Why Mace Windu WANTED Anakin To Be Trained as a Jedi (LEGENDS)

While Mace Windu always held a sense of mistrust towards Anakin Skywalker, he actually supported the training of the young Chosen One. But why?

Another thing people forget is that Mace is not authorized to make these kind of decisions on his own. He’s part of a council that makes decisions by discussion and votes. Even as master of the order he can’t make decisions by himself. His voice is a reflection of the council’s final decisions whether he agrees with them or not.

I’m my personal opinion with how powerful Mace Windu was, he could’ve trained him better and helped him balance out the light and dark side to control the two and not be taken over by Anakin’ down emotions.

It was never about training. Anakin became an extremely powerful Force user, a ridiculously skilled duelist, and one of the best pilots in the galaxy. Anakin’s downfall wasn’t training. It was emotional guidance. Mace would have been too quick to stifle Anakin’s emotions with militant and strict discipline. With Anakin’s Darkside tendencies, being trained by a master who used Vaapad would have lured him to the Darkside far earlier. Anakin was entirely too volatile to handle Mace Windu as a master it Vaapad as a style.

Mace probably thought Anakin would be a crappy Jedi. But since the Chosen One was at the fulcrum of so many possibilities it was still essential that he be brought into the Jedi fold.

For detractors of the novels, and lean solely on the movies and fan theories... once you take out Disney, what's canon and what's not, and if the prequels were or were not better than the movies of the late 70's and early 80's, the novels answer all of the questions. Many of them even echo the takes of George Lucas himself, in interviews given years AFTER he sold his studios to Disney. 🧐

I never had anything against Mace Windu. I always respected the man. Maybe he should've tried to make himself a bit clearer to Anakin.

Training wise? Yeah he could have made Anakin a better Jedi. Problem is he may or may not have helped Anakin personally. Obi Wan understood Anakin also needed to be nurtured. I cant see Mace being the nurturing type. In fact he may have paved the way for Anakin to become Darth Vader a lot faster. He already had a temper and was rebellious under a kind and understanding Master. Under Windu, he would have said Fuck you to the whole order a lot faster.

Yeah I agree with you, especially if you consider the fact that the masters were hypocrite in many occasions and so blinded by their arrogance and their title. I mean once you received the title of master you can do whatever you want, you can follow the code as you like.

Anakin bringing balance had nothing to do with him killing Jedi that weren't following the Jedi way. You're basically justifying Anakin murdering kids with this asinine logic. And to declare that Qui-Gon was the only true Jedi is just plain ridiculous, considering how presumptuous he was.

The only person to blame for Anakin turning to the Dark Side is Anakin. He wasn’t an ignorant man. He was emotionally immature, and made bad decisions based on loosing someone or something. Obi Wan believed in him as did Mace, but Anakin wanted things done his way and that led him into conflict with the Jedi. A conflict he eventually lost.

Anakin was emotionally immature BECAUSE of his upbringing as a slave, if you were taught from an incredibly young age that people can be slaves, that you can own people. You'd be emotionally stunted too.

Bad take The Jedi were wrong. They weren’t following their own teachings correctly and beyond that, their teachings are flawed and incorrect. They message of Star Wars proves that, as his love for Luke saves everyone and Luke’s love for his father and commitment not to kill him proved that the Jedi were wrong. Also proving sidious wrong that power could seduce everyone.

@@957kakashi Luke managed to remind Anakin of who he used to be _because_ he relied on everything Yoda and Obi-Wan taught him. In your attempt to cast the Jedi as being hypocrites who followed incorrect dogma, the original trilogy shows otherwise. Anakin turned back to the light by remembering what he was taught as a Jedi.

⁠@@jadehathaway4336 There might be some truth to this. In the novel dark rendezvous palpatine suggested that mace was a greater warrior and mace shot the idea down by saying that he wasn’t Yoda’s equal in peace or in war. It’s an interesting exchange.

Anakin was suffering from multiple mental health issues and was not only suffering from BPD but also very possessive of the ppl around him. The boy was destined to not only destroy the sith but the Jedi in the process.
