's very nature.

As Yoda told Luke before, a Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, not to attack. What Luke did was the kind of "aggressive negotiations" that Anakin loved to engage in. One of the things that separate the Jedi from the Sith is that the latter believed their power gave them the license to impose their will on other life forms and their environment.
