I personally have ocd and the law of assumption (which is different) has helped me and my manifestations a lot it’s a better option bc even normal people said law of attraction gave them a lot of unwanted thoughts and stress law of assumption has been so much better for me

LOA is what gave me hope in life but anxiety and OCD make it really hard to follow mental diet.

Thank you so much for what you’re doing. Been in therapy for more than 17 years suffering from OCD in all its dimensions. You for sure understand what OCD is & I can assure you as a patient of OCD. If only I could meet you in person and make my life a little easier to live. Even then Thank you so much. I hope you train more younger doctors regarding OCD as it’s the most misrepresented disorder ever. ❤

Thank god you are saying this. I honestly feel in my sphere that this is something taboo to say when it's the honest truth. Spreading awareness about OCD is one great thing, but also spreading awareness about potentially dangerous and wishful thinking is something that truly needs to be said.

Hi Jake. Thank you for your comment. Yes, positive thinking, the power of attraction and manifesting philosophy is ubiquitous. To raise awareness that this can be harmful to those with OCD that feel like they must negotiate, cancel out and control their thoughts, especially those with magical and superstitious thinking, is not popular. A concept like manifesting that seems harmless can in fact cause harm.

Does LOA mean Leave of Absence? I can understand that. People with OCD can get more symptoms if they have more free time and are isolated.

@@PaigePradkoTherapy I mean Law of Attraction. The idea of manifesting made me mentally ill. People should stop believing in it especially if you have anxiety and ocd.

Having this ocd even I have tried to ignore a couple of time that nothing will happen bad but still when those come true makes more doing it What can I do Even medicines are going on from about 2 years when it got extreme but still no control over them It made me very much depressed in these years that I can't even work and good that just after graduation this happened to extreme can't step out Please could you help

Yes. Keep practicing response prevention when you face a situation with magical ocd. Do your best to NOT redo things and sit with the urge and discomfort. It gets easier with practice.

You are likely doing this compulsion because you are engaged in thought/action fusion. You believe that if you think a bad thought, then it is more likely to happen unless you neutralize that thought with a positive thought. That is maladaptive or faulty thinking. You have to be willing to leave the thought out there, and not do anything to correct it. Thoughts are not good or bad and have no significance. You are adding meaning and significance to them. Only if the praying is done compulsively following an intrusive thought as a way to neutralize the thought or reduce one’s anxiety or distress.

Hey FIRST OF ALL THANKS FOR THE VID but i find myself always thinking "what if the thought comes true ?"bcause i've heard people day that if u think negative, negativity will follow u so i honestly cant stop blaming myself an get stuck in religious conpulsions

Unfortunately, we cannot always control what pops into our minds. Everyone has negative or unwanted thoughts on occasion. The content of our thoughts does not predict our behaviors or what will happen in our life. We have the ability to imagine anything. Wouldn’t it be sad if people thought they were somehow “bad” because their mind had a vivid imagination or they had unwanted, intrusive thoughts that were not under their control. 😢

How can you prove what your saying. Nobody can judge someone else's thoughts. Rituals can you explain???.Magic and miracles happen everyday. A new born baby is a miracle. Nothing wrong with Magical ❤️. It happens.

That's not what she's saying. She's talking about "the law of attraction" and the book "the secret". She's saying It can make things worse for people with anxiety ocd. I'd add card/tarot readings as well

For people that suffer from OCD and anxiety that have unwanted, intrusive, horrible thoughts, they try compulsively to neutralize or change these thoughts due to believing that they will unintentionally manifest something horrible. But, these thoughts are out of their control. And trying to replace them with positive thoughts makes it worse. People with OCD and anxiety have suffered immeasurably due to these ideas of manifesting and the power of attraction that make it seem as though thoughts have power.
