If he could have a chance to benefit from modern day advantages in recovery options, nutri, vitamins, better medicine, he could have easily played 4-5 years more. The guy who ended his career was Jurgen Kohler, who played in Inter by that time, I recall, he would always try to hit Van Basten at the same vulnerable spot.

It is also a shame that his final touch was a penalty miss against Marseille in Champions final. He should have won way more titles with that generation, at least European championship in 1992 with that brilliant Dutch Team coached by Rinus Mihels, and that CL vs Marseille should~ve been a no-brainer
