Matsu mean pine 🌲 tree and “Take” is mushroom. A few days before one of my friends brought a mushroom as he often brought from the mountain. He suspects it is Mutsutake but it was very unique we try to find it out by searching books and the internet but we failed and leave it as it is. Today I visit a local former shop and I see differently kind of Mutsutake ranging from $20/400gm ~ $250/400gm.

Learnt about this mushroom from a video game called Cafeteria Nipponica developed by Kairosoft. Would somebody explain to me what does it taste like? How would you describe the aroma texture and smell/fragrance?

I had these just now. I loved These Mushrooms and these are seasonal. I had them 3-4 times in my whole Entire Lifetime. Another reason why these are so expensive because these are endangered at the moment. Animals, and the Parasites tend to consume some of these Matsutake Mushrooms. Also known as Pine Mushrooms. I love to eat these Mushrooms, because it does have a distinct flavor, that other mushrooms don’t have!
