Arsenal have been getting closer and closer to the Premier league since Mikel Arteta took over in 2019. But ultimately have always come up short. This has been the reality of Arsenal FC, in recent years. How else can one explain that a team has taken the habit of always being very close to winning the league but has never won it since the “Invincibles” in 2004?
We all know about the invincibles and Arsenal's 13th league title.
The year after, Arsenal would later extend the unbeaten run to 49 matches, the longest unbeaten run in English top-flight history and one of the longest in the world. Arsene Winger's Gunners side were on fire during this period, and this led many to think they were going to win the Premier League again in the 2004-2005 season. But to the disappointment of their fans, the Gunners finished the season second on the table again.
The quest to win the league led to the sacking of Unai Emery in 2019, who was replaced by the man in charge now, Mikel Arteta...
