The FX-05 Xiuhcoatl is Mexico Army's new updated primary rifle firing the 5.56mm ammo. Since 2006 when Mexico’s former president Cauldron initially launched their country’s war on drugs. The drug cartels are going to be afraid of this new weapon. This might have been in the hands of the cartel who kidnapped 4 americans on the Mexican American border in 2023. Jualisco cartel and el chap should fear the rifle.
By July 2019 approximately 155,000 FX-05 rifles have been produced with plans to continue pumping out even more. With a name that translates from the ancient Aztec word for “Fire Serpent,” the FX-05 is a homegrown weapon that we’ll see how its design is actually uniquely well suited to battle it out against the cartels.

I read that was because when it was developed, they measured the arm lenght of many soldiers with regular complexion, so it could be used with ease by most soldiers in the army instead of forcing them to cope with a weapon made with german or US population complexion in mind. And also they made the design ambidextrous, so it doesn´t matter if the soldier is right or left handed, he would find it comfortable to use and carry.

You neglected to mention that the riffle is made using titanium alloys for all of its interior components. Also, the length and weight of the riffle were made with the average arms length and reach of the average mexican national. They also performed a survey to all military personnel on what color of material and even what kind of grip they were gonna use. They really made this riffle taking a lot of input from their military personnel.

Xiuhcoatl, the fire serpent, was the weapon used by Huitzilopochtli (Nahuatl for "Lefty Hummingbird", because he always handled Xiuhcoatl with his left hand) to defeat his 400 brothers. The 400 bastards wanted to kill her mother Coatlicue (Mother Earth) before she could give birth to Huitlizopochtli but when they arrived at Coatepec (Snake Mountain) to fulfill their sinister plan it was already to late and Huitzilopochtli was born wearing full body armor, war paint on the face and with Xiuhcoatl fiercely blazing on his left hand. He defended his mother and terminated all 400 mofos right on the spot. And thus was born the God of War.

In the early 80’s, El Salvador equipped their forces with the G3. The average recruit was about 16 years old and all of 5 feet tall. These guys were tough but they couldn’t reach the cocking handles on their G3s with the weapon shouldered. The good news was the plastic broke off the cocking handle, leaving a hole in the metal exposed. The hook on the H&K sling could be attached to this hole in the cocking handle instead of the sling attachment point. This allowed you to step on the sling and load the G3. The American advisors referred to this as “kick starting”.

Very nice! I'm pleased that Mexico has developed their very own weapon! I'd love to own one, but of course that won't be possible. Many years ago (maybe 2000?) my wife and I visited Mexico on a cruise, and when we stopped at Cabo San Lucas we were walking along the quay when we passed a small Mexican Marine patrol who were seriously armed for bear. One of the Marines was carrying what looked like an M16A2 with an underslung M203 grenade launcher! Since that was a weapons combo I had carried for a couple of years when I was in the US Army infantry, I dearly wanted to stop them to have a chat about their equipment. Unfortunately, I didn't speak much Spanish, and I was pretty sure they weren't there to be sociable with Gringo tourists, anyway. Viva Mexico!

One of the most interesting characteristics of the FX-05 Xiuhcóatl (Fire Serpent in the Nahuatl language) is that its quality has been tested over several years on the battlefield, it has great reliability, durability and low decomposition that make it an excellent one, proven and useful in the hands of the Mexican army.

I gotta say that there’s a significant amount of difference accuracy speaking (G3 vs FX) , when i was in the infantry i had the chance to shoot both of them (2014 /2016) and the main problem with g3s is that they already have seen about 30 years of service and given the nature of Mexican "weapons maintenance doctrine" is not uncommon to train or see some pieces that have never seen any kind of barrel change or things like that, all of this over the actual fact that a 556 rifle is going to be more controllable in full auto than a 308 one. However, it is indeed a state-of-the-art weapon, and a reliable one to.

