As a side note, If a previously convicted pedophile, on the register leaves prison, still on the register, you have to request, with damm good reason, the police to confirm your suspicions about someone whose just moved into your vicinity, and they can refuse to supply any info, but if they do confirm your fears, you are by law not allowed to forward anything they divulge to you, not even to your neighbours. That’s messed up, yet for a tv license it’s ok to publish an offenders personal details, wrong totally wrong.

A lot of the time it’s women & the vulnerable con’d into getting themselves into trouble by the goons. Perhaps the same majority of the public should make this whole thing a badge of honour instead of shame, regard such people as resistance heroes and maybe even cover their fines with free drinks in the pub😂😅 and teach such heroes how to get that “message” out there? What do people think? Name and honouring them? 🤔

It's very easy to say that if he'd just bought a licence, no further action would've been taken. But we don't know the personal and financial circumstances of this person. Granted, the only way to get fined is to let the goons into the house or tell them on the doorstep. But, I think there should be a law or a right to privacy, as broadcasting your name and address for the community to see is rather embarrassing and name damaging. More severe than the cost of a telly licence in my opinion.

To sum up from what I've seen on various channels. Do not talk to TVL. Shut the door. No Warrant = No entry. Why did the man change his plea. This case leaves far too many questions. Not so honest sales people are to blame again. I worked for TVL for a short while. It was a rubbish office with desks that could have come from the local tip. I have a clear mind as I don't watch broadcast Video or use iPlayer.... doubt if TVL will visit as entry to my front door is via a security door and intercom system.

Election season is nearing again. Knock Knock - "I hope your vote will be in favour of us" , big rosette and a smile. My response " It might be, what are you going to do about the TV Tax? " - you get the idea I'm sure. Organise that door step reply. If they say they can't do any thing please use some expletives!

Question . With the letters when they claim to have sent a letter to you how come no one seems to argue that it wasn't sent to them as it says "legal occupier " there is no such thing as a legal occupier as to occupy is illegal that's why its called a tenancy agreement and not an occupation agreement ?

It's common practice and allowed for all open courts with no reporting restrictions... Its so that anyone with the same name is not slandered.

Mind you if i saw a neighbours name and address in the local rag I'd be visiting them to tell them the correct way of not having a tv licence, trouble is not many of my neighbours have a licence convinced most of them to go non live 😊

they put "catch up services like bbc iplayer" that's false. you only need it for iplayer, other catch up services you can use without a licence as long as it is for catch up and not live broadcasts

There's absolutely heaps of content on itvx these days. Including a lot of old BBC content like Doctor Who. There's no reason to watch live TV or BBC.

An old neighbour had his front door wide open when a goon arrived since it was a baking hot day and he could see straight in as he was watching the cricket live, we took the piss out of him for years after he was fined lol.

peoples own lack of knowledge and sheer stupidity gets them in court , we had a right laugh with one of the goons in our house sat on the couch with you tube on the tv ! 😂 after ten mins he asked to leave 😂😂😂 !.. three months later we caught a different goon he sneaked into the yard threw the letter claiming they had visited the address into the open gas meter box and ran off down the cut next to the house 😂

They name them but under no accounts should they give their address as a person can just put the street name into the royal mail postcode finder and make a list of the local streets in the vicinity with postcodes then they can try and find the house number of the property they live in, it would be more difficult if it was a block of flats and had a door entry system as the postcode could relate to many properties in the building

You ask "why is he named and shamed?" Simple. The guy is now a convicted criminal .. the laws covering the VT Licence provide for criminal convictions .. and so as with all convicted criminals the law allows him to be named publicly. You can argue the law should exist but until TV licence evasion is a criminal offence then anyone convicged is loable to be named .. and journalists are allowed to report their names unless the magistrate/judge prevents it.

Because it is the LAW. If you appear in court then your name/address is then a matter of public record and the press has a duty to report THE FACTS which include name/address and other details. YOU may not like this, but it is not illegal to report these deatils.

Equally it's not illegal to publish the full names and addresses of the prosecuting lawyer, licensing operatives, reporters, etc. All in the interests of open and honest trials, you see. But they never do.
