I literally just listened to Melt for the 1st time before watching this video. I saw this video posted & wanted to see what all the fuss was about before I watched it. What a fantastic little song! I'm brand new to vocaloid, but I grew up in a musical family & have listened to music as an escape all my life. And, at the risk of sounding overly sentimental, Melt made me a little teary eyed. The sense of frustration & even loss, esp since that loss was self-inflicted cuz Miku was to shy & proud to even tell the guy she was in love with him, really hit me in the chest. I'm a super shy person who can totally relate to Miku's pain in this song. I can understand why Melt changed things in vocaloid. I completely forgot I was listening to a voice synthesizer & just heard a hurting person I can totally relate to. I get it!

Before I knew Miku sing I use to play fan-made dating simulators of her and loved the design. It wasn't till I heard Rolling girl on my KZbin recommends that I learner about this which changed a lot for me. During this time I was dealing with a lot of stuff and even had a toxic family member who would harass me for enjoying Vocaloid and saying "It's only for girls stop being a fag" so I never got into it till I was in high school during my finals. I wanted to hear Rolling girl so bad but my family member ruined it for me but I didn't care anymore so I just looked it up and found this song in particular. It hit me deep with the feels. I even shread tears to this song. I did managed to confess to this chick and form a relationship with her even. I would like to say that after ten years I'm still with that chick and about to be married. But that would be lying. We broke up just a few months later. But I still love Melt. And will have a special place in my heart. Its far from being my favorite song. But everytime I hear it I sing with a passion no other song has made me sing before. Sure Melt may be "just" a love song and it does feel a lot simpler compared to ryo's later works but i think what makes it hit is how universal it is. Sure it's sung from the girl's pov but most of us had that moment where you get to spend the day with the person you like, with the feeling of affection growing the more time you spend together, and yet unable to tell them how you really feel, in a sensation that can only be described as, well... melting.
@joannamysluk86234 жыл бұрын
Melt was also one of the songs that gave Otomachi Una her first taste of fame, that cover still remains one of the most iconic works featuring her. It's funny when you remember that Cillia only made it because it was so hot that she was melting. Literally. But, she did what she is known to do. That was taking an unpopular, new Vocaloid, make a cover with it and give it a warm welcome to the scene.

It may some pretty weird but I honestly can't think of a bigger turning point in my life when it comes to who I am as a person. My hobbies, interests and personality. Perhaps some other Vocaloid or Jpop song would have had the same impact on me eventually, but Melt was the one that did it.