Looks like a legit beginning of a pretty innovative rifle. I love the AK system with the long stroke piston and have some really old ones that still work really well. My wife struggles with the recoil of the 7.62x39 and the 5.45 is getting tougher to get for obvious reasons. I'm GenX and always thought the AK was cool since I saw Red Dawn in Jr. High and as a history geek they are super fun to restore as a semiautomatic version. I did find an American company that makes an unbelievable AR that uses the 5.56 and has a long stroke piston, she really likes it as the recoil of the 5.56 is extremely low and easy to get. I would imagine that the Mexican military intelligently isn't going to start producing a civilian version anytime soon as the Cartels would likely snatch them all up. Much like the original AK47 was considered a vital classified item by the Soviets, the US wasn't even able to get any real information on it until 1958 and even then it's theorized that the Soviets allowed a flawed, badly produced AK to fall into Western hands as a ruse. I've been to Mexico quite a bit in my life and outside the border cities which are in obvious disarray on both sides of the border, places like Monterrey, La Ciudad, Vera Cruz, and Guadalajara Mexicans are very proud of their country and worry every bit as much and actually 1000 times more about the dangers posed to them by the Cartel drugs and violence.

As someone who got issued an AUG as a conscript over 20 years ago i don't really understand why you have to be very carefull because of the plastic. Our AUG's in austria have a lot of plastic and the ones we got back then, were as old as we were. (20 years old rigles for 18-19 year old conscripts) But the plastic stocks only problem was when using rifle grenades (which had been already abandoned by our army beacuse it could split the stock.) Even the Magazines were/are incredibly durable. (and made since the late 70's) No matter if heat during summer, or freezing temps and ice in winter, the plastic was no issue here. So i would be surprised if Mexico today would not make as good/tough plastic for the rifle as our companies did in the late 70's and early 80's. (Steyr and Glocks plastic i mean)
@arturocenteno7262

@@nirfz I understand the AUG is made of polymer (not sure, I've never seen one) but the FX is made of cheap plastic. Polymer is expensive for us. Broken magazines are common here. Very cool story. Glad they have a rifle they are proud of and can be used to eliminate evil cartels. I am hopeful for Mexico that they can overcome these challenges and become a stronger and less corrupt country as it will lead to more prosperity.

I applaud Mexico for doing what they can to make their own in-house weaponry and employ tracking on them in an effort to recover them if/when stolen. Mexico's really coming along in this world. All of it even I was a little surprised they were still using those older model weapons for the longest time.

Im wondering if there would be a way to produce some sort of 'immobiliser' for police weapons, i.e some small discreet component that can be remotely activated and stops the weapon firing or destroys its internal components
@starrieyedGirl
@starrieyedGirl 9 ай бұрын
@@Ukraineaissance2014 there's already something like that. It's a wrist band that once the weapon is two inches from said wrist band the gun is unable to fire. It'd be cool if it was further developed tho.

@@starrieyedGirl yeah ive just had a look out of curiosity and theres also something called Zore x that you attach to glocks and blocks to trigger until you use a combination. These would be ok short term solutions but the cartels have gunsmitha who would soon deal with them. It would need to permanently disable the gun, some sort of substance maybe that jams up the whole weapon interior, glue or acid or an explosive which goes upmwhen the gun is fired and breaka it to pieces. do you know what the wristbands are called?

Great report, but you overlooked an important fact: The rilfe was designed using anthropo-metric data from Mexican Government databases. In other words, its measurements neatly match the average Mexican's body measurements. That was another reason why they designed it in-house.

This isn't an uncommon trend among domestically produced firearms. Japan equipped its Defense Force with the HOWA Type 89 after receiving a license from ArmaLite to develop and produce a variant of the AR-18, and the changes made between those two rifles were in fact a response to Japanese ergonomics.

Kudos to our fellow Mexican neighbors for designing and building such a good-looking and functional rifle. Is there any hope that we may ever see a semi-auto version imported here in the US for civilians ? 🤤 If the cost to the producer is about 500$, a street price of less than 1000$ in the US would see its sales skyrocket....

When the dictator Noriega controlled Panama his corrupt police/military would search ships and seize weapons they wanted. When my brother was stationed there as an MP US Army, the PDF snagged a ship that originated in China. It had a big shipment of weapons/ammo/etc of which a percentage was seized by the PDF. So every PDF guy had several AK47's. One PDF that worked with my brother at times, offered him one for $50. My brother called me for advice on buying it and trying to get it into the US. I immediately hammered that stupid idea out of his head. A month later the US had Noriega in jail.
